Hindu Samrajya Divas, the coronation day of Chhatrapati Shivaji, was observed all over the country on May 31. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) organised three functions in Delhi. Addressing a function at Indraprastha Extension, BJP general secretary Shri Ram Madhav said India has long tradition of having great personalities.
“We in the Sangh celebrate this Utsava to generate self-confidence in the society. Chhatrapati Shivaji is the source of inspiration for all of us. His entire life and struggle have been the prime inspiration in the Freedom Movement till 1947. Shivaji’s life teaches us to have the feeling of swadeshbhakti, swabhimaan and swadharmanishta. It is basically to remind these qualities we organise Hindu Samrajya Diwas every year,” Shri Ram Madhav said.
Bhubaneswar unit of RSS organised various functions at different places. The speakers elaborated on the coronation of Shivaji and foundation day of Hindu Swarajya. They said Shivaji became an example of patriotism and generousness by protecting the motherland as a Hindu leader. Speaking at a function at Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir Shri Subhash Nandi, senior worker of Simanta Surakhya Samiti said Shivaji created the base of an ideal ruling system and infused courage and self-confidence among the Indians.
Addressing a function at Jalandhar Punjab BJP Art and Culture Cell president Kishanlal Sharma said caste and religion had no place in the regime of Shivaji. He said Shivaji generated the feeling of unity among all people under his rule. He is still an ideal for the rulers and many of his policies are still relevant. —Organiser Bureau
The twelfth Dhanwantari Sewa Yatra was organised jointly by Purbanchal Sewa Bharati and National Medicos Organisation from May 17 to 24. A total of 121 medicos including 63 specialists and 58 medical students treated the patients in 21 groups. 21 doctors from RIMS Manipur also extended help in the Yatra. One team each was sent to Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Meghalaya, while in Arunachal Pradesh two teams each were sent. In Assam, 14 teams were sent. All the doctors reached Guwahati on May 16 and the Yatra was formally inaugurated on May 17. Each team organised five camps at five different places between May 19 to 23. On May 24, all the doctors assembled in Guwahati where they were felicitated. Prominent doctors who joined the Yatra included national president of NMO Dr Bharatbhai Amin, national organising secretary Dr Chandrabhanu Tripathi, Dr Jashubhai Patel from America, Dr Vishambar Singh and Dr Pratik Agrawal from BHU, Dr Narendra Paliwal, Dr Manish Barwalia, Dr Viren Naik, Dr Nidhi Patel, Dr Sandhya Khaldakar, Dr Pragya Kalarthi, Dr Vishwash Sapanekar, Dr Madhukar Bhatt, Dr Mukul Bhatia, Dr Umesh Chaudhary, Dr Sotu De and Dr Vinod Adhikari. A total of 111 medical camps were organised in 111 villages of 30 districts. In all the camps, a total of 23,986 patients were treated. Since 2005, when the Yatra began, a total of 1,31,000 patients have been treated in 2011 villages. —Organiser Bureau
Bharatiya Maz-door Sangh workers demonstrated outside Qatar Embassy in New Delhi on June 3 to protest against the killing of workers in Qatar. BMS general secretary Brijesh Upadhyaya and organising secretary of north zone Shri Pawan Kumar addressed the workers. Later a memorandum was presented to Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj requesting her to save the Indian workers from slavery at Qatar Doha.
It is to be noted that about 1.5 million migrant workers from South Asian countries i.e. India, Nepal and Pakistan are working in Doha since five years for the preparations of 2022 World Football Cup. They are treated inhumanly and are not being paid their wages. They are also being forced to work for more than 14 hours without any brake for meals. Many of them have reached the stage of starvation and are suffering from critical diseases.
Approximately 700 workers have died so far. At the time of earthquake in Nepal, the Nepali workers were not allowed to visit their native places. The contractors have snatched their passports to stop them from leaving the country. All this is being done under the controversial provision named “KAFALA” which in other words keeps a migrant worker like a slave. —Organiser Bureau
Senior Sangh Pracharak and office bearer of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Sharad Laghate passed away in Delhi on May 31. He was 75. He was suffering from diabetes for some time. He breathed his last at Safdarjang Hospital. VHP general secretary organisation Shri Dinesh Chandra and many senior Sangh and VHP leaders paid tribute to the departed soul.
Laghate was born on October 12, 1940 at Igatpuri in Maharashtra. He became a Sangh Pracharak in 1958. He held various responsibilities including the Murena Nagar Zila Pracharak. He moved in the entire district on his bicycle. Later he was sent to Bhopal. After Emergency he took up the VHP work in Mumbai. Later he came to VHP central office in Delhi. He used to write letters to editors of various newspapers in Hindi, English and Marathi. The compilation of his letters was later published as
‘Meri Patra Yatra’.
Senior Sangh Pracharak of Kerala Mohan Kukiliya, popularly known as Mohanji, passed away in Kochi on June 3. He was 87. He was first Prant Karyalaya Pramukh and also the first Vyavastha Pramukh of Kerala. He was ailing since the last more than a year. A few days back he also suffered from a stroke.
After completing his studies Mohanji joined Corporation Bank. The job took him to several parts of the State and wherever he went he plunged into the Sangh work. Thalassery and Kozhikkkode are some of the places he worked. He left his bank job in 1969 and became a Pracharak. The then Prant Pracharak the late Bhaskar Rao Kalambi made him the Prant Karyalaya Pramukuh. Later he became Prant Vyavastha Pramukh. He shouldered these responsibilities for more than three decades. Meanwhile, he was secretary of Rashtra Dharma Parishad, a trust owning Kerala RSS Pranth Karyalaya, Saraswathi Vidya Nikethan Senior Secondary School and the adjacent premises.
A high level delegation of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat called Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on May 30 and urged him to celebrate the 350th Prakash Diwas of Guru Gobind Singh on large scale. The delegation also requested the PM to rename GT Karnal Road as Guru Tegh Bahadur Road. The delegation attracted the attention of PM to the martyrs of Gadar Party and requested to build a memorial in their memory. The delegation included Sikh Sangat founder Sardar Chiranjeev Singh, patron Shri Ramesh Prakash Sharma, president Sardar Gurucharan Singh Gill, organising secretary Shri Avinash Jaiswal and general secretary Dr Avatar Singh Shastri. —Organiser Bureau
