Talking to mediapersons on June 4, the VHP joint general secretary Dr Surendra Jain said, “The propaganda against Gau Raksha is apparently sponsored by the meat exporters lobby that worries on business losses. They are the same people who questioned the hanging of Yakub Memon, demanded proof of surgical strike, stood behind Kanhaiya and supported jihadis. The ‘award wapsi brigade’ is behind this, and it is Award Wapsi-2.”
Referring to ‘Not in My Name’ protests, Dr Jain said, “These
placard-carrying groups with selfish interests are trying to malign the resolve of cow-protection”. He said the gau rakshaks are the “victims and not tyrants”. “Gau paalan, gau sanrakshan, gau sanvardhan, and gau raksha are the four aspects, which complete the circle of gau seva,” he said demanding a Central law for cow protection. “The vested interests are creating a poisonous atmosphere in the country. It can be checked only through a strong anti-cow slaughter Central law and its effective implementation,” he said. Reacting to the allegations of involvement of gau rakshaks in recent lynching cases, Dr Jain said that “you can’t be selective”. Many gau rakshaks were hacked to pieces. Was it not lynching? These killers have brutally killed innocent people committed for the cause of cow protection. Cow killers have carried out over 120 deadly attacks on gau rakshaks. They even attacked police. No media is talking about these incidents. If anyone wants to see lynching they must go to Kerala and Bengal and see how the hooglians of CPM and Muslims attack Hindu families and temples”, he said.
