PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Kerala has boosted the morale of the State unit of BJP.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s maiden visit to Kerala since he took over in 2014 was a pleasant blitzkrieg  the State politics and a tremendous morale booster to the State unit of BJP. He arrived in Kochi on December 14 evening and immediately set out for Thrissur, the cultural capital of Kerala, by air. A saffron ocean of party workers from the districts of Palakkad, Malapuram, Ernakulam and Thrissur was waiting to have a look of him and to hear him.
He began his speech with a note of regret for not coming to Kerala earlier after assuming office. He also said that he liked to visit Sabarimala for Lord Ayyappa’s blessings, but, it has not been materialised so far as he was worried about the inconveniences it may cause to lakhs of pilgrims due to the security arrangements.  PM stated that his party workers  have been suffering from severe difficulties in the State which are alien to their counterparts in other parts of the country. He was referring to the political untouchability prevailing in the state. Rishis like Sree Narayana Guru and several renaissance and political leaders and social reformers tried to eradicate social untouchablity in the State. But, it still continues on political front. During the last 50 years, more than 200 RSS-BJP activists have been killed in Kerala by political opponents. They sacrificed their life for this motherland. No state in Bharat has witnessed such a plight. Kerala BJP’s commitment is a model for other states of the country. PM paid rich homage to those balidanis.  He continued, now the efforts of those who sacrificed their life at the altar of the motherland are moving towards fruition. Formerly the question was how many candidates got their deposits back. But, now the scenario  has changed. The people voted for BJP during the recently concluded local self governing bodies’ (LSGB) elections. Modi said that Kerala had been voting for both LDF and UDF every five years. Now, the people are for a change. A Third Force has arisen like the third eye of Param Shiva. He appealed to the people of Kerala to embrace and bless the Third Force led by BJP.
While sharing experience about his recent visit to UAE, he said that he met lot of hard working Keralites there. He visited the labour camps and interacted with the labour force from Bharat. “Lakhs of our people go abroad and do hard work there. So far we were not enquiring about our own brothers and sisters. Now, we reach out to them and find out means to enhance their welfare”, he added. He lauded Kerala youths for their intelligence, hard work, efficiency and good command in English language. He told that instructions  have been given to banks to help dalits and women and special boards will be formed to handle educational loans.

PM Unveils R Sankar’s Statue

PM Modi unveiled the statue of R Sankar, the former SNDP (community organisation of the Ezhavas) General Secretay, senior Congress leader and former chief minister of Kerala, in Kollam on December 15. The statue has been installed in SN College, Kollam. The college is under Sree Narayana Trust headed by Vellappally Natesan. He lauded the services and sterling qualities of Sankar. PM reminisced the founding of Hindu Mahamandalam by R Sankar and Mannathu Padmanabhan, the founder general secretary of NSS, the community organisation of the Nairs. He said that Sankar had met the Jana Sangh founder Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee in this regard and attended the Jana Sangh conference in Kanpur as a special invitee.
The Congress, CPI (M) and CPI leaders had questioned the credentials of the BJP and Narendra Modi to talk about R Sankar and unveil his statue as the formers are “communal” and the latter is “secular”! As a befitting reply, Janmabhumi Daily carried a write up quoting P Parameshwaran, veteran RSS pracharak, that Sankar was a swayamsevak in Kollam town Shakha of RSS which was attended by several lawyers. Shri P Parameshwaran says, Shakha was started by him when he was a Pracharak in Kollam. Later, PM visited the Shivagiri Ashram, founded by Sree Narayana Guru, where he was received by the sanyasins led by Swami Prakashananda, the head of the Ashram.                  —T Satisan
