This refers to the cover story of Organiser dated Dec 24, titled ‘In the Dock’ by Dr Divya Padmar. Shocking negligence on the part of the authorities of Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, Delhi, who declared a living new-born baby dead is unforgivable and those responsible for this negligence must not go unpunished. Some people say that the withdrawal  of the licence of the hospital is punishment disproportionate to criminal negligence. Seeing the amount of money these private hospitals are charging from each patient I feel that whatever decision  the Government has taken is right. Nowadays hospitals are not treating patients as patients but as ‘CUSTOMERS’. Seeing this mentality it should be a lesson to other private hospitals.

An Appeal

Oh my handicapness listen to me,
Don’t look at me with sorrow eyes,
Don’t hear what people are saying about me,
Rest assured in mind, one day I will succeed,
Have you any doubt about it, No doubt but full confidence,
One day I will succeed,
I will, I will

A lot of people in our society feel that
specially abled people cannot do
anything. They show their sympathy towards the disabled by looking at them with pitiable eyes. I feel this misconception is wrong. This kind of sympathy towards the disabled make them more disappointed. As a result the condition of disabled
people becomes more and more miserable. If we look at the history of mankind, we would find that a lot of specially abled people have done remarkable work. Their contribution towards humanity is worth praising. In our country the condition of disabled is very
miserable. I am myself 90 per cent disabled. I request the NRIs, Government and the other well off people of our country  who are in a capacity to help, to help us.

Explanation Cuts No Ice

Though Mani Shankar Aiyar tried to wash away his hands of the controversy, his explanation cuts no ice. Poor Hindi is also a lame excuse offered by Aiyar because being a Delhi resident for long, his command over the Hindi language is second to none. Though a temporary axe has fallen on him, it is perplexing that his disgusting comments have always come at the wrong time for the Congress Party. His infamous and immoderate chaiwala description of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2014 had raised a hornet’s nest and was condemned by one and all. The modest chaiwala has now become part of the modern dictionary. So much so that many foreign diplomats have used the refined version of the word to shower encomium on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi who rose to great heights from humble beginnings. Aiyar’s jibe at the popular Atal Behari Vajpayee in 1998 needs no elaboration. The problem with the Congress is that it has ceased to be a Party of mass leaders. It continues to run by dispensable leaders. Politicians like Aiyar have survived because of their erudition and loyality to the Gandhi family. Post Gujarat elections, Aiyar may as well be embraced back to the Party fold. The Aiyar case will be an acid test for the Congress President Rahul Gandhi. Whether or not Rahul has the gumption to do away with paper tigers like Aiyar is the moot question.

Real Culprit
Apropos interview of Pamartry Venkataramana by Khushboo Agrahari in Organiser dated Oct 22, titled ‘Reclaiming Heritage’, giving details of the unique jewellery of Nizam of Hyderabad. It has been mentioned that the Nizam transported 45-truck  loads of gold bricks to Pakistan via Bombay and his razakars i.e. Muslim army, indulged in large scale killing of Hindus. There are a number of questions, which needs answers. Firstly, what Sardar Patel popularly known as ‘Iron Man’ doing? Why he did not take immediate action against the Nizam to curb atrocities and slaughter of Hindus? If Pakistan could invade Jammu and Kashmir, although the Maharaja had not done any cruelty on Muslims, why Sardar Patel took so much time? Secondly, why Nizam and razakars were not punished and hanged to death for their crimes? And thirdly why, Nizam was rewarded by making him the ruler of the State, again? It is ridiculous, that the Government had to fight in the court. Fourthly why Sardar Patel did not stop transport of 45 truck loads of gold to Pakistan? And lastly, why Sardar Patel did not prevent Nehru from refusing and delaying accession of Jammu and Kashmir, although Maharaja was eager? At least Sardar Patel should have protested against all these wrongs done by Nehru.

 Right Step
The Union Government’s decision to establish 12 special courts exclusively for criminal lawmakers in the country is welcome. It is an open secret that around 30 per cent of our sitting people’s representatives, including ministers are tainted apparently with various backgrounds. It is an irony that these lawbreakers are framing laws for the country. Incontrovertibly, no political outfit can claim immunity from this menace. Data shows that a total of 1,581 MPs/MLAs were having criminal charges till 2014. This reveals the
disgraceful standard of our people’s representatives. People’s confidence in democracy is absolutely imperative
and therefore, maintenance of acute sanctity in the system is vital. Therefore, a life-term ban of blemished leaders from contesting elections is crucial.

 Clueless Leaders
While addressing the passing-out parade of 947 recruits at the Police Training School in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said that militancy cannot be wiped out by killing terrorists alone. Well if terrorists are not killed, they kill innocent civilians and our security personnel, Chief Minister ! She also advocated a ‘Humane Approach’ and emphasised the need to understand the real reason behind the growth of militancy. Again if she says that there is a need to understand the reason and the issues that lead to militancy, does it mean that her father who ruled the State of Jammu and Kashmir had not tried to understand the problem? Separatist want a separate Muslim nation. That will be resisted by all Indians. What is there to understand? And what does she mean by ‘Humane Approach’? Is it humane to surrender Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan or the secessionists? If this is indeed the solution, the problem could have been solved long back. India does not require a remedy worse than disease. Not to be left behind, former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has recently made pro-separatist/Pakistan noises. Abdullah wants to keep Pakistan in good humour and Mehbooba Mufti wants to keep militants in good humour. The joke, tragically, is on India.
