RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat on December 28 patted the Swayamsevaks who joined relief and rescue operation during recent floods in Chennai. “During disaster, naturally humanity in every humanbeing comes out. A swayamsevak is a person who has to do sewa i.e. serve the needy. Society is just like God. Many rise to occasion and there was a stimulus that kept active. But we the swayamsevak need to be more active now as rehabilitation is there. We have to think as per the need, and serve the society continuously till it reaches the ‘last man in the last row’. Being Sarsanghachalak the best suitable word to pat you is Sabaash,” he said while addressing the workers at Chennai Sangh Karyayala. Shri Kalyan Singh, Mahanagar Sanghachalak and Prant Gau-Sewa Pramukh, were also present on the occasion.
Representatives of the centres across Chennai, Puducherry, Kanchipuram and Cuddalore narrated their experiences in the rescue and rehabilitation work. Prant Pracharak Shri PM Ravikumar said a total of 1,350 persons were rescued and 161 medical camps were conducted. Around 315 women and 78 men went on ground for counselling for nearly 17 days, 4,550 families were benefitted so far in counselling. A total of 1,75,250 families were benefitted with kits. About 21.6 lakh food packets were distributed.
Bhaiyaji Joshi joins Datta Jayanti celebration
RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi joined Datta Jayanti celebration in Manipal under Udupi District on December 25. The event was organised by Keshavaraya Prabhu and his family, a senior RSS functionary with the participation of the local people. As per convention, Bhaiyaji Joshi along with others went for a barefoot walk for Bhikshatan (locally called Madhukari Vrutti) in the colony. Bhaiyaji Joshi felicitated Sudhakar Salyan, who is a banker by profession yet serves also a barber. Joshi also felicitated veteran journalist A Eshwarayya. He said noticing the good works done by people in the society, organising seva activities in several needy places, will help to bring social transformation.

BMS felicitates FM for Bonus Act
Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) on December 30 felicitated Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Minister of State for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy and Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya in Delhi for enacting the Bonus Enhancement Act. BMS also expressed thanks to Prime Minister Shri Modi for making a provision of retrospective effects. Now the workers will be able to get Bonus from 2014-15 financial year. The Government kept its promise, which it had given to the trade unions to enhance the Bonus calculation limit from Rs 3,500 to 7,000 and ceiling limit from Rs. 10,000 to 21,000. Leaders of 172 trade unions attended the felicitation function. Shri Arun Jaitley applauded the constructive role played by the BMS while raising the issues pertaining to the workers. Shri Bandaru Dattatreya said the government is committed to bring 40 crore workers of the unorganised sector under the social security net. He said a proposal is there to bring the auto rickshaw drivers and construction workers under the ESI scheme. BMS general secretary Vijesh Upadhyaya, Dy org secretary B Surendran, north zone org secretary Shri Pawan Kumar and many other senior leaders were also present on the occasion.
RSS swayamsevaks create a record
50,000 Hindi books worth Rs 17.50 lakh sold in one day; more than 3,000 volunteers join
RSS workers of in Meerut Prant, which comprise of 14 administrative districts of Western UP, created a record of sorts on December 25 when they sold 10,000 sets of five Hindi books each (total 50,000 books) in a single-day campaign lasting about 6 hours. The first book chosen for the campaign was a concise biography of Babasahab Ambedkar. The current year is the 125th birth anniversary year of Dr. Ambedkar. The second book was a collection of short biographies of women revolutionaries. The third one was Hindutva: Ek Drishti aur Jeevan Paddhti, a book throwing light on Hinduism as a way of life. The fourth one contained short inspiring stories for kids. The last one was a small health treatise based on Ayurveda—Sachcha Sukh, Nirogi Kaya.
All the books were priced at Rs. 35 each. Thus a set of all five books cost Rs 175. But it was decided that the set will be made available at Rs. 100 only. People very much appreciated this gesture and thronged to the make-shift stalls put up by the RSS volunteers at various public places in about 75 cities and 520 rural areas. Books were sold inside roadways and private buses also. Some professional book-sellers have shown interest in keeping such books in their shops. They were asked to contact Suruchi Sahitya, New Delhi which has published all these books. Ghaziabad District led the Prant in selling the most number of books—12,500 with about 760 workers participating. Meerut followed with 11,000 books sold by 680 workers. Total number of workers partaking in the Prant has been reported to be 3,125. (Ajay Mittal, Meerut)
SJM national convention in Jodhpur
National Convention of Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) was organised in Jodhpur from December 25 to 26. About 2,000 delegates from different parts of the country attended the convention. On second day a Swadeshi Sandesh Yatra was conducted from Ummed Stadium to Gandhi Maidan. The Yatra was extended rousing welcome at different places. At Gandhi Maidan, the Yatra got converted into a public meeting. Addressing the gathering SJM national convener Shri Arun Ojha said Swadeshi does not confine to the boundary of the home, but touches all walks of life. National organising secretary Shri Kashmirilal said Swadeshi leads to prosperity and self-reliance. Earlier, the convention was addressed by many senior leaders. National co-convener of Dr Bhagwati Prakash Sharma stressed on Made by India campaign. MP from Pali Shri PP Chaudhary appreciated the role of SJM in educating the masses. n
Tribute to Ramdaur Singh
Veteran BMS leader Ramdaur Singh passed away in Jaipur on December 24. He was a chronic diabetic patient. But for some time he developed another problem. Whenever his sugar level variated, he used to vomit continuously for some time. The same thing happened on December 22 when he attended the Vidyuth Mahasangh’s national executive meeting in Udaipur. The severe cold of North Bharat further complicated the things and he developed breathing problem also. His mortal remains were taken to his native village Annapur in Alapur tehsil of Ambedkar District, Uttar Pradesh after being paying tribute in Jaipur.
Born on July 5, 1941, he resigned the job from Postal RMS and became Sangh Pracharak. His main area of work was Uttar Pradesh. In 1983, he was shifted to Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh(BMS). He expanded the BMS work in Uttaranchal. In BMS, he held various responsibilities including national vice president. BMS zonal organising secretary Shri Pawan Kumar along with other karyakartas accompanied the mortal remains to Annapur. Many workers paid tribute en route in Agra, Kanpur and Faizabad. People of Annapur received the body with tears. BMS national deputy organising secretary Shri Surendran briefed about Ramdaurji’s contributions in strengthening the BMS all over the country. Prominent among those who paid tribute at the crematorium included senior Pracharak Shri Ashok Bheri, Kshetra Pracharak Shri Sivnarayan, BMS leaders Shri Sukh Dev Misra, Shri Akthar Hussain, Shri Virendrakumar, Shri Avadhes Kumar, etc.
