Sivaprasad, a Chennai IITian, led a team that won top national prizes in an exhibition of high tech gizmos recently. The principle involved in the invention by his team is that of ‘emergency lamp glowing once power supply is cut’. This principle, the team applied to domestic refrigerators in order to save food stored in fridges during power cuts. Curiously enough, a multi-national company has come out with identical apparatus to go along with its brand of fridges. Sivaprasad, it is to be noted, is a Sangh swayamsevak of Chennai.
