New Delhi: The 64th foundation day of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh was observed across the country on July 23.
There are reports of organising over 10,000 functions even in remote areas from Andamans & Nicobar Islands to northeastern states. According to BMS northern zone organising secretary Shri Pawan Kumar BMS president Shri CK Saji Narayanan addressed several functions in New Delhi, organising secretary Shri B Surendran was in Bhopal and BMS general secretary Shri Virjesh Upadhyay was in Kerala. He said, in Delhi, functions were held at the unit level and the awareness was generated through motorcycle rallies in the industrial areas of Uttarakhand mainly in Haridwar, Kotdwar, Bhagwanpur, Udham Singh Nagar, etc. The functions began with hoisting the BMS flags in the morning and distributing sweets. In the evening various seminars and symposiums were held discussing multiple issues associated with the BMS.
“The BMS mainly observes six events in a year—Sarvapanth Samadar Diwas on March 25, foundation day on July 23, environment day on August 28, Vishwakarma Jayanti on September 17, Samarasata Diwas on October 14 and Swadeshi Diwas on December 6. We conduct various agitations throughout the year, but on these six days the discussion is purely ideological,” said Shri Pawan Kumar.
