Nagpur: “Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Balasaheb Deoras both were social reformers who worked relentlessly for betterment of the society,” said RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi. He was speaking at a function organised by Bharat Mangalam, a Nagpur based organisation on July 11.
Bhaiyaji said India unfolded the idea of universal welfare to the world, but some mistakes in the past led to the social imbalances. Now it is time to correct the mistakes and think beyond the petty issues of caste etc. He urged the society to treat each individual with respect. “Today the society is going through a social paradox where identity politics seems to be dominating the minds of individuals. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar has given a way of life not only to the weaker sections, but also to the whole world with his practical conduct. The efforts of Dr Ambedkar strengthened the will power of the downtrodden and today they stand on their own feet,” he said. He said for eradication of caste based discrimination we need to make the society aware of various issues and search for the solution. We have to extend helping hand to the weaker sections to bring them into the mainstream.
BVP to reach out to one lakh students
Ongole: Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) plans to reach out to one lakh schoolchildren this year to mould them into socially responsible citizens. Inaugurating the BVP Ongole unit in Andhra Pradesh on July 5, BVP Akhil Bharatiya joint organising secretary Shri Suresh Jain said ‘Bharat Ko Jano’ event would be organised to create awareness among the members of young generation on rich cultural heritage of Bharat and inculcate patriotism in them. “Our goal is to inspire the children to contribute their mite for development of the nation in all fields—cultural, social, academic, moral, national and spiritual—culminating in physically, economically and morally strong India,” he said.
He said the BVP with 1,300 branches across the country has chalked out plans to focus on spreading its activities to South India in a big way. “We will also provide free of cost artificial limbs to needy persons by holding health camps under the aegis of BVP branches,” he added.
Swayamsevaks volunteer
during Puri Rath Yatra
Puri: RSS swayamsevaks volunteered during the Rath Yatra of Sri Jagannath on July 6 and 7. This year about 1,200 workers joined the sewa activity. According to Shri Gurusharan Prasad, deputy general secretary of Rashtriya Sewa Bharati who monitored the work, the swayamsevaks reached Puri on July 5 and they were imparted training regarding different sewa activities throughout the day. They started the sewa on July 6. The prominent activities that they joined included guiding the pilgrims how to reach the temple, medical aid in different forms like ambulance sewa, carrying patients on streture, providing security to the main Rath, cleaning of the roads and the premises. On July 7, they cleaned the premises of the Yatra. They also volunteered for distribution of drinking water.
Saksham campaign against Cornea Blindness to begin on August 25
New Delhi: In order to make the nation free from corneal blindness the Saksham, a leading organisation dedicated to the cause of empowering differently abled people, is going to launch a nationwide 15-day public awareness campaign from August 25. The campaign named as Cornea Andhatv-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (CAMBA) will conclude on to September 8. The campaign had formally been launched by RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi on March 5 in New Delhi.
Extending full support to the campaign, the RSS Swayamsevaks will start visiting door to door all over the country educating people about the need of eye donation. Awareness rallies, street plays and competitions in schools and colleges, human chains have been planned as part of the campaign.
Cornea Blindness is one of the most serious medical challenges faced by the people in India. Cornea is the transparent part of the outer eye. Due to various reasons it becomes weak, eventually causing blindness. This can be cured by simple surgery, thus giving the light of life for the previously disabled people. An estimated 2 – 20 lakh people suffer from Cornea Blindness in India, out of which, sizable number are young children. Healthy eye donation is the only solution to it.
Short film festival by Patliputra Cine Society
Patna: Patliputra Cine Society, an initiative of Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Patna, organised a short film festival in Patna from July 1 to 3. Titled as ‘Bhavishyat—A Festival of Documentaries & Short Films’, the festival witnessed the screening of 25 films from India and abroad. Inaugurating the festival, Shri Ganga Kumar, managing director of Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation, applauded the role of the societies in taking the positive cinema to the masses. Hence, all such initiatives should be encouraged by the government, he said.
Director of the Festival and noted film analyst Prof Jaidev said the short movies would get more popularity in coming days. The uniqueness of the festival was that only the short films and documentaries were screened. Speaking at the concluding ceremony Shri Sanjeev Kumar, editor of Vishwa Samvad Kendra, said such film festivals would be organised every year.
ABVP demands resignation of KJ George in Ganapati suicide case
Bengaluru: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged massive protests at 82 places across Karnataka on July 12 demanding the resignation of Congress Minister KJ George in Dy SP Ganapati suicide case. According to ABVP national general secretary Vinay Bidire more than 39,000 students participated in the protests. ABVP also demanded an impartial enquiry on suspicious suicide case of the upright police officer Dy SP Ganapati at Medikeri recently. Hours before he was found hanged Ganapati had given an interview to media stating that some police officers were torturing him.
Bharat Parikrama Yatra enters Andhra Pradesh
Vishakhapattanam: The Bharat Parikrama Yatra by veteran Sangh Pracharak and former Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh Shri Sitaram Kedilaya entered in Andhra Pradesh on July 13. Andhra Pradesh became the 22nd State to which the Yatra has entered. It entered from Chatua Village of Koraput District of Odisha to Araku Village of Vishakhapattanam District in the morning of July 13.
68 year old Shri Sitaram Kedilaya has completed nearly 20,000 km by his mega walkathon on 1436th day of his yatra, visiting nearly 185 villages of 22 different states. The 5-year mega walkathon is expected to conclude at Kanyakumari on Guru Purnima Day of July 9, 2017.
Balagokulam State Conference in Kochi
Kochi: The annual meeting of Balagokulam was held in Kochi on July 10. Famous environmentalist Prof. Shobheendran Master inaugurated the meeting by garlanding the idol of Sri Krishna. “Plant the sapling, ensure the shade and kill the temp” will be the theme for the coming Sri Krishna Jayantii celebrations. Saplings will be planted wherever flag day will be celebrated and the procession will be organised. Five hundred new Gokulams will be launched this year in connection with Bhagini Nivedita’s sesquicentennial birthday celebrations. A blue print will be prepared for the 50 per cent villages of the State.
In his inaugural speech Prof. Shobheendran said the children should grow up realising the essence of the earth, nature and society. But, the contemporary educational institutions do not provide this realisation. No vidya (knowledge) in vidyalaya (school). We should deliberate what sort of education we provide to our children. Education is for life. But, “what is life” is not taught anywhere. Personality development of the children is the duty of the education and the elder generation. But they never hit the goal.

VHP welcomes court directive on filing FIR against Akhlakh
New Delhi: VHP welcomed the court directive regarding registration of FIR against Akhlakh and his family in connection of the cow-slaughter. “Now, it is crystal clear who the real culprit is. The villagers had been shouting from roof-tops from day one, saying that a calf had gone missing a day before the death of Akhlakh and that Akhlakh’s brother had been seen slaughtering the calf. The villagers had only gone to Akhlakh’s home to elicit information, but the situation got out of control only due to the bad behaviour of Akhlakh and his family. Unfortunately, in the din of the secular mafia of the country, truth was buried and instead the Hindu society was shown as if they were the perpetrators of the crime. The forensic report established that the meat obtained from Akhlakh house was beef. The VHP demands that the case of cow-slaughter be investigated in a fair manner and the family of Akhlakh should be sent to jail immediately and the case filed against innocent Hindus be withdrawn and they should be released respectfully, said VHP joint general secretary Dr Surendra Jain in Delhi on July 14.
CPM onslaught in Kerala continues
Kannur: CPM unleashes violence throughout Payyannur zone of Kannur District. They barged into the house of BMS leader CK Ramachandran of Annoor during the early hours of July 12 and brutally killed him in front of his family members. Immediately after the murder the goons started continuous attacks against the houses, institutions, shops, offices and vehicles and two wheelers belonging to RSS-BJP workers. BJP leader and Karshaka Morcha district secretary M Narayanan’s house in Ramanthali was also destroyed by the CPM assailants. Three two wheelers were also destroyed. They all belonged to the neighbours of BJP leaders .
House of another BJP worker Kunjikrishnan, near Parathikkat, was also destroyed. Kunjikrishnan and his family had moved into the newly constructed house on July 11. A tourist travelling agency run by P Rakesh and Ramesh, brothers and both belonging to BMS, was attacked and a bus and shop nearby were destroyed too. After these attacks, the goons bombed the houses of the brothers past midnight. They destroyed four vehicles and three two wheelers parked near the house.
The goons attacked the house of Thaliyillath Sahadevan, an Electricity Board employee. They set fire to a motorbike parked in the courtyard. In Karivelloor, the stronghold of CPM, they destroyed the bakery of a BJP worker, Balan. Tempo Traveler of BJP worker Sathyan was smashed and they also set fire to a bike. In the same place the goons destroyed the house of BJP leader MV Raveendran. They also destroyed the car and bike parked in the courtyard. Another bike, belonging to BJP worker Nandakumar, was set on fire. BJP worker Shyam’s house and his spare parts shop was destroyed.
The CPM assailants attacked Arsha Vidyalaya, Annoor, affiliated to Vidya Bharathi, during the midnight of July 13. They destroyed the furniture and LCD projects and computers belonging to Smart Class. The school, with a strength of 300 students, was attacked by CPM goons a few years ago too. The assailants destroyed the house of KP Arun Master, Bharatheeya Janatha Yuva Morcha district president in Velloor, Payyannur. BJP president Kummanam Rajasekharan said in Payyannur CPM is spreading anarchy in the State. They are afraid of ideological fights hence implement annihilation. He was in the town to pay his last respects to CK Ramachandran.

Jayant Sinha Assures Compassionate Appointment to Bank Employees
New Delhi:While inaugurating the 14th Delhi State conference of NOBW, on July 5 the then Union Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha assured the bank workers that the government would consider their demand of compassionate appointment favourably. Shri KV Brahmaji Rao, ED, Punjab National Bank, said the Government completely supports the banking industry.
BMS general secretary Shri Virjesh Upadhyaya said which ever Government is there, the employees should not forget to fight for their trade union rights. About 450 delegates from different banks of Delhi attended the Conference. BMS north zone organising secretary Shri Pawan Kumar raised the issue of outsourcing by banks and also the minimum wages not being paid to the outsourced employees. NOWB national vice president Shri Ashwani Rana demanded fixation of accountability in the loans becoming Non Profit Asset (NPA). Shri Chatarpal Singh was appointed new president of the NOBW while Shri Ashwani Rana will be the general secretary.
