Curb conversion with iron hand in HP: VHP?
The two-day Central Managing Committee meeting of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad held at Jwalaji (Dharamshala), Himachal Pradesh from June 24 to 25, strongly demanded the Government of Himachal Pradesh to curb conversion activities in the State by effectively implementing the anti-conversion laws. In a resolution adopted at the meeting the VHP said that despite having an anti-conversion law, the conversion activities go unabated in the State and the situation in some districts like Shimla, Sirmour, Kullu, Lahol, Kinnor, Chamba and Kangra may go out of control if the effective steps are not taken immediately.
The resolution pointed out that even the training camps for conversion are being openly organised in some of the districts. The resolution also mentioned the growing menace of love jehad in the Himalayan State, as many innocent Hindu girls have been trapped by such jehadis. “The VHP feels that if the conversion and jehadi activities are not curbed immediately, the anger of the Hindu society may burst any time, which will not be easy to defuse,” the resolution said. It further pointed out that some temples have been taken over by the government and the money received from them is used in anti-Hindu activities.
In another resolution, the VHP also thanked the Hindu society for voting collectively during the recent Lok Sabha elections and hoped that the unity will continue for some other issues also in future. —Bureau Report?
VHP to go global during Golden Jubilee Year
During its Golden Jubilee Year, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has decided to go global by expanding its areas of operation from every corner of the country to most of the countries at global level. Addressing half yearly meet of VHP Delhi, VHP secretary general (organisation) Shri Dinesh Chandra said the programmes scheduled for the entire Golden Jubilee Year are aimed at expanding the areas of service to every Hindu wherever he/she lives on the globe.
State secretary general Shri Ram Krishan Srivastava said the national capital would soon witness the voice of Hindu Sammelans and religious processions in entire 155 blocks. About 400 office bearers from different corners of the State participated in the day long meeting. National vice president Shri Om Prakash Singhal and many other leaders were also present on the occasion.
Chennai swayamsevaks in building collapse rescue operation?
An under construction twin tower building ‘Trust Heights’ in Chennai’s Mugalivakkam area collapsed due to heavy rains on June 28 killing about two dozen people. The Sangh swayamsevaks reached the spot within an hour. Understanding seriousness of the situation, swayamsevaks from different areas were called for the rescue operation. Soon after, CMRL- L&T, AFCONS workers and engineers arrived at the spot with rescue equipments, the swayamsevaks started the rescue work at 8:00 pm. However, the NDRF reached the spot at 9:30 pm.
The workers, in various groups, were led by Zilla Sampark Pramukh Shri Sudharshan and Porur Nagar Karyavah Shri Vishnu Shankar. The first group cleared the path for rescue vehicles like crane, etc, the second group concentrated on immediate rescue of live victims who were trapped under the collapsed building. The third group provided hospitality for the rescuers and prevented public from the reaching the accident site. The fourth group coordinated the entire work and recorded the happenings of the rescue operation. A group of swayamsevaks from Kottivakkam supplied food and snacks to the rescuers. Women supplied water to them.
Rescuers, CMRL engineers, fire and rescue forces and the swayamsevaks worked together. About 50 swayamsevaks were involved in the rescue operations in which ten persons were rescued alive and 14 dead bodies were recovered immediately. Due to complications in reaching the shattered bodies, few dead bodies were not recovered immediately. Later, they were recovered using concrete drillers and cutters. Three victims were identified by the swayamsevaks by their vocal echoes. While rescuing them around 10 dead bodies were found at unreachable places. Three live victims were rescued with the help of CMRL engineers, fire and rescue officers.

Prashanth, son of a construction worker and Ragahavendra Valmiki, son of a daily wage earner always dreamed of studying in India’s premier technological institutions like the IIT but their financial background and conditions at home threatened to derail their dreams. But today Prashanth, having secured the 255th rank and Ragahavendra Valmiki getting the 1007th rank in IIT-JEE have ensured a promising future themselves. Thanks to ‘Tapas‘, a free residential programme initiated by Rashtrotthana Parishat.
As many as 34 students from very poor backgrounds have completed second Pre-University (PU) this year from ‘Tapas’. The students selected for the programme have fared well in CET, JEE Main and JEE Advanced too. This year, 30 out of 34 students qualified in JEE Main and were eligible to appear for JEE Advanced and 7 have qualified in the JEE-Advanced and have become eligible for entry into Indian Institute of Technology.
While Prashanth from Mysore secured a ranking of 255, Ragahavendra Valmiki from Koppal stood 1007, Devraj Shamraj Hoodal was at 3137, Ravikran from Yadgir is 4469, HS Prajwal from Bengaluru stood 5534, HS Ranganath was at 5701 and Mohan R Nayak from Shimoga secured 7896th rank. Another notable fact is that 10 students from ‘Tapas’ have stood within the first 1000 ranks in Common Entrance Test conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority and 20 students have secured ranks within the first 2000.
Kalyan Ashram Karyakari Mandal meeting?
Karyakari Mandal meeting of the Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram was held from June 25 to 26 at the ISCKON campus in Vishakhapatanam. The meeting was inaugurated by Kalyan Ashram president Shri Jagdeoram Oraon, vice presidents Shri Jaleshwar Brahma and Shri Kripa Prasad Singh. Organising secretary Shri Somaiyajulu and general secretary Shri Chandrakant Deo presented the financial report. Shri Atul Jog presented a brief report of programmes held within three months. It was decided to organise national conference of the workers in Hydrabad from September 17 to 22. A ‘Chintan Baithak’ will also be organised at Trambakeshwar in third week of November 2014. The closing functions of Balsaheb Janma Shati Abhiyan will be organised on December 26, 2014 at different places in Vanvasi areas. Health camps will be organised in all the remote blocks like the previous year.
Dhirji did a miracle in Myanmar: Dr Krishna Gopal
RSS Sahsarkar-yavah Dr Krishna Gopal, while paying tribute to Dhirji, a veteran Sangh Pracharak of Vishwa Vibhag, who passed away in Myanmar recently, said the way Dhirji strengthened unity among Hindus and Buddhists is nothing but a miracle. Dr Krishna Gopal was paying tribute to Dhirji at Keshav Kunj in New Delhi. He said Dhirji was a Sangh Pracharak from 1947 to 2014 and during the 66 years as Pracharak he held various responsibilities. He said Dhirji went to Myanmar as per the Sangh planning and he did wonderful work there. He said the biggest challenge before Dhirji was that the Buddhists there should consider themselves as part of the Hindu society, and he did it successfully. Shri Shyam Parande spoke about his activities in Myanmar and how he restored mutual trust among Hindus and Buddhists there. He said Dhirji had organised an exhibition on the life of Lord Buddha and the Government of Myanmar even funded that project. This exhibition became very popular there.
