This refers to the recent stampede which took place at the Godavari Pushkaram Festival also called the Kumbh of the South in which 27 people died and more than 60 devotees got injured. Lakhs of pilgrims throng temple towns across Bharat every year, which do not have the infrastructure for crowd management. This leads to chaos and often stampedes etc. Often the devotees are also to be blamed for being undisciplined. The officials should identify all possible threats, vulnerable locations and regulate the flow of crowd. Unless effective crowd management techniques are made mandatory in places where massive ceremonies take place, such tragedies are bound to repeat.

Hungry for Money
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s appeal to the public to donate money for his Aam Aadmi Party is absurd. It also shows poor management and Mr Kejiwal’s sheer inefficiency. He flooded the radio and television media with government and party advertisements, falsely praising himself and his party. No wonder , there is now no money. How will now Mr Kejriwal build the many schools and colleges or give free wifi, as he had promised in the AAP manifesto.

Letter from IIT Director
This refers to the news item titled ‘IIT head refutes Sangh charges’ published in The Telegraph dated 22.7.2015. Following is the response which the IIT Director, Bhubaneshar, Pro. R V Raja Kumar has send to Organiser. “I am sorry to say that the title is false and misleading. The statement I have made is with reference to two institutes; IIT Bhubaneswar, wherein I have been serving as Director for the last three months and IIT Kharagpur, where I have been working for the last three decades. I do not have any information nor I am aware of the happenings in the other IITs/NITs on the claim by the said article in the Organiser and I cannot comment on the statement claimed therein. Therefore, I am neither in a position to refute nor support the statement made in the article of Organiser titled ‘Protest or Conspiracy’?’ by Sandeep Singh. Indeed I have neither refuted nor supported the claim. Rest of the remarks attributed to me in The Telegraph are properly portrayed. I am pained with the attribution made to me about refutation of the charges .”

A Tale of Two Ghaznavis (Organiser, 5.7.2015); Yuette C Rosser has critically analysed the history textbooks being taught to the students in Pakistan and India, in the article titled ‘A Tale of Two Ghaznavis’, in Organiser. Although a foreigner , she has a much better understanding of the problem , than our so-called secular friends. It is clear , that Pakistani textbooks praise Muslim invaders like Muhammed bin Quasim , Mahmud Ghaznavi , Aurangzeb, etc. as heroes of Islam, where as Indian textbooks simply mention them as greedy plunderers and hide crimes and sins committed by them against innocent unarmed civil population, and destruction of our temples and religious places. This has made the Muslims more aggressive. |
