(Why go blind to Common Heritage, June 11);   This refers to the article ‘Why go blind to Common Heritage’ by Rajan Khanna in Organiser. Pakistanis , who slaughtered 10 lakh Hindus and Sikhs in 1947 and another 30 lakh Hindus in 1971 in East Pakistan, have been addressed as ‘brothers’ and ‘sisters’. Right from 1947, Pakistan has been indulging in all types of hostilities against the Hindus and truncated India. There is nothing like common culture and heritage of Indus and Swaraswati Valley Civilisation in our true history and our ancient literature. Jinnah and the Muslim League , who created Pakistan had great hatred for Gandhi and used to make sarcastic remarks and then laugh at him, in spite of the fact, that Gandhi was very humbly begging for friendship and went out of the way to appease Muslims, Jinnah and Muslim League. It is highly shameful and humiliating, that the writer is following Gandhi and calling our worst enemies as brothers and sisters. We do not need Gandhis anymore , but Shivajis to pay to the Muslims and Pakistan in the same coin. Even the Muslims now living in truncated Bharat have been behaving like Pakistanis, and Gandhians have miserably failed to make them friendly.

Conversions  under Charity
It was shocking to read in the Indian Express ( June 26,2017) the screaming headline : ‘Crackdown on NGOs: Delhi may face tough questions’. The crackdown on NGOs should have been done long ago. What are the NGOs indulging in? Nothing short of proselytisation. I have been in the field of social work and after my retirement I become a consultant of several NGOs. All except a hand full, that too non-Christian NGOs to my knowledge are covertly and overtly indulging in conversion. Once one of the bootlicker of the Congress party, Mani Shankar Aiyer proclaimed that he is not aware of any such conversion activity. This he stated in particular reference to World Vision (WV). Many of my students who are employed in WV have told me that when they went for a job in WV, questions were asked not regarding how they would uplift the society  but on evangelisation. For heaven sake why don’t these NGOs go to China, Pakistan or the Middle East and try conversion activities their under the guise of charity . Why these NGOs have selected India only for this. Are the poor of the whole world residing in India only? Go where the poor are–leave India alone. Do not indulge in deception and under the guise of charity  convert people.  According David Curry president and CEO of Open Doors, US, thousands of children throughout India don’t have access to medical care and go to bed without food and tuition. My point is that why are you interested in India only. There are a number of countries which are having problem. If you look at the foreign policy of the US one will see that the US imposed heavy restriction on Iraq under the excuse that Saddam Hussein  has  weapons of mass destruction. It imposed sanctions on medical aid, medicines and other critical emergent necessities including food. What was the result—thousands of children died. Did Compassion International shed a drop of tear? And when it was discovered that there was no weapons of mass destruction –did the kind hearted and compassionate NGOs and the international community took any action against the US. Do not sit in glass house and try to throw stones on India. Why India is only the target for compassion?  Should compassion not be directed to all those who are in dire need? David Curry states that there is rise in brutal persecution of Christians, Muslims and other religious minorities in India. I am a Christian myself and have lived in Kerala for 20 years, in Chennai for 50 years, and now for the past ten years I am in Gujarat. As a house wife I would like to challenge David Curry and tell him to check his statistics and find out where is the rise of brutal persecution? David Curry does not recognise brutal persecution in any of the Middle East countries, neither in Pakistan nor anywhere else. It is all being said against India under the guise of vested interests. India has been a victim of brutal persecution down the ages by the foreign invaders. All came as traders and ended up by indulging in forced conversions. Are the hands of the US clean? Why there is discrimination against the Blacks in US? Do not lie and use deception for spreading Christianity which you think is the God given command to you and the Christian NGOs. Let us live in peace. I would like to remind David Curry that in  the Bible  it is written that Jesus had advised his disciples to shake off the dust from their  feet in the place where they are not wanted and go elsewhere. Do not force yourself and your compassion on us Mr David Curry.

Invaluable Gift from India

(Conscious Connect, June 25); I would like to congratulate the entire team of Organiser  for taking out a special issue  on ‘Yoga’ on the occasion of International Yoga Day having articles of renowned writers such as  David Frawley , C Radhakrishnan, Yogacharya Dr Varunveer and interview of Nouf Bint Mohammad Al Marwaai. I would also congratulate Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s enterprising team for organising the yoga day due to which people across the globe  celebrated the International Yoga Day. In fact it was on September 2014 while speaking at the UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi rightly said that “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India”s ancient tradition. This tradition is 5,000 years old. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day.”  He suggested at the United Nations to celebrate June 21 as the International Yoga Day as it is the summer solstice; the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. David Frawley in the article titled ‘Science of Consciousness published in the special issue of Organiser has rightly said that “Yogic science begins with a different orientation from modern science. It teaches us that there is a vast potential of the mind, an inner movement that extends our awareness beyond human frontiers.” We can say with pride that yoga which is a way of life for many, has its origin in India — though it has spread its wings across the globe now. But sadly, it is still incorrectly linked to a particular religion. It is but a scientific way of well-being which integrates the body, mind and the soul. Today’s youth need to arise, awake and harness the experience and the power of yoga. We should evolve towards being spiritual dynamites rather than addicted to smart phones and other electronic gadgets using Whatsapp asana with our index finger all the time.
