ARAKASH AYATRA (study tour) was organised for 14 young professionals by Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP) from August 22 to 24. It was a unique opportunity for these highly educated youngsters, which helped them to experience the pulse of growth and development in the state of Gujarat achieved by Chief Minister Narendra Modi during the last 15 years.
A large contingent of 275 professionals from various fields was there when the RMP announced through internet and facebook, the programme of Prakash Yatra to be held in Gujarat. The participants were asked to write their own concepts on governance and development.
Since the proposed tour was restricted to have only 14 representatives, the RMP had to screen them depending on their merits of education, state of origin, age-group, background and their concepts on growth and governance, etc. Finally, 14 including two ladies, were selected. They were highly qualified in various fields of medical, engineering, management, electronics, etc. and belonged to the states of Maharashtra, Delhi, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Kerala.
The RMP took them to Sardar Sarovar; Gift City; WASMO; Dholavira; Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar main cities with places at BRTS, Sabarmati River front, Kankaria lake; GSPC; Charanka village for Solar project; GMB port; PDPU; Mahatma Mandir and BISAG.
Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar cities were noticed to be well planned with tree planting, clean and wide roads with no potholes. They also watched activities at GMB ports (Gujarat Maritime Board), Dholavira SIR (special investment region) and GSPC (Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation).
The central Kankaria Lake is well decorated and kids’ city with mini-train becomes an attraction to anybody, as children learn city governance and security through mock operations of banking, police, courts, fire-fighting, NCC, planetarium, radio jockey, and newspaper stalls, etc. Sports, entertainment and ice-cream parlors are also arranged.
In these projects, applications of modern technologies were aptly used with great futuristic vision. To mention few of them, satellite technology was used to provide direct education to farthest remote villages of Gujarat.
It is worth mentioning that solar plant at Charanka village of Patan district is located just 30 km away from the Pakistan border. The visionary plant will be utilised for alternative resource of energy for not only entire Gujarat but also the country.
The state has at 24-hour electric supply facility and out of total need of 18000 megawatt, 610 megawatt is shared through solar project. The people will be stunned to notice that total present generation of solar electricity in the country is 900 megawatt.
Another scintillating observation was that Gujarat is going to build a GIFT city (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City). In terms of scale and sheer physical scope, GIFT is being designed to be at or above par with present globally benchmarked International Finance Centres (IFCS) like London’s Dockyard and Paris’s La defense area. This project is expected to generate nearly 3 million jobs for the urban population of Gujarat, which is increasing year-by-year.
With regard to WASMO (Water and Sanitation Management Organisation) community project, Sardar Sarovar project helped to get water supply to whole Gujarat; previously it had scarcity of water. Sabarmati River, which was previously running dry, has now perennial supply of water and broad width with decorated walkways besides. A waterway is also proposed in the near future. The government has now managed to provide water to 6513 villages of Gujarat.
PDPU (Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University), a large exhibition-hall as Mahatma Mandir and BISAG (Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics) for teachers training and mapping of all the villages were also found interesting.
BRTS (Bus Rapid Transport System) project is successfully run in Ahmedabad. It is well planned to get rid of traffic jams during peak hours.
Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini is spread across 15 acres in the scenic locality of Keshav Srushti at Uttan (Bhayandar West), an extended suburb of Mumbai. It is conveniently located just 12 km from Bhayandar railway station. The RMP was established in the year 1982 and today it has blossomed into a multi-dimensional institution.
RMP is nothing but the Knowledge Excellence Centre (KEC). Generally, the path to glory is paved with good intentions with the breeding of an excellent mind. RMP-KEC is equipped with the latest technological gadgets along with conventional training facilities and modern infrastructure.
Prakash Yatra, organised by the RMP, reveals that the Chief Minister Narendra Modi of the state and his government have covered practically all vital sectors of development like energy, water, transport, education, power, finance, etc. All the projects are being successfully implemented and maintained. Shri Modi did this despite natural calamities in the form of earthquake, drought and deluge, once in every 2 to 3 years.
All the 14 representatives were highly impressed after observing the developmental activities of Gujarat government and efficient governance. The programme was concluded after enthusiastic discussion with Chief Minister Narendra Modi on the last day.
Chief Minister during the discussion added that at this juncture Gujarat is settled and will see new heights in the coming days and years. He also intends to have metro rail project in the near future. He mentioned about the CM fellowship programme; under this, selected fellows will spend 11 months working with the government of Gujarat in a specific department or district.
The participants were happy to express that they never had such a marvelous event of enjoying and appreciating Gujarat development. They suggested other states should follow Gujarat pattern of development and then India will certainly prosper.
