Kerala : Arrest in store for CPM Leader

So far more than 150 RSS activists have been murdered by the CPM goons in Kannur District alone. But not a single CPM leader has been arrested. If Jayarajan is arrested, it will be the first ever incident in the history of Kerala

On January 19, a court in Kannur rejected CPM district secretary P Jayarajan’s plea for the anticipatory bail in connection with the murder of RSS Kannur Zilla Sharirik Shikshan Pramukh Kathiroor Manoj. Manoj was killed by a gang of alleged CPM workers on September 1, 2014. The incident took place in Kathiroor, his own village in Kannur district. The assassins first attacked him with bomb and then hacked him to death.
Manoj was a prominent Sangh worker in that zone. He had been fraudulently implicated in the case registered with respect to an attack on P Jayarajan in 1999. RSS workers have been alleging that P Jayarajan was deeply involved in the conspiracy which led to the savage murder of Manoj. They have been blaming the Kerala Police for not booking the culprits involved in the conspiracy part. Under these circumstances CBI took over the case. Jayarajan (63), ex MLA, is one of the prominent leaders of the CPM who is always in the eye of the storm whenever a CPM attack takes place in Kannur district, especially in Thalassery Taluk. RSS leaders have been alleging that he has been doing his level best to ensure that the area is not peaceful. There CPM goes to any extent to deny the RSS workers the right to organization. This criminal attitude has something to do with the erosion of their rank and file in large numbers and their joining RSS and BJP.
They took all tricks of the book out to stop the drop outs. They kept on attacking the former comrades who joined Sangh Parivar. They tried to celebrate Sreekrishna Janmashtami by xeroxing Balagokulam’s Janmashtami  Shobha Yatras. Another gimmick was to replicate Ganeshotsvam. All ended up in utter failure. In the Nava Kerala Yatra which CPM leader Pinarayi Vijayan has been leading as part of their assembly election gear up, Jayarajan was tipped to accompany him. In this regard, CPM had propagated wall posters showing Pinarayi as Arjun and Jayarajan as Sree Krishna. It led the party to the receiving end among the general public cutting across party lines.
Jayarajan was summoned to appear before the CBI during early January.  Then Jayarajan moved an anticipatory bail application.  But, CBI’s  lawyer opposed the application saying that Jayarajan was not eligible for  anticipatory bail since the case was registered under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act – UAPA.  Thalassery District Sessions Court accepted the CBI’s argument, hence Jayaraj fell into deep trouble. Immediately he got hospitalised; his comrades and media say that he was suffering from heart ailment. Last year he was             hospitalised after he had to undergo a CBI interrogation.  That time also he was denied the anticipatory bail.
CBI has already arrested 23 people related to this case. Apparently Jayarajan is already on bail with respect to another murder case. People believe that this blue-eyed boy of Pinarayi Vijayan deserves punishment in Manoj murder case. It is an obvious fact that Jayarajan belongs to the CPM’s faction which is always interested in physical attack instead of ideological wars.
Now, it seems, Jayarajan’s arrest is imminent. He is conscious of it better than any one else. Therefore, there are not much takers for his “not well hence hospitalised” theory. They believe that it is another trick to buy time. If Jayarajan is arrested it will be the first ever incident of the arrest of a senior leader, for murder, in CPM’s history.  So far, whenever an RSS activist was murdered,  Police enquiry has never gone to an extent to catch the real conspirators. There was even allegation that the culprits were ‘selected’ by the party leaders and handed over to the police.
The first RSS worker who was killed by CPM goons was Vadakkal Ramakrishnan, who was brutally murdered on  April 28, 1969 in Thalassery, Kannur distirct. Since then more than 150 workers have been killed by the CPM killers in Kannur district alone. But, not a single senior leader of the CPM has been booked by the police in those connections. That is why all are anxious to see what is in store for P Jayarajan.                                   —T Satisan
