(Organiser ,21.9.2014); This is with reference to the article ‘J&K Floods: Overcoming Nature’s Fury’ by Lt.(Retd) SA Hasnain in Organiser. The unprecedented flood in Jammu and Kashmir is a sad reminder that not enough has been done by successive governments to deal with the natural calamities. While Jammu and Kashmir is faced with a grim situation for the first time in 60 years, it is deplorable that the reasons behind such repeated natural calamities, whether in Uttarakhand or Odisha last year, have neither been studied nor any corrective measures taken. The Meteorological Department, Central Water Commission and National Disaster Management Authority should coordinate their plans in future to minimise human suffering arising out of natural calamities and flood.

I think the recent election results have proved that the common Indian voter has now evolved and has more sense than many so-called liberals. They are no longer willing to be taken for a ride in the name of secularism –a slogan designed to keep Congress in power with the help of self-serving parties like SP and BSP the nation wants jobs, progress and development. It has given a resounding verdict against corruption. Hopefully so-called liberals will get the message unless they want to be forced into extinction.

Reform Indian sports too
Sachin Tendulkar served Indian Cricket Team for many years and truly he has uplifted the name of the country by achieving remarkable international records. He has now retired from Indian Cricket and we find him pre-occupied as Member of Rajya Sabha. We see him using all his energy in accomplishing his personal feat by authoring and publishing a book on his career. But we don’t expect only this from him after being a MP of Rajya Sabha. Basically being a sportsman and then a Member of the Parliament, we wish that he will reform and bring a sea change in the scenario of sports in the country.

How would Upadhyaya view Indian Economy?
(Organiser, 28.9.2014); This refers to ‘How would Upadhyaya view Indian Economy?’ by C Rajashekhar in Organiser. He has discussed a number of factors from various angles. Here I would like to discuss only three factors out of them. Firstly, “ We should have decided to make progress without foreign aid.”We find that China has progressed many times more. On the other hand , in India , the followers of Gandhi and Nehru indulged in corruption and remained in power with the help of Muslim votes, who voted en mass to these corrupt leaders by getting various undue advantages for their community. China does not have Muslim factor. Secondly, “Checking expenditure on administration.” Our so-called secular leaders created huge number of unproductive jobs in government establishments with three to four times more pay, than in private jobs, only to get votes. To absorb more employees complicated rules were made to keep them busy. Thirdly, “We must learn to live within our limits.”Our so-called secular rulers have been promoting consumerism and copying western way of life. They are least bothered about the country and its limits.

Country loses an incomparable journalistIn the passing away of Shri MV Kamath on October 4th, 2014 the country has lost an incomparable journalist of great knowledge and deep understanding of public affairs. Organiser has lost a regular contributor of incomparable knowledge and a rare style. His writings on current happenings in the country will be deeply missed. He is uniquely irreplaceable. His patriotism was optimistic. |
