If your favourite sport is cricket and you are a fan of IPL, then The Gamechangers is your kind of book. Authored by a mysterious ‘person’ called The Fake IBL Player, the book takes the reader for a virtual walk through the muddy side of cricket. The manipulated IP(B)L auctions, the avarice of the corporate owners of the teams, for whom money is more important than the game, the players themselves, being used and tossed around like pawns and the part-time politicians who travel simultaneously in several boats, in different costumes. The viewer normally gets to see only the glamour side of IPL with the Bollywood actors swishing around in the latest designer dresses, the high and mighty of the country rubbing shoulders with them and the cheerleaders who dance to raunchy tunes. This book takes off the beautiful mask of the game to expose its ugly underbelly. Obviously the incidents and conversations have a lot of reality in them. The author is the blogger who keeps the public ‘informed’ with the offended parties infuriated with the blogs. The book definitely makes an instant connect, especially because of the all the IPL scams still fresh in memory.
