Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram 30th anniversary celebrations
SPEAKING at the public meeting on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram, at University Senate Hall, Shri L.K. Advani said he was happy to be in Thiruvananthapuram to participate in the programme and be blessed by 86 year old Padmasri P. Parameswaran, as he had celebrated his 85th birthday, 3 days back.
“My association with Parameswaran started even before the Jan Sangh formation in 1951. We were in constant contact during our RSS Pracharak days. We were moulded by Independent India’s greatest martyrs Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. Parameswaran was the main organiser of the National Meet of Bharatiya Jan Sangh held in Kozhikode in 1967, in which myself and Pandit Deen Dayalji participated.”
Advaniji said while West is declining and East is rising, the future belongs to India and China. Drawback is that while China is not a democracy, in India, there is lack of commitment. The touchstone of politics should be good governance and clean politics. This should be adhered uncompromisingly and we have to live up, to people’s expectations. We have to pledge to make 21st Century India’s.
“After Partition in the wake of mass killings and unprecedented mass uprootings, the Jan Sangh was born. We tried our best to help the victims of Partition. I have been able to see all Indian Elections from 1952 to 2009 from close quarters. I don’t know whether next elections will be held in 2014 or before that. The West and the world were cynical whether India will survive as a nation post 1947 and post Nehru. But challenging the prophets of doom, with spectacular gains and minor setbacks, India is a thriving democracy. Democracy is imbibed in Bharatiya Sanskar. People in North want to visit Rameswaram before they die and similarly people in South wish to see Ganga and Himalayas. For thousands of years, we are a culturally united nation.”
“Right from the time of Pandit Deendayalji, the BJS has never followed the politics of untouchability. We formed governments with communists in 1967 and I attended EMS’s funeral, next day after becoming Home Minister in 1998. Just like untouchability, political untouchability is also criminal.

RSS founder Dr. Hedgewar fulfilled his dream by producing lakhs of men who were moulded on patriotism and discipline.”
The Bharatheeya Vichara Kendram was inaugurated on Vijaya Dasami day (Oct 22) 1982 at Thiruvananthapuram by Mananiya Dattopant Thengadi, with Padmasri P. Parameswaran as its founder-director. One of the senior-most RSS pracharaks and ideologue, he is also President of Vivekananda kendra, Kanyakumari. During its three decade existence, the BVK has ‘Intellectually Interfered’ on various issues affecting Kerala, Bharat and the World. Through thousands of meetings, seminars and symposiums it has presented, divergent points of opinions with regard to Common Civil Code, Kashmir Problem, Terrorism, Communism, Globalization, Environment, Religious conversions etc. It has documented more than 75 studies on development issues affecting Kerala.
During Gita year 5100, it organised more than 900 Gita seminars throughout Kerala and an international seminar on Bhagavad Gita, in which Dalai Lama participated. In 2003, it organised a National Seminar on ‘RESEARCH FOR RESURGENCE’ with the aim of bringing a Bharatiya touch to research. It has also been educating the people about distortions, in history and freedom struggle, perpetuated by Marxists, Islam and Christianity.
Inaugurating the 30th Anniversary fete at B.V.K. premises, ‘SAMSKRITI BHAVAN’ on 10th November, Prof. J.S. Rajput, former NCERT Director said, in Bharat, from times immemorial search and creation of knowledge was for mankind’s progress and welfare and not commercial. “In Bharat, Sanatana Dharma, Hindu Dharma, Manav Dharma and Rashtra Dharma are all same. A nation can progress only if education is based on its culture and traditions. In Bharat, as envisaged by renowned educationalist Dr. Kothari, the essence and objective of education has to change to make Indians stay back in India.”
Justice D. Sreedevi presided over the function. Renowned historian M.G.S. Narayanan and P.V. Arun who has got appointment in NASA were honoured by Advaniji. Two books on 30 years of BVK activity and Muziris – St. Thomas Conspiracy were released. Dr. N.K. Jayakumar, Vice-Chancellor of NUALS and BVK leaders Dr. Mohandas and Dr. Jayaprasad also spoke on the occasion.
