As LDF Government celebrates its 100 days of power, a number of swayamsevaks continues to be murdered, BJP state office bombed and Dalits continue to face the wrath of Communists

CPM continues its blatant Stalinist annihilation politics in Kerala. RSS/BJP worker Vinish was brutally murdered on September 3 in Iritti near Thalasserry, Kannur district. Police found him lying on a deserted pathway near Thillankerry. He was hacked several times and was critically wounded in head and legs. He died on the way to the hospital. It is hardly two months since BMS worker CK Ramachandran was killed by CPM goons in Annoor near Payyannur. Murder of Vinish clearly repudiates CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s claim that law and order situation is very good in the state under the CPM-led LDF regime.
BJP state president Kummananm Rajasekharan warned CPM against playing with fire. However, he asked his party workers not to deviate from the path of democracy. Now, more and more Keralites say that whenever CPM is in power the political violence from their side will be all time high. It is true given the incidents in the past. After the murder of Vineesh, CPM workers bombed the houses of several RSS/BJP workers in Koothuprambu, Kannur district. Leader of the Opposition and senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala said that the murder of Vineesh should make the CPM leaders learn the ground realities in the state.
RSS Pranth Karyavah Gopalankutti Master said, that the intolerance of CPM is the cause of this murder. They have killed a poor labourer, the only breadwinner of the family and pushed his people into poverty and starvation.
As a sign of spreading the violence from the northern Kannur to southern tip of the state, BJP state office in Thiruvananthapuram was bombed late in the night of September 6, 2016. Even though no one was injured, it is a clear cut move of the CPM leadership to spread the violence throughout the state. BJP president Kummanam Rajasekharan and national executive member PK Krishnadas said that CPM is behind the attack. They alleged that CPM is trying to spread the violence using the power. Krishnadas and other leaders were in the office during the attack. He said, they suspect a plot to finish the senior party leadership. He said, an ordinary CPM man would not dare to attack the state office of BJP sans the nod of the CPM state leadership. Both Kummanam and Krishnadas regret, the CM Vijayan has not denounced the attack so far.
Kummanam said, non-CPM parties and workers do not get any legal protection. Police is seen as mute spectators. CPM resorts to violence as they fail to fight on ideological plank. They suffer from ideological bankruptcy. He said, Union Government has to interfere in Kerala affairs as the state moves towards anarchy.
Immediately after the incident
O Rajagopal MLA and other senior leaders met in the office and led a large protest march to the Secretariat. Addressing the protest march, O Rajagopal expressed his party’s strong protest against the fascist attack. He said, BJP sticks on to democratic principles. Party has called on the workers to observe Black Day on September 8, 2016 to protest the attack. In Kochi, addressing a protest against march to the office of the IG of Police, BJP state general secretary AN Radhakrishnan said, CPM should not take the non violent restraint of his party as its weakness.
CCTV visuals suggest that the attack was made by a motor bike rider. Forensic experts and police have collected the debris of the broken windows, etc. from the BJP office.
Not only the RSS/BJP workers but also the political observers and common men believe and say that the rank and file of the CPM draw the inspiration, to resort to the violence, from their own leaders. Recently party state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan stated that they are going to launch a volunteer offshoot to oppose RSS. They would train them in fight, karate, etc. It reminds of the “Gopalasena” they launched in 1968 – 69. Sena volunteers were trained in fights and combat; they were deployed to attack RSS and Congress workers physically those days. CPM leader also added that their cadres will intervene and block RSS shakhas conducted in temple premises.
The situation in Kerala is inching towards an alarming situation. CPM and their cadres take the law into their own hands. This is not an enviable situation. The fascist moves of them will demolish the democratic system in the state. It is high time their leaders realised it and guided their workers towards democratic style of political activities.
CPM-Congress hand-in-glove against Dalits
Amid persecution of Swayamsevaks, Communist sponsored attack on Dalits is going on in the state in different patterns and methods. The last in the series was the attack on Laiju Sreeji, a Scheduled Tribe youth, of a SC colony in Nettoor near Kochi. The assailant has been identified as Congress worker. The incident took place on August 26, 2016. About a 30 strong head-load workers belonging to INTUC union and some others got involved in some altercations and physical clashes regarding unloading of some goods in a private warehouse. In fact, Laiju’s only fault was his casual enquiry into the cause of the clashes, says his mother-in-law Kairali. He was returning from the temple. Sreeji, member of the SC Ullata community, is seriously injured.
It is alleged that even though Laiju was first taken to the Taluk office in Thrippunithura, the authorities showed lack of interest in taking up his treatment. Then the friends and relatives took him to a private hospital in Maradu near Nettoor. He was immediately taken to the intensive care unit. Hospital authorities said that Laiju suffered from a serious injury in his eye.
The eye witnesses say that the police force had reached the spot as soon as the altercation started, but they did not do anything to prevent both groups from further clashes. In fact, Laiju was beaten in their presence. The Ooru Mooppan (chieftain of the community) and his colleagues had complained to the police that the INTUC men involved in beating Laiju were not yet arrested. Then they complained to the Kochi City Police Commissioner. Consequently, the Assistant Commissioner of the zone and his team visited the colony and collected the information from the colony dwellers, but still no action. BJP state president protested against the cold feet practised by the police when a Dalit youth was attacked very badly. Sangh workers carried out a protest march in Maradu. Interestingly CPM keeps away from the scene; their demand is compromise! People see it as a compromise between Congress and CPM. People wonder what would have been the CPM style if the incident had taken place in a BJP-ruled state!
Meanwhile State Schedule Caste Commission has registered a case against DYFI leaders AN Shamseer MLA and Kannur Zilla Panchayath Vice President PP Divya in connection with the suicide attempt by Anjana, a Dalit girl of Kuttimakkool, Thalassery, Kannur District. Organiser of June 26, 2016 had carried the story of remanding Akhila and Anjana, two Dalit sisters, and the former’s one and half year old baby, based on the CPM allegation that both had barged into the local office of CPM and attacked the party workers. None on earth had believed that cooked up story. But, it is well known that INTUC leader N Rajan, father of the girls, had contested against the CPM candidate in the local bodies election that took place in September, 2015. There lies the root cause. SC Commission collected evidences, with respect to this case, during its sitting in Thiruvananthapuram on August 30, 2016. Chairman PN Vijayakumar has issued the order to both Shamseer and Divya to appear before the Commission on September 29. The order is in conformity with the prayer of Anjana to register the case according to the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Anjana had requested to register cases with non-bailable sections. It was alleged that Anajana opted the suicide attempt due to the abuses unleashed against her by the accused during a channel discussion after her release from the jail.
