Intro: In order to keep VAT, PIT and KAPH, termed as TRIDOSH in balance, we must get up befor sunrise, spare half an hour for asanas, eat healthy food and have plenty of water.?

Technology might have brought comforts but it has extremely imbalanced the human life. It is evident from the growth of various diseases which the human beings are facing today. In Vedic era life was treated as a natural process. But today the artificial lifestyle and luxurious comforts are slowly and gradually eroding the human existence.

In the modern lifestyle there is less physical work as compared to that of mind. In urban areas, all day long, we sit on a chair and perform magic with our fingers. This results into an increase in body fat. As a result, there is improper appetite. It further results into overeating. The factor that worsens the situation is that we don’t know what to eat, how to eat and when to eat. This ends in eating junk food.
Good appetite, good excretion of sweat and good sleep are of paramount to achieve healthy body and healthy mind. If we take yoga as an important part of the lifestyle, we will never face any problem related to mind and body. Yoga is, no doubt, an extraordinary beneficial branch of science that man has discovered. It is no less than a gem with many facets whose light can illuminate our life. Yogic methods cover almost every aspect of our existence. These aspects range from physical, emotional, mental and spiritual to self-realisation through asanas, prana-yams, chanting dharma and dhyan. You can achieve a long lasting goal for your healthy life. In the present times, yoga is a common term in the western sphere of the world. The Westerners are reaping benefits from the things of Indian origin. On the contrary, we are drifting towards an unhealthy lifestyle which is harmful.
In order to bring happiness, health and peace in life, we should have a healthy body and healthy mind. Practising yoga and eating healthy food can help us maintain ourselves. If we spare just half an hour for asanas and pranayam, we can lead a happier life. It is a universally acknowledged truth that life is very scientific in Indian culture. From sunrise to sun set, we put in a number of efforts to acquire good health. In order to keep VAT, PIT and KAPH, termed as TRIDOSH, in balance, one must wake -up before sun rise. A fact worthy of special mention is that drinking one litre of water in a brass jug is good for digestion. Make sure that you do so before you enter your washroom. Moreover, performing Surya namaskar, chanting mantra, and offering water to the sun helps in healthy skin. It is supported by the fact that when sunlight passes through that water, the shadow of that water prevents us from skin diseases. You will be delighted to know that eating a few soaked almonds every day with honey gives extraordinary energy to our mind.

On some special occasions and when the weather changes, keeping fast is the best remedy for cleansing process. Eating a few neem leaves during that period purifies our blood. After lunch, take rest for a short period. It is a yogic technique to relax and digest your meal. It is termed as 8-16-32’ technique. According to this technique, we must rest on our left side and take 8 breaths, then turn to our right side and take 16 breaths and finally rest on our back and take 32 breaths. After performing this technique, we can start our work. Drinking hot milk with honey helps us enjoy a deep sleep. Always wash your feet, mouth and hands before that. Ayurvedic diet can remove all the grave diseases. We remain unaware of what to eat.
This reminds me of a short anecdote. Maharishi Charak was passing through a forest. A student was walking along with him. All of a sudden, they heard a bird saying Kauruk, kauruk, kauruk. These sound words by the bird provoked the curiosity of the student and he asked the Maharishi what the bird was saying. Maharishi was a great yogi who could understand the language of birds. Maharishi replied that the bird is saying: Ritbhuk i.e take diet according to the season; Hitbhuk, eat only that food item which is beneficial to our body and Mitbhuk, eat less than your appetite.
Remember, we must always eat the fruits and vegetables that the ongoing season offers. But now in this fast-paced life, we don’t mind eating frozen food which aggravates the poison in the body. We must educate ourselves on what our body needs. Some people eat rice with yogurt and some like rice with oil. One must take precautions, while planning his/her diet and preparations.
We must listen to the inner voice of the body and then choose the food. Then eat lesser than your appetite. After you finish the meal, you must feel that there is some space left in your stomach. Another factor that has a vital role to play is your income. If you buy any food item by means of any corrupt practice, it will bring a disease in the family and body.  Dr Varunveer ?(The writer is a leading Yogacharya)?
