Silver Jubilee Celebration of Adhivakta Parishad concludes
Hyderabad: “There is a need for the law practitioners to reach out to those for whom justice is still inaccessible. They must give voice to the millions who still cannot afford legal
assistance. The law makers can take a leaf out of the jurisprudence of ancient India, which has a lot to offer in this regard,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat while speaking at the valedictory function of the Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad’s Silver Jubilee celebrations at the Saroornagar Indoor Stadium on September 10.
The Akhil Bharatiya Adhivakta Parishad (ABAP) was formed in 1992 under the guidance of Shri Dattopant Thengadi at the time when the Shah Bano Case judgment, Sri Ramjanmabhoomi issue and discussion on Hindutva were raging. ABAP was involved in legal issues that were emerging at that time and also to give voice to millions of the people who could not afford legal assistance. Speaking on the occassion Shri Bhagwat said, the gap between those to whom justice is not accessible has to be minimised.
He further said that for running a society, laws and legislations are necessary. But we must build the society where morality is at a level where the society in general and laws in particular are not at loggerheads. He said the enforcement of law is necessary, but it would be 100 per cent effective only when the mass is educated about the system in practice. Secondly, the education cannot be just for information sake, but should be equipped with moral values. Third, unless we develop examples of honesty by ourselves, we will not be able to transform the society, he said stressing on drawing wisdom from the Neeti Shastra. Pitching for reforms in law, he said, although the Constitution was prepared on the understanding of the Bharatiya ethos by the founding fathers, many of the laws still in use are based on the foreign sources. This is something we must rectify.
He pitched for transforming the legal system to ensure justice to the legally deprived. He appealed to the members of ABAP to help those in distress beyond the boundaries of
ideology. He emphasised on more introspection by those at higher echelons of the legal system as an error at higher level has more adverse impact on the society. Finally, he stressed that transformation without destruction is possible only by the association of people committed to a positive change and each one in the society must work towards this.
Chairman of the Reception Committee Justice (retd) Shri L Narasimha Reddy said the modern law does not have a proper definition of how a judgement must be, while the ancient texts like Vyasa’s Dharmakosa is able to deliver the same. National general secretary of the ABVP Shri Bharat Kumar spoke about the achievements and the tasks at hand for the ABVP. Other dignitaries included Justice (retd) Shri Rama Jois, Justice (retd) Shri Parvath Rao, Shri Vinayak Dixit, Shri Joydip Roy, Dr Manmohan Vaidya, Shri Chunnilal Arora, Shri Lal Bahadur Singh, Shri K Mohan, Shri K Laxman, Shri Gourish, Shri MB Nargund, Shri Kishorebhai Kotak and Smt Meeratai Khadaka.
