RSS does not impose itself on anybody, it only inculcates patriotism—Mohan Bhagwat

“THERE is a need to rekindle Hindutva thought process in the country. The RSS has been working for the welfare of the entire world. It does not terrorise anybody. It should not be clubbed with terrorism,” said RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat, while speaking at the concluding ceremony of Hindu Chaitanya Shiviram at Guntur on January 20. The three-day camp was inaugurated by RSS Sarkaryavah Shri Bhaiyaji Joshi on January 18. The camp was organised by RSS, Poorva Andhra Prant on Vijayawada-Guntur highway at Satavahana Nagar, close to toll gate near Kaza village. Swayamsevaks from 11 district participated in the camp.
Shri Bhagawat further said the way Pakistan is behaving with India for the last few days, it is not correct to call it an enemy country. “China is equally dangerous. Due to the weak borders drug trafficking, weapons and fake currency exchange go unchecked. The policies being adopted in the country are not helpful to the well-being of the nation. Price rise, foreign direct investments in retail sector, caste and regional differences are creating disappointment and despair among people,” he said.
He said the Sangh has taken up 130,000 service projects with love. It works for building up of an integrated Hindu society. “Former President Dr Abdul Kalam realised the need for building up of strength in the society. Strength does not mean acquisition of weapons. There should be welfare of the society, safety of the country and well-being of the world. Through awakened and vibrant society, qualitative richness should prevail,” he said.
Inaugurating the camp on January 18, Shri Bhayaji Joshi said the Sangh was founded in 1925 for the purpose of building healthy social living and universal welfare. “Today, border areas in Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gujarat and North Eastern regions have become hotbeds for destructive forces and naxalism and terrorism have emerged a big challenge to the nation. In the name of service, certain institutions are carrying out religious conversions. There is a need to thwart any such attempt,” he said.
Shri Bhaiayji cautioned if policies are framed towards gaining only material pleasures, it does not augur well for the economic system. He said there is no safety for women and we should not become mute witnesses about their plights. Women today are coming forward successfully in various sectors. He exhorted Hindu society to march ahead with renewed vigour. We should remove the defects that have crept into the Hindu society over a period of time, he urged.
Sahsarkaryavah Shri KC Kannan, senior Pracharak Shri Madhubai, Shri Bhagaiya, Shri Ram Madhav, Shri Ajit and Sri Jagdish Prasad also shared the dais. Among the prominent citizens who participated in the inaugural ceremony were Justice (retd) Shri Parvatarao of Adhivakta Parishad, Shri Somayajulu of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, Shri Raghavulu of VHP and Shri Mangesh. The camp began with a song on Hindu awakening. Prant Karyavah Sri N Ravi highlighted the fact that united strength of the swayamsevaks of four generations was visible in the camp.
Swami Paripoonananda, head of Sree Peetham, Kakinada, spoke about the greatness of Hinduism. He said dharma and nation should not be seen separately. Closely associated with dharma are cow, Ganga, Gita and guru and they should be protected by all. He said today temples are divided into various groups, which is not a healthy trend.
The second day of the camp began with hoisting of the saffron flag, prayer and yoga by the swayamsevaks. Later, Ekatmata Mantra. Addressing the swayamsevaks Shri Siddheswarananda Bharati Swamiji, head of Kurtalam Peeth said due to the meditation by Swami Vivekananda on the rock memorial of Kanyakumari that place became powerful centre. He reminded that due to strong determination and ardent efforts by Dr Hedgewar, the RSS was established. Gandhiji gained fulfilment due to chanting of Lord Ram’s name. Sri Guruji, with the blessings of Akhandananda of Rama Krishna Math, headed and guided the RSS for many years. When dharma was in danger, Rana Pratap, Shivaji, Doctorji and Guruji came for the protection. Reception committee president and Vishwa Hindu Parishad vice president Shri Gokaraju Gangaraju said that untouchability is a sin and religious conversions should be stopped.
Tridandi Srimannarayana Jiyar Swamiji said the swayamsevaks took forward a noble cause by combining strength and vibrancy. He said the Vedas, Itihas, Puranas and Shashtras reverberated with dharma exhortations and the swayamsevaks are trying to implement and live up to those. He stressed the need for creating model villages across the country. He hoped that the camp would be a starting point for heralding on the concept of model villages.
Former DGP of Andhra Pradesh Shri K Aravindrao said the only organisation possessing qualities of national integrity and devotion is RSS. Today, even culture has been globalised. Cultural attacks began with Britishers. Westerns are distorting our scriptural sayings. He quoted Telegraph newspaper of England wherein it is stated that to bring awakening amongst intellectuals, we get lot of material from the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. There is lot of positive strength in Bhagwat Gita and Upanishads and they are above religion. No Hindu can ever be a fundamentalist. Our nation never attacked another country. In Bangladesh, the population of Hindus has considerably reduced. Recently Union Minister AK Antony said minorities are safe in the country. He asked the swayamsevaks to attain soft power. South Central Kshetra Sanghachalak Sri TV Deshmuksh, Purva Andhra Sanghachalak Sri M Sundara Murty, RSS Sanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat were also present on the occasion.
