“TRUTH from the horses mouth’, is sweet and pure. Although, not a professional liar, the hallmark of a communist, Chief Minister VS Atchudanandan is speaking more truths these days. Close on the heels of his disclosing the jehadi NDF/PFI move to Islamise Kerala in twenty years, he declared liquor and lottery mafia as the biggest threat to Kerala society, in his Independence day speech. His relentless battle against sex, land, sand, sandal mafias could not be brought to its conclusion due to strong and stiff resistance from the CPM, itself. No surprise, since they are the kingpins of these operations.

People of Kerala feel left out of the development bus when they see the rapid developments taking place in the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Added to that is the CPM misrule and malgoverance which has taken the State backward by twenty years.

Collapse of agriculture
The agriculture sector in the State too totally collapsed with the State producing only cash crops like rubber, pepper, etc. Now with reduction of import duty on natural rubber the price has come down. All the edible agricultural items like rice, wheat, pulses, oil, vegetables, milk, egg and meat, etc. come from neighbouring Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Even flowers come from Tamil Nadu. They irony is, Kerala cannot celebrate Onam without imports from neighbouring states. The flowers for Athapoo (flowers arrangement on the front side of house) and plantain leaf for eating, Onasadya comes from Tamil Nadu. Kerala, known as ‘land of coconuts’, is importing coconuts from Tamil Nadu, which is cheaper. Kerala’s banana fruits are now coming from Tamil Nadu.

The unnecessary labour problem created by the CPM, has, led to the collapse of rice cultivation. CPM insistence on non-usage of harvesting machines has led to rotting of thousands of tons of foodgrain in the fields itself. When people resorted to other cultivation, like coconut etc, CPM destroyed the planted saplings.

Now uncultivated paddy lands in Kerala are being taken over by land Mafia for building of flats and villas. The CPM has a major stake in the ‘Land Mafia’. Most of its top leadership have links with several multi-crore flat projects and CPM is providing goonda-power to evict landowners from their lands.

Lost employment opportunities
For long, no manufacturing, or process industry has set its establishments in Kerala due to the communist labour problem. Kerala could have joined the development road through the IT sector. But CPM diffidence and hard-headedness had led to the collapse of the ‘SMART-CITY’ IT project in Kochi, which would have provided jobs to 20,000 youths and ancillary employment avenues. While neighbouring Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have made rapid strides in the IT sector, Kerala despite having a high literacy and computer background is lagging behind. A Keralite has to go outside the State for employment opportunities.

Education sector
The CPM and SFI’s earlier opposition to self-financing colleges in the professional sector led to children of Kerala going outside the State to pursue, engineering, medical and nursing courses. Now, even though these institutions have come up, they are still uneasy. Frequent SFI agitations in these institutions make the cream of students, go outside the State, to pursue unhindered education. Over- politicisation of campuses by CPM/SFI have made them unfriendly for overall-development of the students. Also SFI’s insistence on not allowing ABVP, NSU (1), etc. to function in campuses have led to friction and clashes.

Collapsed law and order
Kerala is among the bottom- most in national law and order chart thanks to politicisation of the police force by the CPM. There is a vertical split in the police between pro and anti-CPM wings. The pro-CPM policemen target anti-CPM forces especially BJP, RSS and ABVP. Even recently, an anti NDF, ABVP protesters were bashed up in front of the State secretariat by women constables and Home Guards, etc. Prior to 2009 Lok Sabha polls, pro-CPM policemen were mobilised in all the 20 constituencies to manipulate the poll process. Kerala is topping the list of lock-up torture and murders, rapes, atrocities on women and children, suicides, group suicides of families, divorces, etc. Even the murder of Paul M George of multi-crore Muthoot Group was hushed up by police to protect goonda friends of CPM Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s son Bineesh Kodiyeri.

Several police stations and honest police officials have been physically targeted for not toeing CPM line. Attacking of sub inspectors and forcibly releasing CPM/DYFI/SFI cadres who have been arrested for goonda activities, molesting, traffic accidents, etc. is the order of the day. Even lady constables are attacked and molested in police stations and while in traffic duty.

Support to jehadi forces and attacks on church
The CPM is primarily and singularly responsible for growth of jehadi forces like NDF/PFI and Madhani. Its thirst for Muslim votes has made it close its eyes towards the dangerously rising Islamic terrorism. It gave a hero’s welcome to Madhani released from Coimbatore prison and tried to prevent his arrest by Karnataka police. It has earlier teamed up with NDF to target RSS cadres in Kannur, Malappuram and Thiruvananthapuram. Most of the cases like Kozhikode bus stand blasts, haul of gelatine sticks, Tamil Nadu bus burning, Beypore boat blast, cutting of brake pipes of train, etc. was soft-pedalled to placate jehadis. Now several cases have been taken over by NIA. Even now, uninhabited islands around Kochi are being used by NDF for training purposes. Despite warnings by Army, Navy, Coast Guards, IB, RAW etc. considering the strategic nature of Kochi, which houses the Southern Naval Command, Port, Container Terminal, International Airport, Shipyard etc, the CPM is doing nothing to evict the jehadis.

Tomin J Thachankery, the former IG of Kannur is under surveillance and enquiry for links with jehadis. He is involved in several cases like links with T Nazer (Madhani’s kingpin and prime suspect in several blasts), accompanying Pinarayi Vijayan on fund collection drive in Gulf, manufacture of fake CDs and smuggling high-tech studio equipment for CPM’s channel ‘Kairali.’

What more can be expected of CPM and Pinarayi which shared dias with Madhani to garner votes for Hussein Randhathani, a jehadi.

Although the CPM was getting a section of the Christian votes, this has totally disappeared with PJ Joseph, going to KM Mani’s party in Congress led UDF. Moreover attacks on Medical/Engineering Colleges run by church, running battle with the clergy and calling them ‘Despicable Insects’ have totally alienated them. The church is openly issuing ‘Pastoral Letters’ in Sunday Mass asking for defeat of CPM.

Liquor and lottery mafia
The CPM link with liquor mafia dates back to several decades. Most of the liquor barons linked to booze tragedies in Vypeen, Kalluvathikal, like Chandrasenan, Manichan were linked to CPM. Manichan in his diary has detailedly recorded daily and monthly amounts given to CPM leaders/party amounting to crores.

Kerala is now the largest consumer of liquor in India, pushing back Punjab. Even during this Onam, the State government managed PSU, made sales of Rs 800 crore, not to mention the illicit trade, which will be five times more. Most of the illicit trade is done with CPM patronage and leaders and party gets a huge cut. It is the biggest source of income to CPM.

Now CPM has also entered the lottery arena. While lotteries have been banned in several states, CPM links with lottery mafia don Sandeago Martin has made Kerala a haven for Bhutan/Sikkim lotteries. The CPM earlier collected Rs 2 crore for its channel from him which was returned due to media revelations. Even now ‘Kairali’ is beaming lottery draws and ads, collecting crores. Without paying tax, lotteries worth crores of rupees were sold during Onam. There are media reports that CPM was paid 25 crore by Martin.

The liquor and lottery mafia are ruining Kerala, wrecking families and leading to mass suicides.

Land mafias
With Kerala having just 1 per cent of India’s land area and 3.3 per cent of nation’s population, land is the scarcest commodity. Also because of as highly affluent NRI population, which can invest in nothing but land and gold. The land mafias require political and goondas support to evict unwilling land owners and CPM requires crores and foothold in the real-estate arena. Both combined and prices of land have skyrocketed, unbearable for the middle-class to own or build a dwelling.

The CPM, its feeder organisations, Channel Kairali, newspaper Deshabhimani together own property worth 10,000 crore comprising of multi-storied complexes, studios, flats, state of the art presses etc, etc. Not to mention water based theme park, eco-tourism park and upcoming five-star hotel. The CPM is the richest landlord in Kerala!

Attacks on judiciary
Attacks on judiciary and judges have become another hallmark of the CPM. Whenever the courts pass anti-CPM judgements, be it in the self- financing colleges issue, convicting CPM goons for murder of RSS men, ordering CBI probe on Pinarayi Vijayan, judges are verbally abused and effigies burnt. Recently when Kerala High Court passed on order against road blocking agitations, CPM leader Jayarajan called the Judge an ‘Idiot’. The courts have several times warned the State government that they will have to call the Army, if the government doesn’t implement its orders. This CPM regime has got the largest number of strictures from Kerala High Court.

Five years of misrule have led to collapse of roads and health care. Not even one Km of motorable road is available in Kerala. Diseases like H1N1, Chikungunya, dengue, malaria, are spreading like wildfire and government hospitals are ill- equipped and understaffed. PWD has had five ministers in these 4½ years and Health Minister Sreemathi is touring the world, when Kerala is gripped by Swine Flu, etc.

Atchudanandan’s battle against sex, land, liquor mafias has reached nowhere due to party resistance. With CPM’s imminent rout in the May 2011 polls, he is going to be dumped in the dustbin. Despite being the only CPM leader charge-sheeted by CBI for corruption in the 336 crore SNC-LAVLIN scam, Pinarayi Vijayan will be hailed by ‘KARAT’ since he needs the Kerala CPM’s support to retain his General Secretaryship.

It will take years to undo the damage to the system, inflicted by the CPM. By then Kerala will be left, far behind.
