Law and order situation in Karnataka is worsening and once again this has been proved after a senior journalist, Gauri Lankesh, was shot by unidentified assailants in Bengaluru on September 5.
Two years ago, litterateur MM Kalaburgi was also killed in his house in a similar fashion. However, due to the Karnataka Government’s failure, no one has been arrested so far. With the same case repeating, that too in a city like Bengaluru, even common man is now insecure about his security. The people are also demanding that CM Siddaramaiah who has developed a habit of blaming the BJP for every mess should now wake-up.
Besides this, more than 18 RSS swayamsevaks were also killed in Karnataka in the last two years.
BJP State unit president BS Yeddyurappa was quick to condemn the death of Gauri Lankesh. He said that the government shouldn’t spare the culprits and bring them
to book at the earliest. “This barbaric and inhumane incident deserves unequivocal condemnation in strongest possible words. The brutal killing is unacceptable, the civil
society should hang its head in shame as a woman has been killed in a heinous way. I offer my deep and heartful condolences,” BS Yeddyurappa said.

Even the Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Council KS Eshwarappa demanded a probe into the Gauri”s murder. Meanwhile, in a release, RSS expressed deep condolences and strongly condemned the murder of Gauri Lankesh. “RSS demanded an impartial police inquiry on the murder,” said RSS Kshetriya Sanghchalak V Nagaraj.
It seems so, as the Karnataka Government, headed by the Congress, has imposed restrictions on the BJP’s ‘Mangaluru Chalo’ bike rally. BJP had made elaborate arrangements for the rally to demand a ban on Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Popular Front of India (PFI) which have been in the forefront of killing BJP workers. The leaders across the State have been gathering for this mega rally. More than 2,543 bikes were to head to the coastal town of Mangaluru. However, the police have detained 4,547
people before the rally.
However, the Congress Government had asked deputy
commissioners across various districts to ban the bike rallies being taken out in their districts and also impose section 144. The BJP leaders have rightly condemned the move saying that it is nothing but an Emergency like situation. They have also put up posters of Siddaramaiah and Indira Gandhi condemning the ban. There were more than 175 cases against more than 1,700 people affiliated with SDPI and PFI. However, Siddaramaiah Government seemed to be cancelling all these cases.
Despite police took bikes and BJP leaders into custody, thousands of karyakartas gathered at Jyothi Circle holding the party’s flags and chanting slogans against the Siddaramaiah Government for Mangaluru Chalo rally on September 7.
