Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar is mainly acclaimed for his leadership role in drafting the Constitution of Bharat, his expertise in law and economics and also his knowledge on China and Pakistan. But, the most important and socially relevant part of his life or thoughts involving social equality and eradicating caste-based discrimination are grossly ignored. His life’s mission was eradication of the fundamental distortions and degradations that erupted to wreck the Hindu society over a period of several centuries. Focusing more on his role as of a social reformer, the RSS workers across the country celebrated 125th birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Ambedkar as Samarasata Diwas. A number of functions were organised all over the country on or around April 14 spreading this message.
The swayamsevaks in Delhi, on April 17, organised a Ghosh Sanchalan at the Karnail Singh Stadium playing different tunes. The message of the function was wide and clear—this nation from the Himalayas to Kanyakumari and from Kutch to Kamrup is one and all people living here are united. RSS Sah Sarkaryavah Dr Krishna Gopal, while addressing the workers on this occasion, said that whenever there is degradation in the society, a social reformer emerges and reforms the society removing the ills that damage the roots. All reformers whether Buddha, Kabir, Ravidas, Guru Nanak or Ambedkar have contributed immensely in this task. Prof PD Sahare from Delhi University also spoke about the contribution of Dr Ambedkar in uniting the society.
On April 14, Samajik Samarasata Manch Delhi, along with various social organisations, paid floral tribute to Baba Saheb by garlanding his statue inside  the Parliament House premises.  Delhi Prant Sah Sanghachalak Shri Alok Kumar said Baba Saheb stressed on everyone becoming Bharatiya and stay Bharatiya till their last breath. Convener of the Manch Mahant Omprakash Gihara said Baba Saheb’s message of social harmony should reach every person of the country. Delhi Prant Sanghachalak Shri Kulbhushan Ahuja, MPs Smt Meenakshi Lekhi and Shri Udit Raj were also present.
In Chennai, the Thiruneermalai Shaka celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti by organising a football match. National Hockey Player Dr Anbarasu, organising secretary of Kreeda Bharati Shri Jagathalaprathapan and Shri Muthukumaran Sridar of Ambedkar Sangam participated in the celebration. Dr Hedgewar Smarak Samiti also organised a function at Shakthi Sangh Karyalaya. Presiding over the function former justice of Madras High Court Shri K Venkatraman said the RSS, which is genuinely working for the cause of strengthening social harmony is badly projected by a section of the people in bad light, which we should strive to take the correct message. General Secretary of Arundathiyar Sevai Maiyam Shri Anandaraj said he was happy to be the part of the function. Shri Bakthavatsalam of Hindu Munnani highlighted how Dr Ambedkar was a great Hindu leader. Many prominent personalities including Justice Kanakaraj, Shri Sethu Madhavan and Dr ML Raja were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at a function organised in Bengaluru by B-PAAC, a forum for better Bengaluru, on April 16, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Bauddhik Pramukh Shri Mukunda CR said Dr Ambedkar was a great visionary social reformer of the last century. Shri Mukunda said while commemorating Ambedkar’s life and works we should remember that conditions of social discrimination and prejudice against the so-called lower castes and untouchables, which existed during his time more than a hundred years ago, still continue to prevail in many of the villages. Pujya Channamalla Swamiji of Nidumamidi Matha, TV Mohandas Pai, writer Dr Doddarange Gouda, Dr Sandeep Patil of Aikyata Foundation, socially active Businessman Anil Shetty, journalist Ravi Hedge, leaders of Congress, BJP, JD(S), Dalit organisations, cine stars, corporate personalities. techies, students and many more attended the event.
Speaking at a seminar organied by Samajik Samarasata Manch on social harmony in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, on April 14 senior Sewa Bharati leader Shri Pravinbhai Otiya stressed the need to completely eradicate evils like social discrimination and untouchability. He said Dr Ambedkar thought about the entire society and not about a particular section.
A pathsanchalan was organised in Faridabad, Haryana, on April 18. Addressing the youth at NIT Football Ground RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Sampark Pramukh Shri Arun Kumar said man making is the primary task for nation building. The function was presided over by Vice Chancellor of YMCA University Dr Dinesh Agrawal.
Speaking at a function organised in Jodhpur on April 14 RSS Kshetra Pracharak Shri Durgadas stressed the need to follow the values of Baba Saheb in life. Presiding over the function Principal of Dr SN Medical College Dr Amilal Bhat said Baba Saheb also applauded the Sangh work.   n Organiser Bureau
