Intro: Western UP is fast turning into a dense forest for terrorists and Bangladeshi infiltrators. After the arrest of a suspicious terrorist Abdul Aziz from Noida the intelligence agencies and security forces are worried over it.
The arrest of suspicious Bangladeshi terrorist Abdul Aziz from Noida on December 19 unearthed the threat emerging in Western Uttar Pradesh. Aziz stayed in Deoband for 2.5 years after he entered into India. The ATS of Bengal and UP and also the IB jointly nabbed him.
According to sources, a voter ID, Aadhar Card and Pass Book of Union Bank of India branch in Deoband were recovered from Aziz. He was arrested following links with his associate Barqatullah who is also from Bangladesh. Barqatullah had called Aziz from Deoband to get a laptop. An ATS officer told this correspondent that Aziz has jehadi mentality.
Abdul Aziz who belonged to village Krishna Rampur under Beghamganj police station of Naukhali district, was getting Islamic education in Deoband. Since his voter ID of Hyderabad was found suspicious by various madrasas of Deoband, he was getting education without seeking formal admission anywhere. This system of education is called ‘Samat’.
According to ATS inspector Sudesh Gupta, both the voter ID and Aadhar card made in Hyderabad, were found fake. Even the UP police did not find it necessary to identify the house owner in whose house Aziz was living as a tenant. The intelligence officers of Deoband and Saharanpur are also silent on it. Nobody felt it necessary to investigate the links of Aziz. It also makes it clear that how serious is the state government for security.
It was because of this tendency of state government that six SIMI operatives escaped after blast site when they were making bombs in Bijnore. The UP ATS had also arrested one Faiaz Ali from Meerut on July 21, 2014. State Home Secretary Deva-shish Panda admitted in his letter to Defence Ministry that ISI is spreading its network among the youth in Western UP. Sometime back a terrorist was arrested from Saharanpur also by Delhi police.
But the UP police take such activities lightly. It only helps the terrorists to operate easily. When the central agencies try to nab them, the state police stay away.     —Surender Singhal
