Readers’ Forum : A Year of Turnaround

(Organiser, 31.5.2015 ); This refers to the editorial in Organiser titled ‘A year of Turnaround’. Turnaround has been categorised at three levels and it covers practically all aspects, but it would be impossible to do much under the present constitutional set up, which is very much anti- Hindu and anti-national, and everything stands tuned in negative direction. Therefore, it is certainly a gigantic task, which needs basic constitutional changes. In this connection, it would be appropriate to mention the courageous steps taken by our immediate Buddhist neighbour, Myanmar (Burma). A Bengali Muslim community called Rohingyas, got settled in Myanmar during the British rule, when Myanmar was a province of India, and created a Muslim majority pocket. These Muslims wanted their pocket to be separated from Myanmar and merged with East Pakistan. Since they were unsuccessful in it, they wanted autonomy and declared jihad. Myanmar government declared them as non-citizens and deprived them of their rights and imposed many restrictions on them. Now they are leaving Myanmar and are suffering due to their own unfaithful acts towards Myanmar. It must be pointed out that Muslims living in truncated India are worse than Rohingyas, as they created not only their separate homeland Pakistan  in 1947,but are also creating all sorts of problems for the Hindus and non-Muslims in India. If Buddhists of Myanmar could do this courageous deed, there is no reason, why we should fail to do so, specially, when we have been lucky to have BJP government.

Junk The JUNK

(Organiser
, 14.6.2015 ); This refers to the article ‘Junk the JUNK’ by Aniket Raja in the Kids’ Org. page of Organiser. In this connection I want to say that  celebrity brand ambassadors are minting enormous amount of money through advertisements of commodities which, as we now see with the Maggi case, may cause harm to consumers. It makes sense that they too should be made liable for false claims made during advertisements. Also the advertisement fees charged by the celebrities are added to the cost of the product that is paid for by the consumer. By doing this the consumer is cheated twice.

Spreading Wings of Wellness

(Organiser, 21.6.2015); Apropos of the  special issue on Yog, titled  ‘Spreading Wings of Wellness’, Organiser. Some Muslim leaders are opposing  Yog. One can trust Islamic fundamentalists like Asaduddin Owaisi, the head of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and a Member of the Parliament to pounce on something as innocuous as Yog and condemn it anti- Islamic. Owaisi’s and his lot have especially objected to one asan i.e. Surya Namaskar. Those who are familiar with this asan know that it does not involve any kind of worship of the Sun God, as the Muslim leaders are now suggesting. Just like any other asans Surya Namaskar is just a regular exercise that ensures physical fitness and well being. It is ridiculous to see any hidden religious meaning behind Yog.

Disruptive Democracy

It has been rightly said, “Democracy can be fruitful when each party carefully listens to what the others say.”How true. Just sit in the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha gallery and see how the minority Opposition behaves. In spite of the humiliating defeat the Congress still has a dynastic mentality that the Gandhi family is born to rule even if it loses. Sitting in Opposition the Congress is thwarting each and every move of the BJP. The Opposition should act responsibly and look into long terms benefits for the country, for which the BJP is religiously working. The Prime Minister in Mann ki baat has clearly assured that he will never sacrifice the interest of the nation especially the farmers for the benefit of few people. Narendra Modi’s government is doing its best to bring an overall growth and development of the nation.
