Readers’ Forum : Misconceptions

(Sense of Means and Ends, September 18); Apropos the article titled ‘Sense of Means and Ends’ by Dilip Dharurkar in Organiser, I am to draw attention of the readers to the fact that the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch was set up by the Indian language lovers of Goa and not by the erstwhile Sanghachalak of Goa Vibhag Shri Subhash Veligkar. Secondly Shri Dharurkar’s statement that “BJP was also associated with the movement before election” is correct but its later part “but could not fulfil the promise after coming to power” is false and baseless. The Education Section of the Manifesto of BJP for the last Assembly election in its first paragraph says “BJP subscribes to the universal scientific principle of primary education in the mother tongue. Grant-in-aid accordingly will be released to primary level schools (1st to 4th Std.) with medium in regional language. However, keeping in view the problems faced by a numbers of schools due to faulty and legally interim policy of the Congress Government and sentiments of certain sections of the population, BJP assures an amicable solution to the problem.” Shri Velingkar had consented to this statement in the manifesto. So the question of BJP not fulfilling promise does not arise. His another statement “on the other hand, the people who are active in political field also should not forget their ideological roots after coming to power” is based on wrong impression. So far no grant was released to a single English Primary School since the formation of the BJP Government in Goa. On the contrary a decision has been taken to release an additional grant of Rs 400 per student to the primary schools imparting education in Marathi, Konkani and other Bharatiya languages. The present BJP Government after coming to power has given permission to 93 Marathi Medium Primary Schools in Goa. Inspired by political impulse Shri Velingkar who has usurped the power of the entire BBSM, has decided to float a political party and has declared himself self styled Sanghachalak of so-called Goa prant, which is a Vibhag of Konkan prant according to Shri Manmohan Vaidya, Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Samajwadi ‘Gunda Eleven Set’ Complete

With the mafia don Mukhtar Ansari of Qaumi Ekta Dal joining the ruling Samajwadi Party, its Gunda Eleven set is complete. Members are : Mukhtar Ansari (captain), Atique Ahmad, carrying a century of criminal cases on himself (vice captain), Durga Prasad Yadav of Azamgarh (the list of criminal cases against whom includes a mass murder), Raghuraj Pratap alias Raja Bhaiya, Arun Shankar Shukla alias Anna, Madan Bhaiya, Uma Kant Yadav, Rajaram Pandey, Mehboob Ali, Om Prakash Singh and Manoj Kumar Paras. Shiv Pal Yadav is the coach of the team. With as many as 12 cases of crimes like attempt to murder, dacoity, and loot pending against him, he has the necessary experience for the post. Mulayam Singh Yadav is the chief patron of the team. He too is involved in a criminal case of 1995, the Lucknow Guest House attack incident in which an attempt was made on Mayawati's life. The case is pending in the Supreme Court. The Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav himself boasts of the company of as many as 12 ministers with criminal record in his Cabinet. So the SP is all set with its two teams to win the coming elections. It will be another matter if the public decides to give it a drubbing.

Right Decision by India
India’s decision to boycott the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Summit (SAARC) summit in Islamabad was a tough diplomatic manoeuvre. The Modi government has launched a full-fledged diplomatic war. The resulting derailment of the Summit, owing to the boycott by the other member countries, gives credibility to India’s long-standing claim about Pakistan’s nefarious designs in the internal affairs of its neighbours. It gives a clear message that not just India, but other member countries too are facing the brunt of terrorism. Pakistan is the only country which inhibits the South Asian region from achieving its true economic and political potential. It is high time for the SAARC member states to adopt a joint resolution condemning the activities of Pakistan. If Pakistan does not mend its ways, then it must be knocked off from the
membership status.

A Confused Lot
DGMO called a Press conference about the surgical strike not Bharatiya Janata Party and Army cannot say lie about this. If people are still in doubt whether Pakistan is right or India then they must consider that Pakistan still says that Pakistan is not responsible for any
terrorism, not for 26/11, even not related to Headley, not only this Pak even don’t admit that Hafiz Muhammad Saeed live in Pakistan. India has never false claimed and is a mature nation showing strong political and diplomatic sense. Let us just look at what Pak’s PM, Army and Defence Minister has to say about it. Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif
condemns “attack”, says “our desire for peace should not be interpreted as our
weakness.” Pakistan Army contradicts Sharif and Indian army, says no surgical strikes by India, instead only
cross-border fire initiated. Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said Pakistan army gave befitting response to Indian Army, if India tries to do this again, Pakistan will respond forcefully. So it is clear that they
are hiding the truth and giving contradictory statements. They do not know what they are talking about and are completely unsynchronised. The world is not fool and the truth is well known to all. They just are proving their hypocrisy one more time by prominently highlighting the differences in their statements.

How to Resolve Cauvery Dispute?
(The Fishy Water, September, 25); This refers to the article ‘The Fishy Water’, by Shri A Jayaram and TS Venkatesan in Organiser. When Karnataka is asked to avoid overdependent for drinking water on Cauvery River, we expect Tamil
Nadu should also be told to avoid overdependent   on Cauvery water for agricultural purpose. Tamil Nadu should not solely depend on agriculture for its growth but it should also explore other avenues for developing its State
economy. In fact every State should look for other avenues of development to build their State economy, and not completely depend on one thing. Perhaps that is the only way to resolve Cauvery water
dispute.

Catch-22 situation?
Will it be alright to say that Pakistan is in a Catch-22 situation? If Pakistan defends its terrorist onslaught on Kashmir, it will not be able keep crushing the Baluch people in its backyard. On the other hand, if it justifies its
atrocities and human rights violations in Baluchistan, it will lose credibility in Kashmir. Both ways Pakistan will lose. The Baluch issue has triggered a series of developments both in India and abroad. Firstly Pakistan is getting isolated on terrorism on international forum. Secondly Pakisatn’s brutalities in Baluchistan are being exposed
before many countries in Europe and elsewhere. Thirdly the Middle kingdom is now in an embarrassing position. It is unable to decide if it should go with the Gwadar Port project or not. Chinese trade prospects will suffer due to the Beijing’s association with a terrorist state like Pakistan.
