Perhaps it was the first time after Independence that swearing-in of a new government is so widely celebrated outside India. Modi’s coronation was celebrated by the People of Indian Origin all over the world. There are reports of such celebration from over three dozen counties where Indians has sizeable population.
A distinguishing feature is the celebration by over 2.5 million Malaysian Indians after Modi and his team took over the reins.
Jalan Tun Sambanthan Road in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, which is popularly known as ‘Little India’ turned into a happy joint with big celebrations. By distributing sweets, taking out victory march, erecting huge banners in public places, exchanging complimentary messages on the social networking sites, Indian origin people in Malaysia literally carried away with a magic of Modi.
With a strong hope that India will emerge as a ‘developed’ nation under the leadership of Narendra Modi, lakhs of young people of Indian Origin working in Malaysia would like to return to their motherland. Owners of Hotels, Factories, trading houses and service Industries are concerned about rumors of their key people leaving them and planning to settle down in India.
Talking to Organiser, Thenish, Managing Director of ‘Divine Home’ which manufactures and exports Pooja Cabinets, Carved Wooden Doors, Manavarai and Wooden Gift items in Malaysia, confirmed this trend. “My ancestors, who are from India, started this business and now I am carrying out this in a big way by adding three more showrooms to the existing three showrooms across Malaysia. I am hearing that many young people of Indian origin working in Malaysia are seriously planning to return to India and start a new lease of life, after Modi becoming Prime Minister”, he said.
Expressing the same opinion, Vickey who runs a hotel ‘NJOY’ in Malaysia said Modi has created a name for himself for ‘development’. “I am so happy that for his swearing-in, Modi has invited heads of neighboring countries including Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It is a good sign towards improving bi-lateral issues. But at the same time I disapprove the protest by people of Tamil Nadu against Sri Lankan head who arrived on Modi’s invite”. He pointed out that millions of Indians are neglected by Malaysian Government and Indian origin people will be more happy to return to ‘corruption-free’ India where ‘development’ agenda of Narendra Modi is set to generate large scale employment.
