New Delhi: Veteran educationist Shri Dinanath Batra turned 87 on March 6. Hundreds of people from different walks of life conveyed their wishes to Batraji at a get-together organised in New Delhi on that day. Speaking on the occasion Shri Batra wished to see the young generation coming up to help the deprived people. In order to bring desired changes in the Education Policy of the country he recently called on Shri TSR Subramanian, chairman of the drafting committee on new education policy, and gave him his suggestions. His spirit and commitment to the cause at the age of 87 can be understood from the fact that he went to the fifth floor climbing the stairs to meet Shri Subramanian. Shri Subramanian was also deeply impressed by his spirit.
Scores of eminent educationists, scholars, and leaders from various organisations including UGC chairman Dr Ved Prakash, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) chairman Prof CB Sharma, former NCERT director Dr JS Rajput, former chairman of CBSE Shri BP Khandelwal, additional secretary in UGC Dr Pankaj Mittal, VHP general secretary Shri Champat Rai, Shri Brahmdev Sharma ‘Bhaiji’ from Vidya Bharati were also present.
A new trust, Shiksha Swasthya Nyas, was also formally launched on the day to help the financially deprived students. Shri Atul Kothari is founder of the trust.
Kannur: Goons, alleged to be CPM workers, brutally attacked AV Biju, a 28-year-old RSS worker, in front of school kids he was taking in his auto rickshaw. The incident took place on March 8 at Chokli near Panoor, Thalassery in Kannur District, a CPM stronghold. The murder attempt occurred in the morning when Biju was taking kids to the school. The goons pulled him out from the auto and hacked him brutally on his head, back and arms in front of the horror-struck kids. The people came to the scene when the children and Biju screamed. Now, Biju is undergoing intensive treatment in Kozhikode.
This Stalinist brutality reminds Keralites of the brutal assassination of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha leader KT Jayakrishnan Master on December 1, 1999 near the same Panoor. Master was killed in the classroom while he was teaching the 6th standard students. Last month RSS Manal Karyavah Sujith (27) was killed by alleged CPM goons, in front of his aged parents at Pappinisseri, another CPM bastion in Kannur District.
Political observers believe that CPM resorts to murder politics against BJP-RSS workers due to the fear of suffering major setback in the ensuing Assembly polls. World Ocean Science Congress Concludes
Kochi: Vijnana Bharati’s ambitious programme, World Ocean Science Congress, concluded in Kochi in the second week of February. The Congress was jointly organised by Swadeshi Science Movement Kerala and Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies. Experts from within the country and abroad shared their experience in ten plenary sessions. ‘Follow Gita in daily life to re-establish Bharat as Vishwaguru’
Kurukshetra: The historic city of Kurukshetra will have a research centre on Gita. RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, Haryana Chief Minister Manoharlal Khattar and Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avadheshananda Giri laid the foundation stone for the Centre. Laying the foundation stone Shri Bhagwat said to re-establish Bharat as 'Vishva Guru', every person should bring about a change in himself by imbibing the principles of Gita.
Shri Khattar said his government has decided to give six acres of land for Gita Gyan Sansthanam. The Centre includes a Gita research centre and a museum. The institute is likely to be completed within three years with the cost of Rs 100 crore. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev announced Rs 1 crore for the institution on behalf of his Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust. He said the profits made by Patanjali were not his personal assets. New Delhi: RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi launched the Corneal Andhata Mukta Bharat Abhiyan (CAMBA) in New Delhi on March 5. The Abhiyan was launched by Saksham in association with various like-minded organisations. The Abhiyan aims at making Bharat corneal blindness free in three years. Apart from conducting survey of the corneal blind people the existed eye banks will also be equipped with desired infrastructure so that the transplant rate is increased. It is necessary today because over 50 per cent of the eyes donated in the country are not successfully transplanted in time due to various reasons. Tribute to the ‘Bicycle Karyavah’ of RSS
Andhra Pradesh: The birth centenary of senior Sangh worker, Kabaati Narayana, who played a key role in expanding the Sangh work in Andhra Pradesh in the initial days during 1943, was celebrated on March 2 at Tenali under Guntur District. About 800 people from 20 villages paid him their respect.
The local workers conducted some sports activities among high school and college students during the last six months and prizes were distributed to the winners. RSS Sah Sarkaryavah Shri V Bhagaiah, senior VHP leader Shri Koteswar Sharma and Prant Sewa Pramukh Shri Prithviraj attended the programme. Shri Narayana was first Karyavah of Tenali and he toured the entire District on bicycle. He was also among the team of workers who prepared the RSS constitution. He was popular as a ‘Cycle Karyavah’ of RSS as in those days he toured 150 miles by cycle only.
He did B.Com (Hons) from BHU but instead of doing any job he opted for doing farming. Though he had a family, he toured for Sangh work almost as a Pracharak. His daughter is a Rashtra Sevika Samiti worker.
Delhi: Rashtriya Sikh Sangat thanked the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for allocating Rs 100 crore for 350th birth anniversary celebration of Guru Gobind Singh. A delegation of the Sangat called on Shri Jaitley on March 6 to formally thank him. On this occasion, the special issue of Sangat Sansar, the house journal of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat, was also released by Shri Jaitley. Sikh Sangat national general secretary Shri Avinash Jaiswal, noted social activist Sardar RP Singh, national president of the Sikh Sangat Sardar Devender Singh Gujaral were also present on the occasion. New Delhi: Hindu Help Line (HHL), the 24 x 7 nationwide Emergency Service, on its fifth anniversary launched a special service for senior citizens on March 5. Launching the service, VHP working president Dr Pravin Togadia said the senior citizens in emergency can call at 020-6689330 and 07588682181 to get urgent help within 15-20 minutes depending on the type of emergency. The Help Line covers the emergencies like medical, travel, legal, administrative and cultural. Since beginning, the HHL has received over 2,00,000 calls and the emergency help rate has been over 98 per cent. Today, due to nuclear families and various social aspects, the elderly face genuine problems that are not only loneliness, but also practical problems like day care, medical reports collection, utility bill payments, caring company for a daily walk and so on. n
Baleshwar: Aiming comprehensive village development, veteran RSS Pracharak Shri Sitaram Kedilaya’s led Bharat Parikrama Yatra entered Odisha. Till March 7, the Yatra had completed 1,308 days, covering a distance of about 18,000 km. Odisha is 20th State where the Yatra entered. The Yatra had entered Odisha’s Ambachua Village under Baleswar Zilla on February 16. In first week of August, the Yatra will enter Andhra Pradesh. n
Delhi: Demanding rollback of retrospective fee hike at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, hundreds of students, under the aegis of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on March 6 took out a protest march from Civil Lines to the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The students were irked ever since the colleges affiliated to IP University were directed by Delhi government to receive “hiked fee” of Rs 5,000-25,000 from students for academic session beginning in 2013 till the completion of their four-or-five year courses. The students and their parents termed the back date steep hike as an attempt by the government to help institutions to earn more money to meet their business interests. However, following the protest Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal declared to roll back the fee hike.
Tawang: At a height of more than 12,000 feet in the frozen cold atmosphere of minus 7 degree temperature and at a distance of just 45 kilometers from Bharat’s international boundary with Tibet, RSS held its first training camp at the backdrop of the 1962 War memories with China where more than 2,400 brave solders had sacrificed their precious lives while protecting the motherland.
Not more than one kilometer from the RSS camp venue a huge war memorial of 1962 has been erected—a signature of the highest sacrifice of our brave hearts. In total, 38 trainees from 25 villages of the Tawang District participated in the camp. The seven day Initial Training Camp (ITC) concluded on March 1 at General Parade Ground, Tawang, with an attractive public meeting, which was addressed by Dr Lhaboe Rikya Rimpoche, and also RSS Arunachal Prant Pracharak Dr Sunil Mohanty.
Dr Lhaboe Rikya Rimpoche eulogised the selfless service of RSS. He recalled the statement of the Dalai Lama who during his visit to RSS headquarter at Nagpur on January 10, 2014, had said that “Sangh is a patriotic organisation and always works for the welfare of the country and countrymen”. Dr Sunil Mohanty stressed upon how the RSS has been working on the unique formula of nation-building through man-making since its inception in 1925. The concluding function was attended by many dignitaries, Lamas and students from different schools. An attractive route march was taken out through the busy Nehru Market of Tawang. The trainees performed attractive physical demonstrations including Yoga, taekwondo and drills.

Eye check-up camp by Rashtra Sevika Samiti
Delhi: Rashtra Sevika Samiti in Delhi organised an eye check-up and eye donation pledge camp on February 29. A total of 405 people got their eyes checked up. Doctors and technicians from Delhi Lions Eye Hospital checked the patients. About 150 people were provided free glasses. 21 people were detected with cataract, who were operated later. A total of 89 people pledged for eye donation. Senior eye surgeon Dr Gyan Goel educated people about eye care. Delhi Prant Pracharika Sushri Vijaya Sharma was also present.
