Vol. X, No. 21 Delhi,  Margshirsh Krishna 16, 2013; January 28, 1957  -/4/-

As of January 24 the Security Council is still seized with the subject of Kashmir. But it is believed that the Council will adopt some resolution “freezing” the situation in Kashmir, and  directing us not to proceed with the alleged formal integration of  Kashmir on January 26. But as Sri GM Sadiq, President of the  Constituent Assembly, has pointed out, the council is wrong on  facts. The formal integration was effected last November as soon as the new Kashmir constitution was passed. All that remains to be done on January 26 is the coming into operation of the new constitution for purposes of internal administration of the State. And the Security Council can have mothering to do with the internal administration of Kashmir.

UP Jana Sangha Candidates
convention

UP Jana Sangha is preparing to give stiff fight to the Congress in 200 assembly and 50 parliamentary constituencies of the State. Election fund amounting to Rs 10 lacs is being collected from the masses throughout the state. The state Jana Sangha is expected to call a convention of all its candidates at Lucknow. The candidates will bring the signatures of their electorate to the demand of  abolition of sales tax, reduction in Land Revenue and Irrigation rates. This convention is being called with the object of education the party candidates on the election manifesto and with this will party’s start the pointed  attack on the Congress failures in handling the problems of the country.
UP Jana Sangha
UP Jana Sangha is putting up 210 candidates for the Assembly seats and 56 for the Parliament. The UP Assembly consists of 430 members and the State’s contingent to Parliament totals 86. The List shows that as yet the Jana Sangha has set up no candidate against Mr Triloki Singh, General Secretary of the PSP. It has left the constituency of Dr Sampurnanand, the State Chief Minister alone.
The Jana Sangha has set up candidate in Gorakhpur and Gonda in clash with Hindu Mahasabha candidates.

It is amazing that the Security Council should attempt to freeze Kashmir. We ran up to it nine years ago to  take note of Pakistanti aggression on our territory. Here was a question which, as our chief spokesman, Sri Gopalaswamy Ayyangar, emphasised at the time, was one of “urgency, nay immediacy.” But the Security Council would neither name Pakistan as aggressor, nor secure its evacuation from our territory. And when we go ahead to give peace, order and prosperity to Kashmir, it turns round to ask us not to do a thing. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are not mincemeat to lie in UN Frigidaire for an indefinite period. There is a limit even to the patience of  the patient Hindu. If the Security Council fails to do its duty, we cannot fail to do ours. We are sure the Government of Bharat would go ahead with its plans in Kashmir.   The next obvious step would   be to bring J& K. State on par with all other constituents States, and give it a fully equal status—equal in rights and duties—with other units. We cannot let our self-confessed sole enemy, Pakistan, to veto our action in our own territory. Enough! enough!
Exactly five years back. Hutatma Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerji revealed that Pt Nehru had agreed to  leave  2/5ths of Kashmir territory with Pakistan. Pt Nehru at the time hotly denied the fact last year he admitted it. What shame ! The whole of Jammu and Kashmir  State is ours by Law.
But the Kashmir debate is not without it lessons for India.  If the Council does in fact pass a freezing  resolution on Kashmir, the
responsibility will be chiefly that of Prime Minister Nehru. As George Evans of Telegraph has pointed our :  “ Kashmir  would not matter so much if Mr Nehru had not set himself up as a moral adviser-in-chief to the West.” We object to Pt. Nehru’s “Warning” USA about the Eisenhower Doctrine. Such loose and lavish take is hardly calculated to win us friends. How along are we going to turn a blind eye on the military build-up in Pakistan. We submit that nothering short of
liberation of Pakistan’s people from its evil Government will secure us a firm and lasting peace.
