RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat met the 24th Maha Sannidhanam of Thiruvavaduthurai Aadheenam Shri Ambalavana Desiga Paramacharya Swamiji on August 4 at Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari. Kshetra Pracharak Shri Sthanumaalayan also accompanied him during the meeting. Both the personalities had discussion on several issues concerning the country and the society.  


Bharat Parikrama Yatra completes three years

Bharat Parikrama Yatra being conducted by former Akhil Bharatiya Sewa Pramukh of the RSS Shri Sitaram Kedilaya completed three years on August 8. After visiting north-east the Yatra returned back to West Bengal through Nolongibari Village under Coochibihar District. The Yatra has completed more than 15,000 km distance so far.
Beginning on August 9, 2012 from Kanyakumari the Yatra has visited over 1,200 villages of 17 states, generating awareness on conservation of water, ecology and rural Indian values in village life. The Yatra had entered Assam on April 1 and travelled villages. Then the Yatra entered Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh for few days. The Yatra did not visit Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland and Sikkim. Shri Kedilaya also visited a village situated at Indo-Bhutan border. On July 25 the Yatra reached Ramaray Kuti Village of Ghubadi in Assam. On July 26, it returned to Uttar Bengal area through Bakshihat area. RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat had congratulated Shri Kedilaya on completion of 1,000 days on May 5 when the Yatra was in Tejpur, Assam.   


 Educating elected representatives about civic duties

Lok Sewa Trust, an RSS inspired voluntary organisation, conducted a workshop for educating elected representatives about their civic duties. The workshop was conducted on July 31 at Challakere in Chitradurga District of Karnataka. The Trust focuses on creating awareness among people’s representatives about their civic duties to bring good governance in villages. RSS Karnataka Prant Sewa Pramukh Shri Ganapati Hegade, some office bearers from Chamber of Commerce and Industries Challakere unit, social workers and nearly 100 elected representatives of various levels also participated in the workshop.    n


 Statewide protest by ABVP over
suicide by farmers

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) conducted massive protests all over Karnataka on August 4 against the State Government’s negligence towards the suicides by farmers in the State. ABVP said nearly 32,000 students participated in the protests at 53 places held across the State.  


 FANS demands certificate course for youth on security

Forum for Awareness of National Security (FANS) demanded a six month certificate course for school students studying in 11th and 12th standard to sensitise them about border, internal and social security. Pushing this idea, RSS National Executive Member Shri Indresh Kumar while addressing a seminar organised at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi on August 1, said such a decision would help people to develop commitment towards the nation.
Many other distinguished personalities including Union Ministers Shri Jitendra Kumar, Shri Kiran Rijiju, Rao Indrajeet Singh, National Book Trust Chairman Shri Baldevbhai Sharma, etc were also present on the occasion.
Shri Indresh Kumar also stressed the need to create a separate department or commission to exclusively look after the border areas. “Such a department is needed to focus on the development of border areas ensure education, training, health, infrastructure and meeting other needs of the people living in those areas,” he said.
He underlined four principles of security—love for every inch of land, love for every citizen, people to behave like real brothers/sisters and land is not merely land but the motherland.
He said the government should ensure that no citizen of the country should die in any attack or violence, borders of the country should not reduce and people living in border areas should not be displaced from those areas.   


 Sewa Bharati in flood relief

The recent floods caused heavy loss in several parts of the country and claimed the lives of many, displacing thousands. The floods caused heavy loss in Gujarat, Rajasthan and many other states. In this hour of crisis the Sewa Bharati as usual swung into action and saved the lives of many and also provided instant relief to the victims. In Gujarat, the Sewa Bharati activists provided relief in more than 70 flood affected villages. More than 250 workers joined the relief and rescue operation in the villages of Banaskantha District. Teams of doctors are treating not only the humans but also the cows in the goushalas. The Sangh swayamsevaks also provided relief material to the flood victims in Bhinmal, Jalor District of Rajasthan.    


 Statewide cycle rally by NMO in Gujarat

With the motto of health for all the Gujarat unit of National Medicos Organisation (NMO) started a 1,400 km cycle Yatra from Kutch to Valsad. The cycle rally was flagged off in Bhuj on August 3 and will conclude on September 11. A total of 35 cyclists will treat and educate the people during the whole Yatra for 41 days. Enumerating details of the Yatra, NMO national president Dr Bharatbhai Ameen said people in the modern age are ignoring exercise and thus suffers from various diseases. The growing use of vehicles is leading to pollution. He said the people would be treated free of cost wherever the Yatra halts. Special emphasis will be made on diabetes and prohibition.  He called upon the doctors to spend 10 per cent of their income on social activities. He also apprised the people of the sewa activities being conducted in north-eastern states. Dr Tirpathi, incharge of the Cycle Rally, said cycling can help one curing diabetes. Prior to starting the rally, a 14 km long cycle rally was conducted in Bhuj city. Gujarat president of NMO Dr Prakash Kurmi, vice president Dr Chandrakantbhai Thakkar and many other distinguished personalities were also present on the occasion.
