Intro: The political murders will not stop until the puppet masters are brought to the book. No State government agency can reach out and do this job. Only Central Government agencies, which are safely out of the reach of this deeply entrenched political establishment, can put an end to this nightmare. ?

Kannur, the epicentre of Marxist terror in Kerala has seen hundreds of murders over a period spanning decade. The dead include Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Yuva Morcha Vice – President K T Jayakrishnan Master, BJP Kannur District Secretary Pannyannnur Chandran, Tellicherry Shareerik Shikshak Pramukh Satheeshan, Kuthuparambu Taluk Sahakaryavah PP Mohanan and countless other karyakartas. Thousands of people have lost their limbs which includes former Tellicherry Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Zila Shareerik Pramukh Sumesh and Zila Karyavah and school teacher Sadaanandan Master who had both his legs chopped off. Houses have been destroyed and people, mostly swayamsevaks, been forced out of their homes and villages and never allowed to return.
Manoj, RSS Kannur Shareerik Pramukh pushed his friend and BJP activist towards the door of the Maruti Omni he was driving and shouted “Get out and run”. His car, hit by a bomb, had gone out of control and slammed against a roadside post on September 1. The party had tried to kill Manoj three times since 1977 but, each time he had escaped by a whisker.
The ” Provocation ” and the logic of political murder
Provocation for the latest attacks was sudden erosion in Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) ranks which started as a leak and developed into a deluge. Hundreds of party workers, 431 workers to be exact, from its Kannur strongholds joined the BJP at a public function organised by the BJP on August 24. The Marxists also want to provoke retaliation from the BJP so as to drive a wedge between the cadres of the two organisations thus cutting channels of communication.
The CPM has always resorted to strong arm tactics to ensure the Party’s survival. They have been relentless and unapologetic about this—ignoring all ” peace proposals” with impunity— safe in the knowledge that their leadership can control the violence and its aftermath. The trend continues to this day.
The only difference is that, nowadays, the Marxists increasingly depend upon professional killers to carry out “operations”. The prospect of attracting jihadi votes in Kerala is another reason why the party continues to target the Sangh and its affiliates.
CPM ‘Kannur Model’ leadership
CPM leader Prakash Karat, on his visit of Kannur this year, had praised ‘Kannur Model” as something that should be replicated elsewhere. We do not know whether to call these tactics “Kannur Model” or “Bengal Model” since for the CPM, politics and murder seem to be uniformly intertwined.
In another era, it would have been logical to appeal to the CPM leadership for a peaceful resolution in Kannur. In fact, during the 1980’s Bharateeya Vichara Kendram Director, P Parameshwaranji, who is also the RSS State committee member had initiated a dialogue with CPM ideologue EMS Namboodiripad and spoke to him that the conflict should be at an ideological plane. Comrade EMS had agreed but was unable to do any thing because of criminals in his party. To expect something remotely humanistic from today”s CPM leadership in Kerala would be delusional.
Resolute action needed to dismantle this industry of terror
“Kerala Police was pandering to the vicious instincts of the influential politicians by shielding from punishment those who are really guilty and projecting either innocent person listed out from party offices…”
…the only solution to end the violence in Kannur district seemed to be a timely intervention by the Union government by deploying sufficient forces that “will not yield to the political or plutocratic clout by those in powers and out of power…”
— Justice V Ramkumar, Kerala High Court on March 11, 2008.
Amidst the ruins of Kannur, the role of the Kerala Police could have been described as comical but for its tragic consequence. For example, the gang leader who killed Manoj, one “Vikraman” was earlier identified as one of the killers of BJP leader Jayakrishnan Master. This information came out while police were interrogating the CPM murder squad which had killed dissident Marxist leader T P Chandrashekharan. Subsequently the police asked Vikraman to come in for an interrogation He refused to comply. So the Police closed that case.
Simply put, the Kerala Police is scared of the CPM. The Police machinery partially infiltrated by CPM cadres, does not relish the prospect of having to face a vengeful party which comes to power every five alternate years. Hence every murder investigation comes to a grinding halt at the doors of the CPM leadership. The tentacles of the party extend even into the prisons where CPM activists are given VIP treatment.
It is clear that the political murders in Kannur will not stop until the puppet masters who plan and orchestrate the dance of death in the God”s own country are brought to book. No State government agency can reach out and do this Job. Only a central Government agency, staffed by competent officers who are safely outside the reach of this deeply entrenched political establishment in Kerala can put an end to this nightmare.                                                              Girish P?

Emergency like-Custodial Torture ?

It will be a factual error if someone believes that Emergency days are things of the past. The inhuman police torture which Leeba, a poor housemaid, got in Kochi clearly shows that the days are not over. Leeba was working in a physician’s house on part time basis. One month back she was taken to custody from her work place by a policeman and policewoman and both were in casual dresses. Later, it was revealed that she was taken to the police station due to the complaint lodged by a doctor who had employed her. The allegation was stealing of some gold ornaments.
Once Leeba was taken to the Cheranellloor Police Station near Kochi, it is alleged that the police constables led by the station Sub-Inspector (SI) unleashed the ‘third rate’ torture and damaged her vertebra. After a month also, she is bed ridden and still suffers from acute pain. She is still in the general ward of Ernakulam District Hospital. Despite strong protests cutting across party lines, the only action government has taken was transferring the SI to Kochi town which is hardly a punishment, but a ‘hats off’.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), National Executive Member Advocate PS Sreedharan Pillai visited Leeba in the hospital. Afterwards he told the media that, it is a shocking incident. He called on the government to remove the accused constables from service and then go for an impartial enquiry. Her husband should be given a permanent government job. Thereafter, PM Velayudhan, BJP leader-in-charge of SC/ST Morchas of State party unit visited Leeba and demanded immediate action against the culprits. After Pillai’s visit, State Home Minister and Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala ordered to suspend the SI and the constables, of course including woman cops from the service.
Kudumbi Seva Sangham State president Bhaskaran told Organiser that their fight for justice for Leeba will continue. He expressed his community’s gratitude to BJP and RSS for the sincere support they get from them.
This reminds the old times of brutal torture the Congress-Communist Party of India (CPI) ruling alliance had launched against those who opposed (read Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Jan Sangh men) Emergency.                                         —T Satisan from Kochi?
