Atal Immortal
Apropos (Gentle Yet Atal), Organiser, December 30, 2018, I picked up a copy of the news magazine from a newsstand in Ahmedabad that featured a piece on the late Atal Behari Vajpayee, celebrating his 95th Birth Anniversary. As a follower and die-hard fan of Vajpayeeji, I was delighted to read the most interesting analyses of his personality by Shri Ram Madhav. A benevolent statesman and eloquent poet in post-Independent India, Vajpayeeji has been a colossal persona straddling the entire political spectrum in the world for several decades during his tenure as statesman, politician and Prime Minister.

Justice Delayed, Justice Denied
Apropos (Congress Stands Exposed in Delayed Justice), Organiser, December 30, 2018), the ghosts of 1984 Sikh massacre has come back to haunt the perpetrators who enjoyed covert patronage by Gandhi dynasty for a long time. They were literally living in virtual delusion that they were beyond the long reach of the law forever. Poor fellows! But the hands of the law are very long and the decision of the Delhi High Court will restore faith of the people in judiciary, belatedly though. Thirty four painful long years to deliver justice! Before we start losing faith in the judicial system that works at its glacial pace to deliver justice, we should scrap the obsolete laws and regulation devised by the British Raj to redefine the history to suit an emerging Bharat.

Ban loan waivers
Apropos the reports of loan waivers for farmers, such vote-catching gimmicks adversely affect the economy and the mute middle-class tax-payers. There must be a complete ban on such promises. It directly affects the public-exchequers. Even subsidy system should be abolished in a gradual manner. Loan waiver to farmers is pushing them again in Mahajan-system because after a loan-waiver, banks cannot finance them in future. Also, such loan-waivers are limited only for previous years where many of farmers have already repaid loans. But, political gimmickry stops many other affording ones to repay loans who are capable of repaying loans.Madhu Agrawal, Delhi

Will SC Notice?
Almost all Malayali devotee women of 10 to 50 age group have shown that they are prepared ‘to wait ‘for darshan of Sastha Ayyappa in Sabarimala till they cross 50 years of age. For them it is a matter of sanctity and not of equality. It is only a few women, from outside Kerala, driven by desire for publicity and not by devotion, who are trying to rush in. The Supreme Court should take note of this when it reviews its order.

Catch ‘em Young
Apropos (Protect Family System to Make Bharat Vishwaguru), Organiser, December 30, 2018, the Nari Shakti Kumbh, as one organised in Vrindavan recently, should be organised at district levels to motivate women to play an active role in nation building. The wisdom and strength of the women is today least used in the society. They are the best manager at home and can work more transparently and effectively than men on several fronts. The young girls should be motivated to play an active role in the society from the college days itself.

Naseeruddin needs lesson from Hamid
Apropos the comment by film-actor Naseeruddin Shah, who was awarded Padma Bhushan by BJP-led Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in 2003, that Muslims are living in a fear, came at a time when the recently freed Hamid Nihal Ansari from Pakistani jail and her mother are in full praise for the Government of India for getting him freed from Pakistani jail. Naseeruddin Shah, who married a Hindu girl after divorcing his earlier Muslim wife, needs to take meditation-lessons from his Hindu wife and Hamid Nihal Ansari for fearless life of himself and his children born from his Hindu wife. It can only happen in India and not in Pakistan that his elder brother from minority community could be appointed Lt. General in Indian Army before being appointed as Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University. Corrective action is required so that such non-sense statements are not made in the name of freedom of speech and expression.
