Message from Parliament House by Justice (Retd) Dr M Rama Jois released

Day is not far when CBI may be told to investigate whether Rama was incarnated or not— Justice (Retd) RC Lahoti

By Pramod Kumar

“It is has become an offence to talk about dharma today. We are the descendents of Sri Ram and Sri Krishna, but even their existence is being questioned. I am waiting for the day when our Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will be told to investigate whether Sri Rama was ever incarnated or not,” said former Chief Justice of Supreme Court Shri RC Lahoti. He was releasing a book, Message from Parliament House, written by former Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court and former Governor Dr M Rama Jois in New Delhi on September 24.

The book is based on the valuable Sanskrit verses inscribed at various places in Parliament House. The verses were inscribed there to remind the People’s representatives their duty towards the people, the society and the nation. These verses incorporate the essence of the basic philosophy evolved in our country since times immemorial.

Describing Justice Dr Jois ‘a scholar par excellence’, Shri Lahoti stressed that all the past, present and future MPs, MLAs, bureaucrats and policymakers must read this book and imbibe the essence of the verses in their thinking and action. “The objective behind inscribing all these valuable verses in the Parliament Houses was that People’s representatives should emulate them in their practical deeds. If they had followed even an iota of these verses in their life, the picture of the Parliament would not have been as it is today,” Justice Lahoti commented adding that Dr Rama Jois must be praised for this outstanding work.

Referring to an article published in a leading English daily from New Delhi regarding illegal wealth amassed by some MPs, Shri Lahoti said the property of an MP increased Rs five lakh per day while the property of another MP increased Rs fifty lakh per day. “The government is aware of it, but nobody has the courage to question the source of skyrocketing wealth of such people. But such people should not forget that when the God punishes, nobody will come to save them,” he said.

Delivering Lala Diwan Chand Memorial lecture Dr Rama Jois said the objective of zero corruption would not be achieved through a Lokpal or Janlokpal but we require a dharmapal for it. Dhrama (duty) is supreme because it kills ill thoughts. If we must impart this education right from the beginning, only then we can expect a positive change. He said the copies of the book have been given to all MPs. “Ours is duty-based society while the others are right-based. Therefore, we must live accordingly,” he said.

Talking about the great personality of Lala Diwan Chand he said philosophy of giving is an important part of our culture and Lala Diwan Chand followed it throughout his life. He never expected anything in exchange of the service.

Earlier, Shri Vishwanath, chairman of the Trust, spoke about the personality of Lala Diwan Chand and also about the service activities being carried out through the Trust. Former minister in Government of Delhi Shri Rajendra Gupta, who is also one of the Trustees, introduced the guests. Justice (retd) Shri RN Mittal, proposed a vote of thanks.
