The Book on What Ever You’re Into, Kevin Abdulrahman, Jaico, Pp 230 (PB), Rs 250?
In our times of fierce competition, learning to be a winner has become a universal obsession. Because of this, there has been a steady growth of inspirational/ motivational speakers and writers in all parts of the world. Kevin Abdulrahman is a known speaker, who has also come up with a book that is meant to make people succeed in a big way. He has presented the success formula in the form of short sutras, which he calls winning truths. He presents fifty-two of them, each explained in a page or two, which are meant to be read, remembered, practiced, and made a part of ourselves.
Most of the truths are known and familiar but form a part of a large mosaic. We all should have goals, which should be backed by our firm commitment. To move to the top, we need to put an extra bit, every time, and try to tease out complications. We have to be clear in our head that we have to find solutions to all our problems: for this, we need confidence and self belief. Whatever comments we get from others should not dampen us; they should be used as fuel for the fire of success. Even with whatever we know, we have to learn to make the right choices, by putting our knowledge into action (KIA), and make proper use of the time available to us. To be successful doers, and not mere talkers, we need to acquire a clear focus and mental toughness, learn to handle challenges, be passionate about our work, trust our intuitive powers, and not be unduly perturbed by uncertainties.
If required, we should learn to work with a team, be clear about the picture we have in our mind, take failures in our stride, and understand that luck means Labouring Under Correct Knowledge. To move steadily towards our goal, we must maintain a positive frame of mind, work within our cherished values, take no notice of what others say, adopt LTMA (Less Talk More Action), avoid comparisons, develop a winning habit, be courageous, and think big.
The Book is a reader friendly book and truly inspiring.
