Sweeping generalisations, whataboutery and propaganda are the main weapons of leftist-liberal Breaking India brigade led by the Congress. Backed by pseudo-intellectuals and the paid agents masquerading as journalists, they manufacture and construe many terminologies and hypotheses to tarnish their political adversaries for meagre short-term political gains.
With the NIA special court acquitting all the accused in the Mecca Masjid blasts last week, the Congress’ notorious lie of ‘Hindu terror’, manufactured on the demand of those days of appeasement politics, stands busted. The accused in the blast case were falsely implicated by the Congress as a part of political vendetta and a larger international conspiracy to malign the Hindu Community. Now the Dr Frankensteins in the Congress party are being haunted by the monster that they created in their good old days. Close on the heels of the court verdict, many Congress leaders who had cried foul over the ‘threat of Hindu terrorism’ are now on a denial spree.
For the chameleon politicians who change their colours and opinions frequently, Organiser presents the four instances where the Congress leaders used the derogatory term ‘Hindu/Saffron Terror’.
1. P Chidambaram warned against ‘Saffron Terror’ to top cops
The Hindu, pro-CPM English daily, on August 25, 2010, reported that (then) Union Home Minister P Chidambaram cautioned the chiefs of State police forces, security and intelligence officials against ‘the recently uncovered phenomenon’ of ‘saffron terrorism’. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the three-day conference of State police chiefs and Inspector Generals in New Delhi on August 20, 2010, he said “There is no let up in the attempts to radicalise young men and women in India. Besides, there is the recently uncovered phenomenon of saffron terrorism that has been implicated in many bomb blasts of the past. My advice to you is that we must remain ever vigilant and continue to build, at the Central and State levels, our capacity in counter-terrorism.” It was perhaps the first time, a politician holding a high office invoked the term in a public address.
2. Rahul Gandhi warned US of Hindu extremist threat
On December 16, 2010, quoting Wikileaks cable, famous British daily The Guardian reported that Rahul Gandhi told the US ambassador radical Hindu groups could pose a bigger threat to the country than the Islamists who attacked Mumbai in 2008! He warned the ambassador Timothy Roemer that although “there was evidence of some support for [Islamic terrorist group Laskar-e-Taiba] among certain elements in India”s indigenous Muslim community, the bigger threat may be the growth of radicalised Hindu groups, which create religious tensions and political confrontations with the Muslim community”.
3. BJP, RSS promoting Saffron Terrorism:Sushil Kumar Shinde
On January 20, 2013, Indian media across the country reported (then) Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde accusing BJP and RSS of conducting terror training camps and promoting “Hindu terrorism”! According to Outlook, Mr Shinde at AICC meeting in New Delhi said, “One on hand we are trying to bring peace in this country. We are also taking steps against injustice to minorities as also against infiltration. But, in the midst of all this, we have got an investigation report that be it the RSS or BJP, their training camps are promoting Hindu terrorism. We are keeping a strict vigil on all this.”
Accusing RSS and BJP of conducting terror training camps, he claimed, “Reports have come during investigation that BJP and RSS conduct terror training camps to spread terrorism. Bombs were planted in Samjhauta express, Mecca Masjid and also a blast was carried out in Malegaon.”
4. All Hindu terrorists have RSS links: Digvijaya Singh
According to a report published on First Post on September 12, 2013, addressing a Congress “Mahasammelan” at Kukshi in Madhya Pradesh, Digvijay Singh said, “I have no hesitation in saying that all Hindu terrorists who have been caught have links with the RSS but it must be explained as to why all of them had links with the outfit.” Though Digvijay had used the term multiple times at many occasions, he conveniently changes his position as far as the existence of “Hindu Terrorism” is concerned.
