Intro: None of the Naga militant organisations in Nagaland fears of the Central Government in Delhi as their roots pass through churches of Nagaland and reach up to Washington and London where they have their sympathisers.
In the three consecutive ambushes, National Socialist Council of Nagaland—Khaplang (NSCN-K) has killed 12 jawans of Assam Rifles (AR) last month since the ceasefire was abrogated in April this year. In the recent attack on ‘C’ Company of 23 Assam Rifles, eight jawans including a jawan of Naga (Territorial Army) Battalion were killed in two separate ambushes by NSCN(K) terrorists on May 3 while nine jawans were injured. The incident occurred at a place which is 10 kilometres away from Tobu town and opposite to Post 148 between Changlang Su and Tobu town in Mon District of Nagaland. The incident took place at a time when the jawans in a truck were escorting a tanker to fetch water from Changlang Su to Tabu town. In the first ambush, three jawans died on the spot. On learning the trap, reinforcement party of the Assam Rifles rushed to the spot where NSCN (K) militants were in wait and launched the second attack. Five jawans were killed in second attack. The NSCN(K) militants also decamped three weapons belonging to the slain AR jawans. The AR jawans killed one NSCN(K) militant in retaliation while another who was injured was dragged away by co-militants.
NSCN(K) has claimed the responsibility of the attacks. Earlier on April 25, NSCN(K) killed one jawan of 19 Assam Rifles in Kohima. On April 2, three Army jawans were killed and three others were wounded when NSCN(K) ambushed an army convoy in Tirap District of Arunachal Pradesh. May 2, four NSCN(K) militants were killed in an encounter with Indian Army at Kamlengching Village under Nungba Police Station in Tamenglong. NSCN(K) has abrogated the 14 years old ceasefire signed with Delhi on the plea that any “meaningful peace and political interaction” with Government of India should be premised on the ground that Nagas were a sovereigncpeople which Delhi does not and should not agree.
No more lackadaisical approach
Due to lackadaisical and insincere approach by Delhi during Congress rule from last many decades, the militant organisations have been on rise in North-East region and hundreds of military and para-military jawans have been gruesomely murdered by these terrorist organisations dancing at the tune of foreign powers. These militant organisations do this openly because they do not fear Delhi. This is the reason that even a small militant organisation like National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sangbijit–NDFB–S) caused a genocide in Kokrajhar District of Assam on December 23 in recent past wherein more than 100 people were killed, hundreds were injured, over a thousands of houses were burnt and over a lakh of people took shelter in several relief camps. This time, Narendra Modi Government in Delhi was prompt enough and Operation Flush Out was immediately launched. Several of cadres of NDFB(S) were killed, several arrested and Sangbijit (the Chief of NDFB—S) is reported to be hiding in Myanmar. Now, peace has returned in Kokrajhar of Assam. But in Nagaland, the situation is entirely different. None of the Naga militant organisation fear Delhi. The reason is that their roots pass through churches of Nagaland and reach up to Washington and London where they have their sympathisers. If not controlled in the very beginning, it will compel the people of Nagaland leave a sleepless night.
