When majority of the voluntary organisations and government agencies have returned back, the RSS-Seva Bharati volunteers are still helping the flood victims in Chennai. They are organising regular health camps, conducting counselling of the victims and are also distributing relief material in various localities even now. On December 11, about 40 women activists visited Pulianthope, Pattalam, Choolai areas and rendered counselling to nearly 1,000 flood victims.
Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Shri M Venkaiah Naidu visited a relief material distribution centre and distributed relief to the victims at Tambaram. Seva Bharati State president Shri Durai Shankar, State secretary Shri Devi Prasad, BJP State president Dr Thamizhisai Soundarajan were also present on the occasion.
Nearly 50 doctors attended thousands of patients and medicines worth Rs 5,00,000 were distributed. Mass cleaning activity is still going on in various localities. n
School curriculum should give significance to Shivaji: Dattatreya Hosabale
RSS Sahsarkaryavah Shri Dattatreya Hosabale urged the universities and Management Institutes to study Bharateeya heroes like Shivaji to evaluate, study, understand and draw inspiration on good governance, warfare and leadership. He was speaking at a seminar on “Shivaji, Swaraj and Suraj” organised by Social Cause at Osmania University in Hyderabad on December 12. ‘Andhra Bhoomi’ editor MVR Sastry and president of Social Cause Dr Somaraju Suseela also shared the dais.
Shri Hosabale said Shivaji has not been understood, read and evaluated properly in the academic circles. That’s why most of the historians simply summarise Bharateeya history as a history of kings, wars and wives. It is total distortion of the history and it should be rewritten in right perspective. Swami Vivekananda had described Shivaji as a ‘hero of modern Bharat’, who represents real conscious of the country. Shivaji created confidence among the people and also showed how a leader should lead his people from the front and also take risk at times of crisis.
Shri Anil Madhav Dave said during his 36 years public life, Shivaji spent six years in warfare, and remaining 30 years were spent on good governance. Shivaji demonstrated the crucial need for creating sound systems, which would take care of the administration. That’s why the decision making process never stalled even if he was away from his capital city. He exhibited zero tolerance to corruption at both decision making level and execution.
Tribute to Pa Togan N Sangma
Noted freedom fighter of Meghalaya Pa Togan Sangma was paid rich tribute on his 143 martyrdom day on December 12. A function was held at Government Higher Secondary in Haldibari by Rishi Zilma under West Garo Hills. In the beginning, people were apprised of the life and work of Sangma. A procession began from Selsella High School after garlanding the statue of Sangma. Shouting the slogans like Togan Sangma Amar Rahe and Bharatmata Ki Jai local people carrying playcards joined the procession. A picture of the late Sangma was installed on a vehicle and it passed through different streets for about 45 minutes. Later addressing a function Shri Iren Singh Sangma introduced the guests and also stressed the need to follow the ideals of the late Sangma. Shri Surendra Talkhedkar recalled the sacrifice of the great freedom fighter on December 12, 1872. He said Sangma fought against
the Britishers as they were enemies of the nation. Similarly today also we have to fight against the enemies of the nation. n
Imbuing the spirit of Social Volunteering
Over 200 sewa organisations joined five day Mega Hindu Spiritual and Service Fair-2015 in Bengaluru which witnessed three lakh visitors.
Five day Mega Hindu Spiritual and Service Fair-2015 concluded at National College Grounds of Bengaluru on December 13 with the pledge for selfless service to the society, focusing to foster women honour, inculcate human and family values, instilling patriotism, sustaining environment, conserving forest and protect wildlife and to preserve ecology. About 200 major socio-religious service organisations of Karnataka participated in the Fair and set up stalls to showcase their service activities. The Fair provided a platform to spiritual and service organisations to showcase their sewa activities and also involved the public to be part of the process of social transformation. Nearly three lakh people visited the Fair during these five days.
On December 13, a special programme, Param Veer Vandana, was held in which noted spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar and Shri Chakravarti Sulibele addressed the gathering. Five former soldiers were felicitated on the occasion. Prizes were distributed to students who won various competitions held as a part of the Fair. About 3,000 students participated in various competitions. A special dance show based on Yoga postures was performed by ‘Yogashree’ group, a forum for Yoga in Bengaluru. Later Dr Aralu Mallige Parthasarathi and his team chanted ‘Samoohika Vishnu Sahasranama’.
At the concluding ceremony, organising secretary of Samskrit Bharati Shri Dinesh Kamat said the Mela was all about self-realisation of ourselves. “We should respect ourselves. It is all about realising our legacy, culture and traditions, more importantly the practice of ‘seva‘ by common citizens of this nation,” he said adding that our temples are not just centres of worships but are the centres of social transformation. Noted scientist and Head of Mangalayan Project Dr Mailaswamy Annadorai was chief guest at the valedictory function. He said science and spirituality should work together to serve the humanity. Sri Sri Adrishya Kada Siddeshwara Swamiji of Kanheri Math, Sri Sri Siddlinga Swamiji of Siddaganga Math of Tumkur and Sri Mangalana-thanand Swamiji of Ramakrishna Math Bengaluru also spoke. Discipline very essential in life: Bhaiyaji Joshi
“Indiscipline has caused huge damage to our nation. Therefore, discipline has to be maintained in every sphere of life. The RSS ‘Path Sanchalan’ imbibes this important aspect in the life,” said RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi while addressing the Bal swayamsevaks of Nagpur on December 12.
Selected Bal swayamsevaks participated in the path sanchalan. Starting from Dinanath High school in Dhantoli area the path sanchalan passed through Mehadia Square, Panchasheel Square, Lokmat Square, Indian Gymkhana and concluded back to Dinanath High school. Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi observed the sanchalan near Jaslin Hospital on Wardha Road. The sanchalan was welcomed by citizens at various places along the route. The overwhelming gathering of people showered flowers and raised patriotic slogans when the next generation of RSS was marching in awe. It was an overall joyous atmosphere all around. Vidarbha Prant Sahsanghachalak Shri Ram Harkare, Nagpur Mahanagar Sanghachalak Shri Rajesh Loya and Mahanagar Sahsanghachalak Shridharrao Gadge were also present on the occasion. (VSK Bharat)
