In a series of violent incidents across the state, CPM and Muslim League workers attacked the students who participated in Raksha Bandan

T Satisan, Kochi

Fascist opposition to Raksha Bandhan and Rakhi in Kerala raises its ugly heads blatantly. Several incidents  have been reported from different parts of the state in this regard. CPM and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) compete each other in the fascist methodology. Series of incidents  have been reported from Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala. While awaiting bus in Neyyattinkara bus stand after school hours, Ananthu, a Higher Secondary student, was attacked by SFI and CPM workers. Reason is too simple – He wore a rakhi on his wrist which was tied during a Raksha Bandhan function organised by swayamsevaks! Despite the abuses and attack, he refused to remove the rakhi from his wrist. Then the assailants pushed him down and one of them pressed Aanathu’s rakhi clad hand with his foot to the ground. Exploiting this helpless plight of him, they broke the rakhi and threw away. Ananthu had to go to hospital to get his crushed arm plastered!
Another incident has been reported from Vellada, near Neyyaattinkara. SFI-DYFI goons came to the Karakkonath PPMHS School gate on August 22 and cut the rakhis, tied on the wrists of both boys and girls, with the blades they carried. When the Sangh swayamsevaks questioned this fascist behavior they attacked them with fatal weapons and stones. Three swayamsevaks were injured in the attack and have sought treatment in the hospital. They went to the extent of attacking the police and the Sub Inspector when they came to take the culprits into custody. They even freed an attacker from the police and took him away.
The same evening they attacked the Sangh shakha in Muryathottam and  beat up the swayamsevaks, especially small children, attending the shakha. Organiser spoke to the RSS zilla pracharak Krishnadas and taluk karyavah Ajesh. They told that the attacks on the school children were   perpetrated  by the CPM students of a nearby engineering college and a higher secondary technical school. Sangh workers have given the registration number of an attacker to the police. They said, boy students Abhijith, Jeothish, Vishnu, Athul Krishna and Abhishek and girl students Surabhi and Raveena are the students injured in the CPM attacks. A meeting of the MLAs from Thiruvananthapuram District will be held shortly. Senior BJP leader O Rajagopal would take up the matter in it.
RSS workers have apprised the police of the history of CPM/SFI
violence in the zone. In the past, silly matters had led to murders, thanks to the inaction of the authorities. RSS is against such violence. Similar
incidents  have been reported from Balaramapuram, again in Thiruvananthapuram District.
Another incident has been reported from Thrikkarippoor, Kasaragod District. It took place in the Higher Secondary School, Thrikkarippoor. The workers of Muslim Students Federation (MSF), the student wing of Indian Union Muslim League (MSF), threatened the Rakhi-clad students and broke the rakhi tied in the wrists of both boys and girls. Earlier MSF workers asked the principal in writing to instruct the students not to wear rakhi when they come to the school. But, when the principal refused to oblige, they caught hold of the hands of students including girls and broke the rakhis.
This is the repetition of the incident  having taken place last year in the Muslim majority school. Hindu students are always the targets of the atrocities by the ‘majority community’ there. Even though Hindu students complained to the authorities in writing, they fell on the deaf ears, because, IUML was enjoying the advantage of the power they shared in the Congress-led UDF regime of those days. On the day of school reopening, a flex board was exhibited in front of the school reading: “All are welcome to the school. But, RSS men, you cannot return as you came.”
