State : Get Converted or Get Raped

Intro: ‘If you fail to convert a Hindu woman, rape her’ is the guiding principle of Jihadi goons in Uttar Pradesh.

With the State Police stubbornly refusing even to take a complaint from the victim, not to speak of taking action upon the same, the jihadi elements are emboldened.
An incident reported by the Delhi Hindi daily Punjab Kesari (April 23) goes to tell an extremely sorry state of affairs in UP in which a Hindu woman tenant residing in a Muslim’s house along with his husband, was raped twice at night by the Muslim landlord when she refused to convert to Islam. The event took place when her husband was away from home.
The woman Anju (name changed to conceal identity), and her driver husband are tenants at a Muslim household in the Sultan Nagar locality of Gajraula, a small town on the National Highway 24 connecting New Delhi and Lucknow. The landlord is a quack, running an apparently unauthorised clinic. He is reported to be in the habit of pressurising Anju behind her husband to adopt Islam. He would tell her that if she becomes a Muslim, along with her husband, he would forego the rent for a year or even more. But Anju clearly refused every time. On the night of March 20, when Anju's husband was away from home on a night duty with his cab, this quack, named Idris, gate crashed into Anju's room, threatened her with a revolver, gagged her mouth, and brutally raped her twice during the night. She informed her husband the next day when he returned from duty. Both went to Gajraula Police Station to lodge a complaint only to be rebuked and forcibly returned by the officer on duty. The victim sent an application by post to the Superintendent of Police of Amroha district, but to no avail.
Thereafter, the couple went to a criminal court on whose orders an FIR was registered by the police on April 22 under Section 376 of IPC. But even after registration of the FIR, the attitude of the police is not helpful. The culprit is at large and using the police to pressure the victim into some sort of legal compromise.
The whole story raises serious questions about the (mis)conduct of the UP police. If such be the law-enforcers, where would go the law-and-order situation in the State. A woman subjected to the most heinous crime a man can do to a woman, is running from pillar to post along with her husband in search of justice and that too simply because she happens to be a devout Hindu, firm in her faith.
Another incident has been reported from Meerut. A 16-year old girl student residing at Sainik Vihar, Nagla Tasi under Kankarkhera Police Station of Meerut was kidnapped in a car by one Shahzad, along with his three accomplices, in the evening of April 23. She was gagged and gang-raped by the four throughout night. It is learnt that Shahzad was known to her and is a love jihadi. Failing to get her converted to Islam, he took recourse to this diabolical way, so say a number of people in the locality. After gang-raping her, they threw her from the car at a village-side in district Bulandshahar in the morning of April 24. The girl managed to reach home and told everything to her parents. An FIR was lodged with the Kankarkhera Police Station. The girl belongs to a scheduled caste family. The entire locality and many Hindu organisations working in the Meerut city are seething with anger. People allege that such incidents are on the rise because the State police under the alleged directions from the State government, shows sheer callousness in such matters. —Ajay Mittal from Meerut
