Yashoda was churning butter from milk in a pot when suddenly she remembered she had some work to attend in the kitchen. She picked up the pot of butter and placed it in the kitchen and as she was about to leave, her eyes fell on baby Krishna who was stealthily making his way into the kitchen. Before he could lay his hands on the vessel containing the butter, Yashoda caught him and went to find a rope to tie him to a tree.
But Krishna was very nimble footed and so he ran here and there with Yashoda following behind. At long last, when she became too tired of running, Krishna gave himself up to her.
Yashoda found the rope and quietly tied him to a mortar.
Suddenly here was a loud thud sound and the people rushed out of their dwellings to find out what could have happened. They saw that the mortar had collapsed on the ground and child Krishna, having been stuck between two trees, had pulled himself with such force to extricate himself that the two trees had fallen down with a loud noise and great force.
These two trees were sons of Kuber, God of Wealth. They had been cursed to become trees, but when they crashed to the ground, they retuned to their original forms as young princes. In this way Sri Krishna freed them from their curse.
