Is secularism resting on skull cap?

I really appreciate the views of Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendra Modi when during his speech he said that he is neither working for the minorities, nor for the majority, but for the whole of Gujarat. This is so because he said that when Gujarat will prosper, the members of both the communities will get the benefit. I fail to understand why  his refusal to wear the skull cap during his Sadbhavana Mission has received much  unwanted attention. His actions are being interpreted as his anti-Muslim streak.  However I fail to understand why Muslims are so eager to put their religious cap on others. Further when the Indian Constitution gives equal rights to every Indian inspective of caste, creed and religion, why must we then be classified as members of either majority or minority communities?

—TK Raghavan, 8/7 Hutchins Road, Bengaluru

Tit for tat Shri Narendra Modi has done a mistake by refusing to wear a skull cap offered by Imam Saiyed Mehndi Husain. He should have applied sindoor to the forehead of  the Imam and tied kalava(saffron sacred thread) on the wrist of Imam and then accepted the cap. This should become a norm for the  Hindus when offered a skull cap. In fact the skull cap was borrowed by the Muslims from the Jews. So it is a Jews cap more accurately rather than a Middle East cap.

Elitist UPA and the wretched of the earth (Organiser, 2.10.11); Kudos to your editorial titled, ‘Elitist UPA and the wretched of the earth’. Very sarcastically you have attacked not only  the Planning Commission, UPA government but on the whole the Parliament and legislators too. Prices of all the commodities are rocketing high with every passing day and  the Planning Commission’s deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia says that Rs 32 are sufficient for a day for a family of four. What a joke of India’s poverty? No country in the world makes such a nonsense statements against their people as our stupid bureaucrats as well as politicians are making. Don’t you think that such statements are pushing the country towards a civil war?
—Rahul Mathur,   email: [email protected]

Can Montek Singh Ahluwalia live on Rs 32 a day? I was very happy to learn that the BJP’s Madhya Pradesh unit has sent demand drafts of Rs 32  each to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, asking them to show how to live a day on the sum. Even the ‘The Right to Food Campaign’ activists have also challenged the deputy  chairman of the Planning  Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia  through an open letter penned by the activists. The letter reads, “The Right to Food Campaign  challenges you and all the members of the Planning Commission  to live on Rs 26/Rs 32 a day till such time  that you are able to explain to the public in simple words the basis of the statement that this amount is not  adequate.”
—MAHESH Chandra Sharma, E-198, Panki, Kanpur

Is ‘Mera Bharat Mahan’, really mahan under UPA? In its enthusiasm to  project itself  as a big power with high rate of economic  growth, the Union government has come up with a numerical gimmick. The Planning Commission has said that people spending more than Rs 32 a day in urban areas and Rs 26 a day in rural areas won’t  be put below the poverty line. I feel it  is highly embarrassing to see that when a tiny country like Bhutan is pursuing the unique philosophy of ‘Gross National  Happiness’ whereby the entire focus has been to ensure health and education for all, the progressive India is devising  policies to deprive the poor  of their  right to food. The government must bear in mind that euphoria decisions and figures will not change the ground realities.

—RITHA SAGAR, Chennai

India’s eight per cent growth rate has no relevance for aam aadmi  While addressing the United Nations General Assembly, PM said that a fast-growing Indian economy can help expand the boundaries of the global economy, especially since India registered a growth rate of about eight per cent even while the global economy was in recession. However I fail to  correlate envious India’s growth statistics with the plight of aam aadmi  who is reeling under the effects of inflation, price rise and corruption. The menace of corruption at high places has weakened India’s socio-political and economic fabric. Consequently few in the country care about the GDP or its economic  growth rate. Having seeing  the pathetic sight of the people, the country’s  eight per cent growth rate holds little  value for me.

Mamata in a minority trap (Organiser, 11.9.11); This is with reference to front page article in Organiser  “Mamata in a minority trap” by Asim Kumar Mitra. There is nothing  new in what Mamata Banerjee, a pet of Congress-I is doing. Mamata Banerjee is following the same anti-Hindu and Muslim appeasement policy which is being  followed by her mentor. Hindus who voted Mamata should rise and check her love for Islam else there will be “Islamic rule with the help of Hindu votes” as it has been happening in India since Independence  under the Congress regime. The article is educative and highly informative and is alerting Hindus in West Bengal before it is too late  for them. Shame to Mamata for disowning Hindu voters and surrendering to pan Islamic forces who are hell bent on second Partition of India. National  media  is also  placing in the hands of Islamic forces for money.  Hope  Hindus not just in West Bengal but all over India understand the real  (anti-Hindu)character of  the Congress and all its allies.

India unsafe under Manmohan (Organiser, 18.9.11); Faith cannot be kept safe with an impotent, incompetent, inefficient Congress led UPA government. We should not expect that Congress will protect the lives and properties of the people by preventing frequent bomb blasts and crushing terrorism, proxy wars waged on our country by its intimate friend Pakistan. Innocent people are being killed in bomb blasts but coward Congress government can’t  do anything to prevent them. Despite death sentence was awarded to mastermind in bomb blast and attack on the  Parliament House, it has  not yet been executed. As usual the same recorded routine fixed words such as condemnation, condolence, console and compensation which  have been cultured by our rulers are replayed soon after every blast.  Besides hollow warning  is  given to  the culprits. People want to know for how long such recorded statements would be played? When will it come to an end? Congress men are of the opinion that such  trivial incidents of  bomb blasts occur in big cities. See their psychology. Such shameful statements deserves to  be condemned. Chidambaram   has expressed his inability to prevent bomb blast.  I request honourable Prime Minister to create four new ministries at once viz (i) Ministry of condemnation (2) Ministry of condolence (3) Ministry of console (4)Ministry of compensation so that tremendous work load and tension on Shri Chidambaram would be reduced to a great extent. If possible create one more ministry i.e. Ministry of hollow warning. Congress should need not bother about killing of common man.

Muslims are themselves responsible Whereas all the Islamic countries of the world are in termoil because of their own makings and are ruthlessly engaged in ‘Muslims kill Muslims’ syndrome causing lot of suffering to their own fellow Muslims , Hindu India is moving ahead and progressing  in all fields, benefitting all Indians and trying hard to achieve better economic conditions and independence for her people. Highly civilised country of its time, Hindu India was invaded, enslaved and ruled again and again for about a millennium by all kinds of uncivilised and barbarian invaders, who came from the land of nothing to the land of plenty and looted everything. They were worse than invaders. They were thieves. They never knew and appreciated anything beautiful in life. Their aim was, if we are ugly, let us destroy everything and make them ugly too. Hindu India was subjugated, debased and exploited. Even after all that lost time, India has achieved more than any other country in the world and stayed fully democratic besides her growing population of 1.2 billion. India has achieved success in all fields of agriculture, technology , science, education, information and computers, military and much more. I imagine, if all those hordes of invaders and looters had not come to India, I can assure you for sure, Hindu India would have become super power of the world centuries ago, when other religions were still living in the caves and were eating raw animal flesh.

Watch out UPA I felt very happy to learn that the veteran Gandhian activist has taken to New Age tools with great relish. There were of course, those YouTube feeds live form the Tihar Jail. And now Anna Hazare is expressing his views through multilingual blogs and tweets. Surrounded as he is by tech-savvy associates, the UPA should better watch out. A cyber-friendly Anna could be of more trouble than a periodically fasting Gandhian.

A wise step As per a report appearing in the local print media, one of the southern states is going to introduce a unique type of Bill. It intends to fine the father of two children to the tune of Rs.10,000/- along with a jail term of three months, if his wife gets pregnant for the third time. A well thought out step indeed; but will the proposed enactment be made applicable to all types of population in the State, irrespective of the religion practiced by them?

—Vineet Phadtare, [email protected]

Classic example of oxymoron  It is a classic case that Amar Singh who has been, jailed for alleged corruption, is retained as Member of  the Standing Committee on Lokpal Bill by Hon. Speaker of  the Lok Sabha.

—A K R Hemmady, email: [email protected]

Everyone will be affected except UPA Almost two months after the triple blasts in Mumbai comes the news about the bomb explosions in the premises of the Delhi High Court. Whereas the investigating agencies  were still groping in the dark about the brains behind the first one, another suspected terror strike within a span of 54 days must have come as bolt from the blue for the overburdened sleuths. But this will have no effect on the UPA government, since they have taken an oath to ruin this country.

Onam: A festival of equality (Organiser, 18.9.2011); I would  like to congratulate Organiser and especially the writer Shri KK Shanmukhan for providing a lovely story on Onam, titled, ‘Onam: A festival of equality’,  to the readers. He has rightly written that, “Onam is the only festival celebrated without the slightest parochial consideration  of religion, caste or creed. Onam reminisces of a golden and glorious era of yore.” Hitherto it was unknown to me  that Onam is the cultural history of King Mahabali. The story  which is written in a very simple and crisp language is very informative too.  In the previous issue of Organiser dated 4.9.2011, Smt Manju Gupta’s  story, ‘Jayadhrata’s five tufts of hair,’ was  equally interesting. Providing such type of stories in the ‘Kid’s Org’ page of Organiser is a positive step towards making our children educated and aware of  our cultural history, since there are many epic stories which are not part of modern education. Hence with such stories the mind of readers like  me and many more get enriched.
