Symposium by DRI on significance of mass movements
Deendayal Research Institute (DRI) organised a symposium on ‘significance of mass movements’ in New Delhi on June 25. The symposium was organised to remember the Emergency imposed by Congress government in 1975.
Speaking on the occasion, senior journalist Shri Rambahadur Rai, who played a key role during the JP movement, described movement as the means of developing leadership. He said whenever there is any conflict in the society and the rulers get autocratic, a movement is generated. But today some people are confused and think that a movement is the destination. Whereas, the fact is that movement is just a step. He said the definition of nationalism devised by great leaders like Lal, Bal, Pal, Gokhale and Gandhiji through their agitations has today changed and national interest appears to be no more important for the leaders. He termed the declining value of rupee and unprecedented hike in dollar as a conspiracy which needs to be exposed, as some internal elements are behind this game.
Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Modi recalled the role played by RSS activists during the underground agitation against Emergency. In the beginning, Shri Rajkumar Bhatia, former national president of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, introduced the topic of discussion.
