Fifth annual meeting of Hindu Dharma
Acharya Sabha in Ahmedabad

$img_titleVETERAN VHP leader Shri Ashok Singhal has said that the reign of Chief Minister Narendra Modi has not only provided remarkable development in Gujarat but the people of Gujarat have also been empowered. He was congratulating the people of Gujarat on the occasion of the 5 th annual meeting of Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha in Ahmedabad on November 9. Apart from over 100 distinguished saints from different parts of the country, RSS Sarsanghachalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat, noted yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi also attended the three-day meeting. The meeting was organised at Swaminarayan Gurukul Vishwavidya Pratishthanam.

In a resolution passed at the meeting, the Sabha demanded enactment and implementation of a Uniform Civil Code in the country. The Sabha has decided to take this matter to the people to bring about awareness. “Whereas various countries do not recognise religious minority, but India is the only country in the world which ahs religious minority recognition and many kinds of privileges are given by the government,” the resolution said demanding immediate removal of all the privileges granted on the basis of religious minority and abolition of the Minority Commissions for good.

Terming the government control over Hindu temples as interference in Hindus’ religious matters, the saints fully backed the case filed in Supreme Court by three saints (Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Swami Vishveshwarananda and Swami Paramatmananda) challenging the Hindu Temple Endowment Act. The saints also called for halting the construction of dams on the Ganga and the Yamuna rivers.

Shri Singhal said, “During the Congress rule in the State, attacks on Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra had become an annual ritual and the ‘secular’ government used clamping of ‘curfew’ as a ploy to put down the Hindu society by stopping Rath Yaatra or putting hurdles to neutralise the occasion. This ‘appeasement’ and ‘secular’ formula to do away with any occasion of Hindu celebration was replicated on the occasion of Janmashthami also. During Shri Modiji’s period in office for the last ten years, our celebrations and the Rath Yatras have been going on peacefully and the violence mongers no longer have any back-up now and there is the atmosphere of peace and development all around.”

“To Hindus mother cow is a point of faith and reverence. Due to the appeal by the Government of Gujarat a seven-judge bench of the Supreme Court did not accept cow slaughter by the butchers under the fundamental right to occupation and accepted the total ban on the slaughter of cow and her progeny as a right step. The Congress on the other hand encouraged cow slaughter designating the dastardly act as ‘pink revolution’ at par with ‘green revolution’ and made Bharat the biggest exporter of beef,” added Shri Singhal.

“I believe the people of Gujarat would continue to maintain this confidence. The global Hindu community is keenly watching the people of Gujarat. Gujarat will continue to maintain the air of confidence, development, and self-esteem that has come to prevail during the last ten years and I heartily congratulate the people of Gujarat for the same,” he said.

He said that the VHP is in full gear to see to it that the evil face of the pseudo-secular forces does not come again to the driving seat of Gujarat. “I believe that the workers/cadres of the VHP-Gujarat would continue to work with vigilance about the divisive forces that have the agenda to drive a wedge in Hindu society. Many powers from across the world are attracted and impressed by the people of Gujarat and the Government of Gujarat,” he added.
