Vigilant society is the key, Govt can just facilitate —Sarsanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat?

Nagpur:
Welcoming the change heralded by larger participation of awakened voters in May 2014 General Elections that witnessed the BJP-Government headed by Narendra Modi firmly in saddle at the Centre, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat on October 3 cautioned the society against relying entirely on the government for desired transformation of the nation in its journey towards achieving the status of Vishwa Guru and a global leader.
Sounding the warning bell that “mere political power cannot bring about the desired change in the society”, Shri Bhagwat laid more emphasis on creating a class of active and vigilant individuals and organisations engaged in giving direction to the society and solving its various problems. This class could help the government through its activism, awareness and maturity in national interest and protecting the nation from possible detraction in the game of power politics, he added.

Shri Bhagwat was addressing the annual Vijayadashami function at the historic Reshambag grounds here coinciding with the foundation of the RSS way back in 1925. Vidarbha Prant Sah Sanghachalak Shri Ram Harkare, Nagpur Mahanagar Sanghachalak Dr Dilip Gupta, Sah Sanghachalak Shri Laxmanrao Pardikar also shared the dais. Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra BJP president Devendra Fadanvis, Rashtra Sevika Samiti Pramukh Sanchalika Shantakka Tai, former Pramukh Sanchalika Pramilatai Medhe, former MP Banwarilal Purohit, senior RSS leaders Shri MG Vaidya, Shri Ranga Hari, Shri Shankarrao Tatvavadi, Dr Manmohan Vaidya, Jain Muni Shri Suvir Sagar Maharaj and many others were prominently present on the occasion.
Dada Vasvani, president of Sadhu Vasvani Mission, in his 96th year of age was to address the swayamsevaks at Mahotsav. But due to health problems he could not make it to the programme. However, audio clip of his speech was played for the audience followed by reading of his speech by Sridhar Gadge. In his message he said: “Men of character, humility and selfless love, compassion for the society can only make future of India. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is the only such organisation that produces people and therefore RSS is the hope of new India.”
Quoting his Gurudev Sadhu Vasvani, the chief guest in absentia, said money, science, technology or material prosperity does not make the country great. This mission is performed by men and women of character those who do not go hankering after any post or position in public life. They rejoice in service of the poor, needy and neglected Indians. The RSS is busy in this mission of moulding men of character and as such it is the only hope for the reconstruction and transformation of the society, he added emphatically.
Raising questions over the validity of Independence Dada Vasvani asked whether India can be called a free country when lakhs of Indians live sans any shelter over their heads, millions are deprived of health care facilities and lakhs of children are not even given the basic education. He said the country was passing through a difficult time and we need to take it out and march towards a better and bright future of love, unity, peace and fraternity by eliminating the dangers of terrorism and corruption, hatred and violence and selfishness and greed.
Giving some very vital suggestion that would take the country towards bright future, Dada Vasvani appealed to the youth to develop a sense of service to the nation and society. Put the nation first in your life, he said. Secondly, he stressed on adopting simplicity and purity in life. Real beauty of life lies in simplicity and purity, he said making a fervent appeal to adopt and imbibe these two values in our habits, clothing and food.
Be proud to be Indians was his third suggestion. Hitting hard at the concept of globalised world, he said such concept only spread values like selfishness, running after material comforts, and wealth. We need not ape the others. We should take pride in being Indians. Noting that science and technology was necessary but more necessary was controlling the mind. According to Indian thinking self discipline is the best science which is otherwise known as yoga. Yoga teaches us to control our mind and body, our expectations and aspirations. He said science did not teach us to control our passions. For this is need to master “Atma Vidya”, he said.
Calling for more attention towards the uplift of poor, Dada Vasvani said dissemination of proper education that improves the overall standard of the people and not just make them clever and cunning with hearts sans emotions. The real meaning and intention of the education is to serve the poor and downtrodden with faith and respect and attitude of service.                                              –Virag Pachpore?
