Indic & Indigenous

Apropos (Transmitting Traditions), Organiser, October 21, 2018, the cover story clearly shows how the various streets art forms in the domain of the society have been playing a crucial role in the circulation and transmission of our knowledge forms. What is gripping about the story is how it has been intertwined both as a report of an event and also as an information piece on the history of storytelling traditions. Usually, reports tend not to engage much because of the writer’s tendency to dig into unnecessary details at times. But, this one is a very restrained narrative of Behrupiya tradition.

Missing #MeToo

Apropos (Missing We in #MeToo), Organiser, October 21, 2018, the editorial rightly questions the class character of this social media movement, which seems to have hijacked the whole issue of sexual harassment to the three corners of media, entertainment industry and corporate sector. We need to question why the voices of oppressed Nuns in Kerala are not being taken up as the headline in this #MeToo movement.

Attacks on Non-Gujaratis

Apropos (Divisive & Dangerous), Organiser October 21, 2018, the repeated attempts to crate civil war like situation in the country by raising some petty issues is deplorable. The people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh were targeted in Gujarat recently over a crime committed by a single person. Similar attempts are being made in other states also. Such attempts should be curbed sternly as they may lead to a serious threat to the national integration. Those who are behind such incidents should be punished without wasting time.

Glossy Side of the Coin

Apropos (Don’t allege, Introspect) Organiser October 14, 2018, the editorial rightly provides a ground to ponder. Since ages why is the RSS blamed for everything and anything? The Sangh was even blamed for assassination of Gandhiji. Following the same, some political parties even today find it easy to blame the Sangh for the anarchy for which they are themselves responsible. But the other side of the coin is rather glossy. The Sangh without lending an ear to the allegations is edifying and influencing the youth of the country. It is slowly and steadily touching the heart and intellect of the youth and moving them towards a glorious future.

Sudeepa Gandhe, Kurukshetra

Pak Needs Befitting Reply

Apropos (Army Chief for Stern Action Against Pakistan), Organiser October 7, 2018 the report provides a vivid outlook of Army Chief Bipin Rawat, who considers the act of isolating the terrorist country, laudable. He, rightly points out the need of the hour to curtail the savage activities of Pakistan by taking stringent action. The Modi Government can act as a catalyst to plan further strategies to give back what Pakistan wants to serve India.

Sudeepa Khurana, Kurukshetra

Impose President Rule in Bengal

Apropos (Mamta’s Nandigram), Organiser, October 7, 2018, the report provides detailed description about the incident happened at the school of Darivit. The incident was an outcome of cold war between the two TMC MLAs. It is also necessary to understand that although the Intelligence report is very clear about the involvement of the TMC MLAs, no action was taken by Mamata Banerjee government against them. The political parties like Congress, AAP, left and all others, which had made huge hue and cry over the death of Rohit Vemula, are now mum. Considering the present condition in Bengal, it seems it is time to impose President’s Rule in the state and initiate CBI enquiry into the police firing at Islampur.

Rohit Sarvadnya, Aurangabad

Surgical Strike

Apropos (The Incident that changed the Strategic Perspective), Organiser October 7, 2018, the article discusses the surgical strike by Indian army. Before finding the final solution to terrorism in India we have to understand the roo cause of terrorist attacks. The root cause is certain teachings of Islam. In my opinion the only remedy is tit for tat. We should learn a lesson from China and Myanmar, which have dealt violent Muslims and Rohingyas squarely.

Anand Prakash, Panchkula
