Political violence will demolish the social structure of the country. Hence, political opponents should not be treated as enemies

Kozhikode: Vice President of India Shri M Venkaiah stressed the need to end the murder politics in Kerala. “Blood bath and development will never go hand in hand. Political violence will demolish the social structure of the country. Political opponents should not be treated as political enemies,” said while addressing a gathering of eminent persons during the felicitation of senior BJP leader Advocate PS Sreedharan Pillai on February 17.
The function was organised in connection with the release of 100th book by Shri Pillai.  Congress leader, MP and reception committee chairman MK Raghavan, U Gopal Mallar from RSS, Kerala Minister KT Jaleel (LDF), state BJP president Kummanam Rajasekharan,  Justice (Red) Cyriac Joseph, N well known anti corruption activist K Abdul Rehman, prominent businessman CK Menon and president of Kerala Working Journalist Union Kamal Varadoor were on the dais.
The Vice President pointed out that once he was asked about this issue and his answer was “Sonia Gandhi is my political opponent and communists are my ideological opponents.”  He said secularism prevails in this country not because of the power of the political parties, it is in the DNA and blood of our countrymen.
Advocate Pillai is a well known political leader in Kerala, thanks to the virtues he possesses. He is one of the most reputed and efficient lawyers in the state practising in Kerala High Court as well as and all District Courts.  He is a familiar face in the state as a decent TV channel debater and column writer for various mainstream newspapers, etc. People wonder how does he manage to write like this despite his roaring legal practice and busy political life. They find it difficult to believe that such a leader-cum-lawyer could turn a well known poet.  He is a respectable personality in election politics too. He contested from Chengannur Assembly Constituency in 2016 and his vote share increased from 6,062 his party colleague got in 2011 elections to 42,682. The CPM winner’s tally was mere 10,198 more than Pillai bagged. Naturally, political observers and even CPM and Congress leaders believe that Pillai may have a cake walk if he contests from the same constituency in the imminent by-election there owing to the death of the CPM MLA. He commands respect in the state cutting across political and religious lines.
It was a real recognition for RSS and BJP as he started his public life as a bala swayamsevak in Chengannur, his native place. He is an organiser par excellence who created the first unit of BJP in Lakshadweep Islands in 1999.  He was BJP incharge for the area of 100 per cent Muslim population for nine years. During that period NDA won the Lok Sabha seat from there in 2004 elections.     n
