RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi said the Gita has the capacity to unite the entire world. “Today when the entire world seems to be afflicted with the depression and many other problems the Gita provides cure for all the ills. Gita has the power to curb depression and refill vigour,” Shri Joshi said while speaking at a day-long seminar organised at Kurukshetra University on December 18. About 2,000 scholars working on the Gita attended the
seminar. “If Bharat has to play a lead role in the world, every Bharateeya has to follow the teachings of Gita in practical life, as it encourages us to be a good human being,” Shri Joshi further said. Gita reminds us of our duty towards the nation, society and the individual. Gita is not a religious book rather an eternal grantha. If we really want to restore peace in the world we should follow the path shown by Gita, he added.
Senior Sangh Pracharak Shri Indresh Kumar while introducing the topic for discussion said the message of Gita is not for any particular country, geography or the community, it is for welfare of the entire universe. Gita teaches us how to face challenges. Gita Manishi Mahamandaleshwar Swami Gyananand said the Gita is more relevant today world over than 5151 years back. He said when we forget our duties the problems start surfacing.
Acharya Vivekmuni said today when the life of every person seems to be turning into Kurukshetra battle, the Gita shows the way in every circumstance. Mohd Hanif Khan Shastri of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan Delhi recalled his four decades long association with the Gita. He said Gita can eradicate terrorism from the world over. Governor of Haryana Shri Kaptan Singh Solanki said Gita provides solution to all the problems that the world faces today. Education Minister of Haryana Prof Rambilas Sharma also spoke.
Seva Bharati felicitates Army for service during Chennai Floods
Seva Bharati, which became a household name in Chennai and other flood-hit districts during the recent flood for its systematic rescue-relief-rehabilitation work, honoured men of the Armed Forces on December 16. Col D Pratip Kumar said that he got amazed seeing the contribution of Chennaites in the relief operation.
He said Chennai laid the benchmark of social responsibility which the nation has to follow. Lt. Col. A Raja Pillai said the army is credited with rescuing around 19,500 persons in all from the devastating floods, distributing 2,00,000 food packets and relief materials. Four medical teams were also set up to extend medical help to the public.
Swami Vimurthaananda Maharaj blessed the gathering. Shri K Suryanarayana Rao, senior RSS leader gave away the shield to the Army Officers. Subhashree Shriram, Head, Shriram City Union Finance Ltd. Chennai appreciated the role of Army during Chennai floods.
Seva Bharati Tamil Nadu during recent floods had sprung into action from the day one ie. December 1st and more than 5,500 Seva Bharati volunteers were serving the affected areas with devotion and dedication. Food was distributed to 21 lakh people in 118 relief centres, family kits were distributed with nearly 20 essential items to 63,000 families. Around 133 medical camps were conducted so far with 160 doctors which benefitted 23,000 people so far. Saving thousands of lives was the top priority. Even apple carts, temporary rafts with empty barrels tied together were used to save more than 1,350 men and women.
ABVP to clean Mithi River
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has chalked out an ambitious plan to clean and rejuvenate the heavily polluted Mithi River in Mumbai. Experts with various domain knowledge and students from colleges across Mumbai are being brought together to execute the project. Shri Yadunath Deshpande, joint organising secretary of Maharashtra, said: “The mapping of the river will start next year which will identify all entry points to this river. A comprehensive strategy to stop the toxic inflow from these points will then be taken.” The
8 km-long Mithi River originates from the overflow of both Virar and Powai lakes. It flows for around 17.8 km through Powai, Saki Naka, Kurla, Kalina, Vakola, Bandra-Kurla complex, Dharavi and Mahim before it meets the Arabian Sea at the Mahim Creek. In June 2015, level of water in the river, choked by effluents from illegal, small industries that have come up along the CST Road in Kurla and other areas along the banks, rose to 4.5 metre just 0.2 metre below the ‘danger mark’.
State level Kabaddi competition by Kreeda Bharati
Awadh Prant unit of Kreeda Bharati organised State level competition of Kabaddi at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedakr University in Lucknow. The competition was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of the University Prof RC Sobati and RSS Prant Sanghachalak Shri Prabhu Narayan. The teams from Muzaffarnagar, Sitarpur, Hardoi, Shamli, Faizabad, Ambedkarnagar and Varanasi participated in the competition. Muzaffarnagar team performed well and defeated the team of Shamli.
The medals were presented by Mayor of Lucknow Prof Dinesh Sharma. Prant Pracharak Shri Sanjay, Mohanlalganj MP Shri Kaushal Kishor and Kreeda Bharati Awadh Prant president Shri Avaneesh Kumar Singh were also present on the occasion.
Hindu Manch protest against atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh
Hindu Manch activists staged a protest in New Delhi on December 17 against the growing attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, demolition of their temples and also their forced conversion into Islam. They demanded the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure immediate curb on the atrocities. Hindu Manch Delhi State president Shri Anil Tripathi said the Hindus of Bharat are angry against the growing attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. Later a delegation presented a memorandum to Home Minister Shri Rajanth Singh and Foreign Affairs Minister Smt Sushma Swaraj demanding immediate action.
Bharateeya Bhasha Manch launched
In order to promote the Bharateeya languages, Bharateeya Bhasha Manch was launched in New Delhi on December 20. Shri Vrishbha Jain was appointed national convener of the new Manch. Delegates from 15 states representing 17 languages participated in the function organised at ICCR office in New Delhi.
The Manch endeavours to improve the use of Bharateeya languages in daily use and also connect them with the employment. The Manch will conduct campaign to promote the use of Hindi at the Central and at the State level. It will also bring the people or organisations working for languages under one platform.
Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi Patrakarita Vishwavi-dyalaya Bhopal Prof. BK Kuthiala elaborated how the mother tongues is given preference in other countries. Smt Pankaj Mittal spoke on the initiatives taken by the UGC to promote Bharateeya languages. Patron of the Bhasha Manch Shri Atul Kothari said if we want to change the country we shall have to change the education and if we have to change the education we shall have to change the languages.
