Bangla Muslim infiltrators attack Bado villages, torch houses, hamlets (Organiser, 5.7.2012); Indian politicians and administrators would do well to remember philosopher George Santayana’s warning, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” If they had understood his words and remembered the warning of the British rulers of the dangers of the socio-political-economic impact of the influx of immigrants into Assam and taken concrete action, then we probably would not have seen repeat sectarian violence in the State, which shares a 262-kilometer border  with Bangladesh. The recent incident which broke out in Kokrajhar on July 20 and  then spread to three other districts, flared up because the UPA government did not read the early signals of violence but also failed to draw on experiences of similar violence in the State, the worst  being the Nellie massacre of 1983 that left 3,000 people dead. It also  shows a lack of coordination in security related matters between the State and the Centre, even though both are ruled by the Congress. Congress regime in Assam has proved ineffective. It is unfortunate that the authorities in the State and Centre could not nip in the bud simmering  tensions  between Bodos and Muslims over control of land and settlements. This is not the first time the members of the two communities have clashed. The Centre and the State government of various states must make a comprehensive plan to create awareness among different communities and to check incidents that lead to violence of such magnitude.

Swamy Exposes Chidambaram Scam. What is Aircel-Maxis Scam? (Organiser, 20.5.2012);This is with reference to the front page article ‘Swamy Exposes Chidambaram Scam’. What is Aircel-Maxis Scam?’  in Organiser by Dr Subramanian Swamy.  At the outset I congratulate Dr Subramanian Swamy for his boldness in exposing a well known scoundrel whom, others hesitate to expose, our present Home Minister and the then Finance Minister P Chidambaram, virtually ex-officio Chairman of Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIBP). Your column ‘Expose’ has clearly exposed treason of UPA II being committed by their agent P Chidambaram. T Anantha Krishnan owner of Maxis, resident of Malaysia has under FDI purchased 99.3 per cent of shares in Aircel, being owned by one Indian by name Sivasankaran. In this scam Karti S/o Chidambaram is directly involved. The son pressurised the father to allow Maxis to overtake Aircel deliberately, fraudulently violating FIBP. Dr Subramanian Swamy has filed a criminal case in this connection against Chidambaram in  the Supreme Court. Government controlled electronic and print media has tried  its best to hush up this scam but much before the verdict from Supreme Court. I am happy that Organiser has exposed this  scam of UPA II to the light and in notice of the electorate.  As per the laid down norms of the Supreme Court for the crime of issuing bogus FIBP clearance, P Chidambaram, Maran, Karti and NRI-Sivasankaran can be  sentenced to seven years jail term. I pray Supreme Court to punish  these criminals of FIBP in such a severe way that other’s don’t dare to commit such crime in the future. I also request CBI or the Supreme Court to confiscate all the assets as  being shown in the article in a box titled ‘Different business  interests of Karti Chidambaram’.Further detailed Supreme Court enquiry should be conducted on Dr Swamy’s  allegation and if found true, Karti should be severely  punished  and his  assets should be confiscated.

Christian clergy in saffron robes (Organiser, 15.7.2012); Dr Gautam Sen’s article, ‘Christian clergy in saffron robes’in Organiser is thought provoking. The clergy employed every available strategy to convert the innocent. Conversion through ‘Inculturation’ is a deceptive strategy employed by the evangelist. The bigger challenge to Hinduism from Christianity is that they are frequently using our mantra’s to propagate their religion. They call Bible ‘Bible Veda’and they quote in their lectuers, prayers from the Sanskrit mantra’s like ‘Lead me from  darkness to light’; from falsehood to truth; and from death to immortality’. Another hoax is interfaith dialogue. It  is called by the missionaries with the stated objective of understanding each other scriptures since we are  living in a pluralistic society with pluralistic religions. The aim is only to establish arrogantly their superiority over other religions and displacement of other religions. The interfaith dialogue is a futile exercise so long as the missionaries believe in the superiority of their religion. They hold that, the truth of Hindu philosopher must be baptised and used as stepping stones to the Catholic faith. They hold that even though Hinduism and Buddhism have reached the highest form of spiritual ideas, they are not equal to Christianity. The Bhakti in Hindu scriptures and Karuna (compassion) in Buddhism, they arrogantly say, is borrowed from Christianity. A sheer arrogance! The Hindus should be guarded against the “en-culturation—a “cultivation” and also the hoax of interfaith dialogue.

Minorities under threat in Pakistan (Organiser, 8.7.2012);  This refers to minorities under threat in Pakistan’ by Rajeev Sharma in Organiser.  He has given some description of what is happening to the Hindus in Pakistan, who have been reduced from 25 per cent (not just 15 per cent as stated by him) to about 2 per cent now. He has correctly said, that there are about 1.7 million Hindu bonded labourers living like slaves, in Sind province of Pakistan. They are mostly Scheduled Castes, who were not allowed to leave Pakistan, as they were doing petty jobs of cleaning latrines and streets for the Muslims there and their departure would have created problems for Muslims. They are mostly Scheduled Castes from UP as mentioned by Shri Sri Prakasa in his book Pakistan: Birth and early days on pages 75-76. Shri Sri Prakasa was the first India’s High Commissioner in Pakistan. Government of India/Nehru’s Congress government miserably failed in its duty to help them to come back to India, their original home. There is nothing new, in what is happening to the Hindus in Pakistan. Dr BR Ambedkar has very aptly mentioned in his book Pakistan or the Partition of India on page 325, that “Islam can never allow a true Muslim to adopt India as his  motherland and regard a Hindu as his kith and kin”. In this connection, it would not be out of the way to mention one of my own experiences. It was a day or two after June 3, 1947, when I was at Sialkot (now in Pakistan), the day on which Pakistan scheme was publically announced on Radio, first by Lord Mountbatten followed by Nehru as representative of the Hindus, then by Jinnah as representative of the Muslims, and finally by Baldev Singh as representative of the Sikhs. I happened to go to a nearby dispensary in which the doctor was a Hindu and compounder a Muslim wearing Turki cap. That compounder was telling another Muslim,  that now Pakistan is going to be created and  the Hindu doctor would become compounder, and  he would become doctor. This he said in front of the Hindu doctor standing there. On returning home, I told this happening to my parents. This showed the mind set of the entire Muslim community. What happened in August 1947 in Pakistan is a horrible history, that we all know.

VHP welcomes SC order on Amarnath Yatra (Organiser, 29.7.2012); It is good that the Supreme Court has constituted a panel to find ways to contain the death of so many pilgrims who undertake the annual Amarnath Yatra. According to official estimates, 88 devotees have already lost their lives in the  course of the gruelling pilgrimage, largely due to inadequate medical attention and also the fact many  of them were not fully fit to undertake the pilgrimage in the first place. The apex court’s initiative is welcome for  two reasons: First, it shows the sensitivity of the judiciary towards the plight of ordinary folk and  second, the recommendations which the panel will make and submit to the court will serve as a guideline for the government to implement corrective measures in the  coming years as well. Of course it is the Centre in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir government which should have taken the initiative to work out  remedial steps. But then—like in so many other cases—the UPA regime has been lackadaisical in its response to this crisis  that has been consuming human lives. In  all of this, the role of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board too should be carefully monitored. The medical certificates  are supposed to be checked by the board, but clearly the board has not performed its duty in an exemplary fashion.  In fact, the Supreme Court made a pithy but scathing  comment when it remarked that “the less said about the board  the better it is”.

Hind, Hindi , Hindu and Hindutva  I was stunned to read  the article “Hind, Hindi, Hindu, Hindutva’ by Lord Meghnad Desai in Sunday Express  dated:1.7.12. He writes that words  Hindu, Hindi, Hind were commonly used before Independence. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose accepted the slogan Jai Hind. The same was also accepted by other prime ministers. Then he writes that the word Bharatvarsha is another entity altogether in the Constitution after Partition to assuage some feelings of Indo-Aryans in people. Here the fact is that word Bharatvarsha, the name of the country was also commonly spoken in North India, including Bengal, Maharashtra and Gujarat. The speeches of many leaders before Partition can be referred. Lord Desai further writes that Bharatvarsha only included Punjab, Haryana Delhi and may be stretched to UP and Bihar. I hope he must be knowing Sanskrit shloka which contains Jambu Dweepe, Bharat Khande, Aryavarte.  Moreover he would remember that Ratnakar Bharti a well known commentator in Hindi on BBC London  in 1960’s and 70’s  and his collegues always refered about South Asia as “Bharatiya-up-Mahadweep”,  meaning  India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan. The countries which have common identity and culture. Lord Desai has tried to separate North and South India on cultural grounds. He must realise that our revered saints who preached Vedas  and Vedantas were (1)Adi-Shankaracharya from  Kerala(South); Swami Virjananda Saraswati  from Haridwar (North); Swami Dayananda Saraswati from Gujarat (West) and Swami Vivekananda from Bengal (East). All these have worked in the length and breadth of the country with same  mission and never considered North and South different. Again he  writes that Hindutva was labelled with the religion of majority. Veer Savarkar had muddled the whole water so it became provocative. It is really amazing. The fact is Hindutva preaches  Manav Dharma.  What Veer Savarkar had said it was against the provocation of Muslim fundamentalists. Lord Desai might remember the Direct Action of the Muslim League in August 1946, killing thousands of Hindus at Calcutta and genocide of Hindus at Pakistan after Partition. Still  Lord Desai crossed all limits, when he writes that Hindutva was provocative  before 1947 and became murderous after 1947. This is highly provocative and  condemnable statement. This is to remind him that after Partition Hindus have been driven away from Kashmir by separatists. Imam Bukhari, on whom there are number of court cases with non-bailable warrants, does not respond to courts. Even Home Ministry, Delhi Administration, Delhi police are jittery to order his arrest. What was the provocation for 26/11 Godhra carnage, attack on Indian Parliament, Akshardham and Raghunath mandir. Alarmed UK has now banned Indian Mujahedin. As such the whole world is scared of Islamic terror. Then why to blame Hindutva. Veer Savarkar died about sixty years back. Where is the provocation to day? Who is murderous?

Why defy Mahajan Commission In the recent past Maharastra has demanded Central Government to declare Belgaum city and its sorroundings as Union Territory, since considerable Marathi population exits and hence it is a disputed area. We wish that half a dozen union territories be formed in Maharastra.Their own State capital Mumbai, second capital Nagpur, and other district places like Sholapur, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Bandara, Gondia, Dhule/Nandurbar, where the Marathi population is bleak and also disputed. Mahajan Commission’s report  should be considered as  full and final, which was settled by the stalwarts of both the states.The Commission’s report and judgement was not based on the ‘Village-Unit’ but adopted district as a whole.There is enough of logic and sense in the criteria adopted in Mahajan Commission and is purely based on realistic facts and figures  since the population at the borders of any state/province or any country as what our history has told us has deflated and inflated from time to time and place to place as per the historical situations and conditions prevailing. Therefore, Marathis defying 'Mahajan Commission'  are not only insulting their own leaders who had settled the issue amicably, but are also against the solidarity of our country. If one goes in search of such Belgaums in rest of our country,one may find hundred. Does one expect to open the pandora box at this juncture when India is afflicted and endangered by the terrorists group from all sides making our country insecure.But one thing is sure that the principles and criteria adpoted in India in 'States Reorganisation' has prevailed one and the same everywhere in the country and Belgaum is no special case.

Mr Pawar: No time to salvage pride At a time when the PMO has announced that this year rainfall will be below normal and farmers in six states are in distress it is appalling that the GoM on drought was not convened as the NCP and Congress are engaged in political tug-of-war. To top it all, agriculture minister and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar is reportedly not even attending his office. He must realise that this is not the time to salvage his pride. Rather he must rise above petty poltics and take steps to mitigate the  effects of the delayed monsoon.
