Leaders condemn growing attacks on Hindus
Ullal, a Muslim dense zone near Mangalore, was in the news as few miscreants attacked the local Hindu fishermen communities. Some leading saints and social leaders visited the village on February 13 and severely condemned the increasing attacks on Hindus in coastal Karnataka.

Swami Vishwesh Theertha of Pejawar Mutt, Shri Vidyapra-sanna Swamiji of Subramanya, Ramananda Swamiji of Kolya, Gurudevananda Swamiji of Odiyor, Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Uppugodu and several other prominent Swamiji’s, religious heads visited Ullal. RSS Kshetriya Sampark Pramukh Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, local leaders of the VHP, Bajarang Dal, Hindu Jagaran Vedike were also present on the occasion.

The residents of three houses in Ullal woke-up to find their houses damaged by miscreants. The houses belong to Variga, Dharmavati and Santhavati. The miscreants also damaged a car and a bike. The bike was taken to police station. Two boats, named Chamun-deshwari and another belonging to Kanthi Enterprises were also damaged at Kotepura, reported The Daijiworld.

Two culprits, who are said to have caused recent communal riots in Ullal, have been arrested in Mangalore by Ullal Police. The arrested rioters are Mohammed Kabeer alias Chabbi of Aksar Manzil in Kotepura, and Abdul Mannan alias Munaaf of Ayesha Manzil, near Baraka factory in Kotepura. Kabeer is a notorious person and has been accused in several cases in the past, including the murder of a security guard at a fish oil mill in Ullal. Munaaf too is an accused in some criminal cases. Both, along with some others had entered houses belonging to Mogaveera community, attacked people and damaged property, it is said and the incident had caused retaliation and resulted in full-scale riots. Both are said to have been involved in anti-social activities for long and creating constant trouble in the area. They are said to have troubled the people of their own community and gained wrath of all, the report said.

ABVP dharna at Jantar Mantar seeking security for N-E students

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi seeking security for north-eastern students. Addressing the students, ABVP national general secretary, Shreehari Borikar said it is painful that many Indians know nothing about North-Eastern part of the country. It is important that adequate knowledge is provided to all Indians about various parts of the country.

Convener of ABVP North-East Cell ‘Arunodaya’, Debarun Baruah said it is unfortunate that NCERT books have very little coverage of the rich cultural heritage and history of North-East India due to which many people have inadequate knowledge about this region. Therefore, adequate portions about North-East should be added to the NCERT syllabus at the earliest. ABVP has issued helpline numbers for North-East students where they can call for help in case of any problem in Delhi (9810900912, 9716199780, 8800813757). ABVP national secretary Rohit Chahal, Delhi secretary Saket Bahuguna, DUSU president Aman Awana and Joint-Secretary Raju Rawat also addressed the students.

Training camp for Gram Vikas workers in Surat

A two-day training camp for the workers of Gram Vikas was organised in Surat from February. About 300 workers from different states participated in the camp and shared their experience. RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi addressed the workers on second day of the camp. He said when we think of individual development we try to achieve the goal on our own strength, but when it comes to the development of our own villages we depend upon the Governments or other agencies. “If we have to raise the status of our society we must take steps ourselves. When we move a step, the rest of the people would follow us. The RSS wants that the villagers should develop their respective villages themselves and they should abandon the habit of always depending upon the Government,” he said.

College students camp in Rajgir

RSS Dakshin Bihar unit organised first college students’ camp in Rajgir from February 7 to 9. About 400 students attended the camp organised at Tapasvi Jagjivan Maharaj Saraswati Vidya Mandir. Inaugurating the camp Kshetra Pracharak Shri Swant Rajan said joining such camps develop team spirit. An exhibition was also organised at the camp highlighting prominently three segments—contribution of Bharat to the world, reach of Indian culture to world over and spread of Hindu youth in the world. The exhibition was inaugurated by Vibhag Sanghachalak Dr Ashok Kumar and noted historian M Rahman. Speaking at the concluding ceremony national convener of Swadeshi Jagran Manch Shri Arun Ojha called upon the youth to join the process of national reconstruction. He said the Hindu way of life has the capacity to nurture the entire world as it believes in a family.

Hindutva offers the solution to all problems: Champat Rai

VHP general secretary Shri Champat Rai said if the world trapped in different problems has to find a lasting solution it would have to adopt the Hindu life style, which wishes good for all. He was speaking at a Dharma Raksha Nidhi Arpan programme on February 17. He said just enacting a law or issuing political statements would not curb corruption or violence against women. It needs samskars and family values being imparted by the VHP. He appealed to the Hindus to follow their traditional values.

Sevika Samiti calls for a strong Centre

Rashtra Sevika Samiti called upon the Sevikas to beware of self-proclaimed ‘anarchists’ as well as naxalites.Both of them are wreckers of the system. “The Samiti feels that a strong Central authority should emerge in the country, said a resolution passed at the Samiti’s Akhil Bharatiya Karyakarini and Pratinidhi Sabha Mandal meeting held in Coimbatore from February 7 to February 9.The Samiti also took a dig at Government of India for opposing a Supreme Court order upholding Section 377 which declares that unnatural sexual relationships are an offence.The Coimbatore meet was attended by Pramukh Sanchalika Shantha Akka and Pramukh Karyavahika Seetha Akka. Pujya Swami Gnananda Swamiji from Arsha Vidya Gurukul, had inaugurated the meeting. A book, Garv ke Kshan and a calendar were also released by Swami Gnananda.

Defamation case against Home Minister Shinde

A defamation case has been lodged against Union Home MinisterSushilkumar Shindebya VHP activist in a localcourt in Mathura over his ‘Hindu terror’ remark. According to PTI, the case was filed over Shinde’s statement on January 20 last year inJaipursession of theAICCin which he had accused theBharatiya Janata Party(BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of conducting terror training camps and promoting ‘Hinduterrorism’.Accepting the petition filed by the VHP activist Vijai Bahadur Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Trapta Chaudhary fixed the next hearing for March 11.According to petitioner’s advocate Sahib Singh Deshavar, Shinde’s statement was prominently published in the next day newspapers, besides being broadcast by the TV channels.Some workers were offended after reading and hearing Shinde’s statement, Deshavar said.
