In a ghastly act, Youth Congress leaders slaughtered a calf in full public view in broad daylight leaving the nation numb

Youth Congress men displayed the worst level of their political and cultural rowdyism when they butchered a calf in front of a huge crowd in Kannur, northern Kerala. The incident took place on May 27. The brutal act was part of the protests against union government’s new regulations and ban of cattle sale for slaughter.  As part of the protests organised by both CPM, Congress and some Muslim outfits, under separate auspices, the Youth Congressmen brought a calf to the street and declared that they were going to kill it in public and going to distribute the beef free of cost among the onlookers. When the people in the area did not give consent to do it there, they took the calf on to a vehicle brought and killed it in the vehicle itself while the entire crowd was watching it; then they distributed the beef there. It was a shocking sort of barbarianism and the whole state and the people who watched the news and visuals throughout the country and abroad went numb! But, no Congressman worth his salt came  forward to denounce it. Some even used social media to eulogise the anti-social activists. But, after a day when the party’s heir apparent Rahul Gandhi tweeted against the cruelty, Congress leaders queued up to denounce the Youth Congressmen. The tweet said that the Congress youths’ act as “thoughtless, barbaric and  completely unacceptable.” After that  several Congress leaders came out to disown the ‘boys.’

“Many organisations, in name of secularism, demand respect for each other”s sentiments. I don”t understand why they are silent on Kerala incident — Yogi Adityanath,  Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister”

BJP state president Kummanm Rajasekharan described the Kannur incident as “Cruelty at its peak.” RSS, VHP, Hindu Aikya Vedi and several Hindu organisations  strongly denounced the Congressmen’s act in strongly-worded statements.
Finally, the police have registered a case against Youth Congress leader Rijil Makkutty and 15 others for killing the calf. They are charged under IPC Section 428 and Section (ii) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960.
But, Congress youths are not for any sort of repentance. They told the media that they do not regret what  they did.
Thus, Congress youths once again proved that as far as cruelty and barbarianism are concerned they are not behind anyone. CPM, Congress and all Muslim outfits are competing among themselves in organising beef fest, public cooking and distribution of beef, etc, in the state. They maintain that it is their political struggle against the ‘fascist style of RSS and Modi Government’. They all are trying to prove once again that Kerala is different from other parts of the country, even though it is all for wrong and ridiculous reasons. But, the people of the state observe this absurd political approach with the contempt it deserves. They are ready to accept the union government’s regulations as they are in their interests too.
